Did she think she was a good person? No she did not - Zhang Zhe was that pure good person for her that she was not. So she thought she could redeem herself a little bit of he chose her .

Zhang Zhe would never lover her the way she is. If you noticed she never could be herself in front of him. According to me Yan Lin could have been a better match but not Zhang Zhe. I am actually glad she backed off.

He really was not a red flag but had lost too much in his life including his identity. He respected and loved the FL a lot and accepted her for who she was. TBH she was not a great person and she was self righteous . But he accepted her for who she was. But she not so much till the end

It is not as simple as that. the FL ‘s feelings for Zhang Zhe and Yan Lin were very different. Even though she had a bond with Yan Lin she always considered him as a friend - she was very clear about that. With Zhang Zhe I would say it was a fantasy - since she thought she was a bad person her solution was to become good by being with Zhang Zhe - she wanted to possess some thing good and pure. But with Xie Wei they understood and trusted each other from the beginning. She could be herself in front of him and he accepted her for who she was from the beginning. Jiang Xuening was very ambiguous towards him and actually used him a lot for her own selfish purposes and it’s only towards the end that she was convinced that she should be with him. He definitely had a selfless love for her but not her so much - she always weighed the pros and cons of everything

He actually understood the character and played it beautifully. He was not scary at all. Xie Wei is a very intense character to play with a lot of layers to him and ZLH really brought that essence out. He seems to be well suited for darker more complex roles.

This drama was really well done. Loved Xie Wei’s character - ZLH really did well in this role - he brought out the darkness and the good in his character beautifully. Bai Lu as usual nailed her role!! - she played the ambiguous FL beautifully till the end! she definitely brings out the best in all her dramas! I liked Yan Lin’s character very much. The only thing I feel is that they rushed the last few episodes. This drama could have been 5 -10 episodes longer and it would have been great. A lot of Chinese dramas do this and it is a really bad move for th story but regardless this is a 10/10 for me

True. The actor could have emoted his tug of war a little bit. But even then to me it felt like she was trying to get some of her ‘goodness’ back by trying to be with a guy like Zhang Zhe even though he was the wrong choice for her. She was actually right when she talked about how she had tainted/broken a delicate vase —the guy was too pure, too rigid and too principled for her scheming, manipulative personality

XiWei actually explains it well when she asks him to compare the past and present her - that everything is a continuum - it is the past that made the present her and that they are all her. But that is not what she believes

I am on ep 22 and I feel that maybe the FL and Zhang Zhe should die together LOL

Ep 22 - the FL is frustrating the hell out of me. I mean why is she so meddlesome and why does she love putting herself in danger thinking she is clever. And Zhang Zhe- the guy needs to be killed off

I would never have her be with Zhang Zhe. He is so rigid and self righteous that I can’t take it any more. He is the worst kind of person really to be with because what everybody else does is wrong and only he is right . That kind of a guy would drive one crazy. The FL is frustrating the hell out of me by trying to even be with him. But I guess for her since she thinks she is such a bad person she thinks that for a guy like zhang Zhe to like her would be fantastic but actually it would be the worst match for her given her personality. He will never forgive even a small mistake of hers

At the end of the intro montage there is the voiceover of both of them that pretty much sums up who they are. They are both very tortured souls because of pervious events

It’s really cute though how she thinks that everything that happened was her fault and that she can fix all that in the present timeline. She forgets that she can’t control everything
