I guess with all we know now, it is safe to say she never really cared for what her son is or rather has been…
"My problem is that we are trying to create reasons and explanations for bad character development. I don't want to legitimize the bad decisions made by the writing team by coming up with reasons that IO acts so badly out of character because some #@$#% writer suddenly decided to create drama and drive up ratings."

THIS. This. This. This.

In Ok's character description:

"A romantic who considers 'love' to be the highest virtue in life.. . . . .The woman, Lee In-ok, can put up with all kinds of humiliation for Chan-sik, but [the] mother, Lee In-ok, does not put up with it for Tae-kyung. "

Other character descriptions are still pretty much accurate, they even hint at Granny Evil's soft side.

I'm beginning to believe "brain tumor" or some other illness/disease.

I went to check and she actually appears wearing the coat in several episodes before the night she takes care…
I couldn't remember the specifics, but I do remember that JH suite (for which she had a key!) was full of light, large windows, patio outside. TK's room was dark. Ever since this theory of one-night drunken near black-out night of sex appeared, I have said I will give the drama a One Star rating if they do it.

This truly is one of the best theories I have read, but. . . . .since I absolutely hate the idea that the viewer has been lied to from the very beginning in the promotional material, and I hate it when I am the victim of outright fraud, and also I really liked the concept of family being more than "blood". . . . . I went back and did a deep dive.

Episode 4, Mark 34 - Bong Nim holds up the jacket and all 4 buttons are there.

You were extraordinarily observant and creative and I admire that kind of detective work/speculation. I almost hated bursting the bubble. 😥😥😥

For me season 2 so far mainly has to do with a lot of beatings and who has the bigger "balls". I miss the intricated…
Ja Beok's personality in the drama is different from the webtoon. In the webtoon, he is guitar player who is overly confident of his ability to become the best Counter. In the drama, he is a sweet-natured country-bumpkin who is devoted to his father. Both have the ability to smell evil spirits. From tiny bits and pieces, I believe he will indeed become quite athletic - he's the Counter that is making the big leap in the early poster.

Oh and i think I might get sl syndrome already. Pls tell me that guy at the police station isn't the sl? He reminds…
He was sml (triangle) in "Meow the Secret Boy" and "To Alll the Guys Who Loved Me".

Great actor, killer puppy-dog eyes and fortunately he will FINALLY be Male Lead (romantic) in the drama "King of Saju".

Title My Lovely Liar Spoiler
I really liked the first ep. nothing much to say personally but I had lots of fun.ep. 2: The opening animations…
I thought Li See Woo would be paired with my favorite Seo Ji Hoon!? They are even in promo pics together. Both so charming in whatever drama they are in. Are you certain she's paired with the driver?? I guess I need to watch for myself - will finally be able to watch tonight and hopefully I am able to stay awake.

I think a big part of Season 2 will be the battle for Joo seok's soul - that's been a primary feature of the character promos and it's the webtoon. Although Season 1 of the drama was well-balanced among all of the team, the webtoon (both seasons) is overly focused on So Mun, But then, the only reason I'm even watching is because of In-soo, so provided I can avoid the cruel/vicious scenes, I'll be happy for whatever happens.

There are countless things I could criticize this drama for, lack of buildup is not it..
I'm with you - it was must-see for 1st few episodes. But life intervened to limit my drama watching ability and this was the first to "Pause". I'll watch eventually, but it will be on faster speed and heavy FF button for certain characters.

The business is from the Chairman's dead wife's side, not Granny's and his side. He married into the NX Group.…
"All depends on his and her wills I guess."

In Korea, one cannot disinherit heirs (spouse, children, etc). 50% of the estate must be reserved for legal heirs, but the individual can dictate (via legal will) who will receive all or a portion of the other half of the estate.

However, I assume that Father Gong and Granny will still be alive at the end of the drama, so may be irrelevant if Granny has no real wealth to pass onto her two children (and/or grandchildren).

Thanks for specific answer - and I guessed correctly - it was between Eps 11-20. I began to pay attention again when Joon Ha returned.

