The show keeps getting better and better, I love how they focus on how the FL is trying to gain confidence in…
Yes, I agree, this series is a little gem. It’s getting better and better with each episode. And I sincerely apologize to all of Michieda Shunsuke's fans I may have offended the other day. He is doing a very good job and I really appreciate his (and all the others’) acting. Before the show started I was skeptical about whether the chemistry between Hirose Alice and him would work due to their age gap, but that’s exactly what this drama is about: the lives Sayako and Taku have lead already, their different experiences and how differently they deal with challenges and situations in relation to their age. That’s what makes this drama so interesting. And while Sayako, given her age, is not always as mature as we assume, Taku is not that innocent newbie you might think either. I think this drama has some surprises in store in the next episodes...

Your idea of feminism is not accurate. And yes this drama is flawed. All the things those women did, if done by…
Oh boy. 😑

Wow! What an interesting project, remakes of early silent movies by Ozu Yasujiro. He is one of my favourite Japanese directors. He had such a unique style of filming I have never seen from any other director. In my eyes, of all Japanese directors Ozu is the "most Japanese" director, if you know what I mean...

Is this a 32 episode drama? Otherwise, I might sub for Honoka.
It is one of NHK's Yorudoras, re-established in 2022 with episodes broadcast on every weekday evening. A Yorudora usually consists of 32 episodes of 15 minutes each. Some of the latest Yorudoras were 'Homeru Hito Homerareru Hito', 'Watashi no Ichiban Saiakuna Tomodachi' or 'Anata no Butsu ga, Koko ni', which is my favorite one so far.

What do you mean "quite bearable"? You obviously haven't watched any of his work before aren't you? Go watch "Even…
You know what? I followed your recommendation and just watched the first half of "Even if This Love Disappears From the World Tonight" (and will watch the second half tomorrow), and yes, that movie is quite touching, indeed. I like it so far. Michieda and Fukumoto are a very sweet couple, and their story is quite moving. I’m really looking forward to finishing the movie tomorrow. Furthermore, Michieda shows far more variety in his acting in that movie than in this drama, where I barely see more than one facial expression from him, and I’m asking myself: Why is that? Does he have to be so incredibly "cool" in his role? Is it the director’s wish? I don’t understand it. And I hope it gets better in the next episodes.
P.S.: You don’t have to insult other people. No need for that. Thanks.

I take back everything I said before. Episode 1 was very entertaining and unexpectedly funny. Fabulous and lovely Hirose-chan is on fire again! And the plot looks very promising. I like stories in which the protagonist is given a second chance to achieve what they strive for. The cast is absolutely wonderful, too. I think I will continue watching this show. Even Michieda was quite bearable. ;-)

Stupid story
Don't worry – Bakarhythm turns even a stupid-sounding story into a clever masterpiece!

Because the show is aimed to women and he happens to be a good actor too ?what's up with people thinking an idol…
Calm down, please. No need to be offensive. And no, I haven't watched Kieta Hatsukoi yet. Have a nice day. 😊

Wow! At first I just wanted to give it a try, but then I got glued to the screen and finished it in one go. Great story, fantastic actors. And thanks a lot for the, as usual, great subs, @HPriest!

Wow! What a breathtaking show. Complex story, great acting and lots of hilarious dialogues. I just finished watching it for the first time, and I think I'll start one more time right now.

No, I haven't. BL is not really my cup of tea... But I started this here, so I think I should at least give it a try ... ;-)

I would also advice reading Murasaki Shikibu's diary (Penguin Classic released it, it's short and not expensive).…
Thank you for your recommendations and your explanations! I didn't know there's also Murasaki Shikibu's diary available. I will look for it. Thanks a lot!

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'll just have to wait and see. Maybe I'm unfair and just biased by my experiences with other idol actors, or I just have my little prejudices and will be proven wrong when I watch the show. I hope I'm totally wrong, since the last idol group member who really impressed me was Meguro Ren in 'Silent'. He gave an amazing performance!

Why on earth does Hirose Alice have to play in another silly lovey-dovey romcom again? I would really like to watch this drama just because of her, but I'm not sure if I will. The story and the trailer look dull, and the male lead with all his cuteness seems to be another of these idol group members I'm so tired of. Sorry, please excuse my rant.

Wow! A taiga dorama about Murasaki Shikibu, and Sei Shonagon is also appearing. I can't wait for it! But first I have to read The Tale of Genji and The Pillow Book which are waiting on the shelf...
