ok him suddenly wanting his sister when he found out its not his sister...did he want her all along? this is freaking…
People with a healthy mind who are brought up together do not feel sexual attraction towards each other; this is nature's own mechanism, put in our brains to avoid the genetic degeneration of the species. In psychology it is called the Westermack effect. This is what makes the 'non biological siblings' excuse invalid, because it is unnatural to feel sexually attracted to someone with whom they were brought up as siblings regardless of whether they are biologically related or not. It still is psychological incest if they are not blood related.

It never ceases to amaze me that the Chinese censorship is so incredibly strict about even minor details but systematically allows the incest trope (yes, it's so frequent you can call it a trope) as long as there is the obligatory 'not blood related' twist in the plot. How on earth do they fail to realise that the idea of children who grew up together as siblings and then go on to have sex together is utterly revolting? What is the purpose of this very frequently repeated tastelessness, are they trying to promote incest in the XXI century? Are the censors/writers/producers just a bunch of perverts? I think these are relevant questions, particularly if we bear in mind this trope is entirely unnecessary every single time and adds exactly nothing to any storyline.

I also find just as astonishing some comments on this forum giving the same excuse, ie. that it's ok because they are not biological siblings. The very sentence 'they were brought up together as siblings' should be a clear enough explanation as to why it is aberrant, but apparently some people see nothing wrong with it. Live and learn.

It is the maths and physics stuff that I find interesting. The romance is just going to be run off the mill.

I couldn't stand the little girl, I found her utterly repellent. She added precisely nothing to the drama, I hope she's gone for good.

Looking forward to the leads being of course alive after falling off the cliff and getting closer to each other until they get rescued, which is what I expect to happen.

The story is pretty good and the acting is great. I'm very much enjoying it.

I can see that too and I agree with you. In any case, there are still quite a few eps left, we'll see where it takes us.

So far I think the script and direction could have been better, but the acting is pretty good and I also like the aesthetics.

Anyway, it's been a pleasure chatting to you. Stay well.

On ep 5 and I'm really enjoying this drama. The acting is top notch, the plot is interesting and it's got beautiful scenery.
The one character that's starting to get on my nerves is the reckless, shouty Fu Zhi; I hope she's not going to be like this for the whole drama.

I partially agree with you about his family, but I think he only cares about his brother, not his mother who didn't raise him and treats him awfully and most certainly not his sister. Even his brother, with whom he made up (some moral accomplishment, bearing in mind Qin Yu sent him to prison where he was tortured and rendered unable to perform surgery) is now marrying the woman Qin Yi loves and sending her to a certain death because, according to him, only if she dies will Qin Yi find peace (WTF is that about, scriptwriters?).

The clan 'name' rests on arms and mercenaries. It can be made and/or lost overnight, particularly among those who operate on the edge of the law as it is the case. Power has always been practical above all, nobody ever in history gave so much importance to a name or culture as to overlook where the real power comes from.

Qin Yi is rebellious, angry, smart and, most relevantly, very rich by now. He also has the connections. Something doesn't add up.

Does anyone have the release schedule for August? Because honestly, after the absolute 10/10 month we had in July,…
'Royal Betrothal' started yesterday. 4 eps released and it's a thumbs up from me. Enjoy.

I can see that, but in this series the Republican era is portrayed as a virtually feudal system, the power of those clans being based on their ability to obtain armament and mercenaries. Qing Yi has now enough wealth to buy both. He also seems to have the connections, for example he bypassed the Huo clan and got the 5 planes directly from the dealer.

He also acts in a very arrogant manner regardless of all those years of abuse and low self esteem.

Perhaps his character is not that well written. Shame, because I'm a fan of both ZLH and WCR.

Question:
Qing Yi seems to have made money on his own, not to mention the fact that he took over the Huo fortune because he simply got to it first and hid it from the Murong family. Basically, he's rich on his own terms.

Given the above, why does he take so much crap from the Murong family, including physical beatings? He didn't even grow up within their fold and he doesn't need them in any aspect.

I don't even understand why he lets that despicable POS that gave birth to him beat him up every time she fancies…
It does happen in other series. I'm currently watching Spring Over Phoenix Pond, where the very unfairly treated FL just turned around, stopped her nasty mother before she could hit her and returned a very satisfactory full palm slap on the face that sent the abusive POS tumbling away. Just for that it's worth watching. 😁

I don't even understand why he lets that despicable POS that gave birth to him beat him up every time she fancies it. One thing is respecting your elders, a very different thing is letting your elders beat you into a pulp. He should have turned around and slapped her,

Qing Long: "What are you doing? You mustn't strain your eyesight!" [Snatches a book off Wu Yi's hands]
Wu Yi, slightly amused: "Do you think you're running the palace now because you have back up?"
Qing Long: "If you don't agree you can take it up with Her Highness" [naughty smile forming in his mouth].
Wu yi pulls a half annoyed, half resigned expression.

Yes, moral censorship dressed as legal decency. Aside from this, I'm up to date with this drama (currently on ep 24) and IMO is absolutely worth watching, intimacy or no intimacy.

What it has to do with it is plenty of people on this forum and even on this sub-thread saying it would be ILLEGAL in China for a minor (that means under 18yo which is the legal age of adulthood in China) to kiss. This is a complete falsehood. The censors being a bunch of prudes is a different matter and not what my answer was aimed at.

I'm so sick of this idiocy about the FL being a minor. Legal adulthood and legal age of consent are two completely different legal concepts. In Mainland China the age of adulthood is 18 for both men and women, while the age of sexual consent is 14 (yes, 14) for both boys and girls and regardless of sexual orientation. Having full sex in real life at 17 is perfectly legal in China, let alone a kiss or a pretence of having sex while fully clothed in a drama.