So Father Gong apparently inherited when his wife died - that would explain how he has the power to distribute (gift) shares of stock. And at some point, it was Father Jang who saved the company from bankruptcy. At one time, I wondered if Father Jang had stock in NX Group (from his loan), but if he did, he wouldn't need to rely on gifts/donations from Father Gong to keep the school going.

So, the moral of these minor facts is that the financial dealings of the parties have very little relevance to the overall current family dynamics or Strawberry's possible inheritance.

Bongnim says KA-CHING 😂
Well, BT, there IS a 4th option but I have foresworn that I will not intentionally trigger you.🤣🤣🤣

I'm so far behind now - am now looking forward (my speculation) to JH demanding SJ to help him with Baby (based on CYJ's IG post) - I will find it amusing but other heads will explode. I honestly regret ever starting this drama but will watch bits and pieces to the end.

Thanks for reply. I have a feeling it was during episodes 11-20 (or so) when I wasn't paying too much attention. Definitely not in Eps. 1-10 because I re-watched those and took careful notes. I do remember (somewhere in Eps. 21-30) that Ji Myeong said that her mother never loved or appreciated her the way In Ok cared about her. I will be interested if this is meaningful in the last episodes or simply throw-away lines that mean nothing.

Do you recall when that info was disclosed? I've been unsure how NX group came to be. If the business is from the Chairman's dead wife, then I'm surprised that Father Gong has much wealth or control.

Why does Granny think she is so high and mighty if her wealth wasn't built by her family? I would very much like to understand the dynamics if you remember when it was mentioned. Thanks in advance.

Bongnim says KA-CHING 😂
🤣🤣

Question - as far as I can tell, the Bong Nim = Strawberry is speculation and but for some visceral animosity between Granny Evil and BN at school, is there any other hints/clues/foreshadowing? Because TWICE, Uncle said that BN inherited her good eye-sight from their father.

Meanwhile, Kim Hye Ok's (BN)agency sent a food truck with - get this - STRAWBERRY milkshakes.

And then in celebration of Choi Ja Hye's birthday (Ji Myeong), she was presented with a cake with - ta-da - strawberries and the little note said "strawberry" in ENGLISH (not Korean).

I wonder if we are being played by the writers.

But she HAS to be added to the family register by her 'mother', right? And they both have to consent to it.....If…
My impression (but, unlike paternity legal rights, I never did a deep dive on this specific issue) is that the register is more patriarchal. The register is maintained in specific "ward offices" where the family officially resides - or, where the family "leader" resides so that he/she can ensure accurate information. Originally, it was based on the "MALE family head" although that may have changed in recent years due to recent changes in laws regarding paternity, adoption, birth registration requirements, etc.

The MOTHER is the only one who can file the birth registration wherever she may please - it doesn't even need to be in the same ward as the family registry.

I don't believe the "family registry" is a requirement for inheritance - Korea relies upon official (government) registration (with the ward office) for birth, adoption, marriage and death.

As of 9:00 am PDT (1:00 am KST) it's up on Viki - VERY early compared to many other dramas.
Thank you for explanation - it confirms some of what I have noticed (including the fact that sometimes the subs may be only 80% complete at time of release on viki and later completed or even supplemented w/notes on Korean culture/slang.

A year ago, I was watching two dramas. "From Now On Showtime" and "Sh**ting Stars". FNOS was available almost immediately on Viki (comparable to Netflix release w/in hour of broadcast) and SS - if we were lucky - would be 14-1 hours later.

Again, thanks for explanation. 😊

On The Real Has Come! Jul 31, 2023
I've been spending too much time in a hospital (visiting patient) w/nothing to do but browse the internet and today and I began to research Korean inheritance laws.

As far as I can tell, Strawberry is an heir if she is located. She cannot be disinherited. If she is alive (Bong Nim scenario), then she gets 50% of NX Group shares. If she is dead, then her children get her share.

I have no idea who Strawberry is (or was) - I'm waiting for a strawberry embroidered handkerchief to appear. But, regardless - there is more at stake than Granny Evil finding her lost daughter.

If JH is not the father then whom? The story will be pointless
I wavered for a few episodes on the fraternal twins part when "Strawberry" was introduced, (went from 100% certain to 75%) but I'm back to it. The visceral hatred between the two men (not to mention their close birth dates) is the stuff of k-drama makjang.
