The actual ending is a happy one in my view. His dead brother telling him to get up and go back to Susu was one of the details that points to it. I agree with you that they should have stuck to the script, it would have taken the same amount of time and effort to make it clear that he survived and they ended up happily together with their kid.

I entirely agree. I view the ending as a happy one for the same reasons as you, the 'get up and go back to Susu' was crucial but the way they ended it was not clear enough. They could have filmed the script ending instead of the one in the drama, same amount of time and effort spent.

The drama is worth watching, some of the best acting from both ZLH, WCR and the main support characters. Mediocre direction at the beginning, it gets better. A bit choppy editing. Great atmosphere. I personally like how over the top everything and everybody is.

Well, I enjoyed this drama and didn't like The First Frost, dropped it two thirds into it. Each to their own.
