why only eight ep? Is itβs just me or kdramas started having such small episodes countβ¦Same with cdramasβ¦
Actually for action/mystery/horror/thrillers etc, the shorter the number and length of episodes, the better imo...if they drag it for longer it can drastically affect the pace and not do much for the story either. If they designed this for 8 episodes from the beginning, then it will turn out great just like Weak Hero Class and The Wonderfools...
The main leads get together in ep 5. So there's not much left for me to watch in a romcom that i was hoping would have more romance development haha...but that's on me, not the drama. Since this is less of a traditional romcom and more about public health doctors, there's more story left to explore in that area. I'm just usually done with a show once the main leads have mutually confessed hahha
The ERPB is essentially a small group of unelected individuals deciding who deserves punishment, what punishment…
I agree with your core points. And i do wish they had an episode that had the erpb directly face the negative consequences of their vigilantism. I'm glad they acknowledged the public questioning their authority on the grounds of nepotism and personal vengeance tho. But that's also where fictional immunity benefits this drama. It's an action drama simply set in this particular environment.
I also dont believe democracy is the answer to everything in every context. If that were the case, then vigilantism wouldn't still exist. If we look at the world at large too, democracy has equally created newer problems that didn't exist before in places without it.
So as far as this drama is concerned, it's best experienced as a fictional adrenaline fest that raises some much-needed uncomfortable truths and questions that may or may not make people think. And if it can provide 10 episodes of catharsis to the victims of bullying and abuse, students and teachers alike, who feel powerless under the present system, then that's also a very noble accomplishment for this drama and its makers. Because that's ultimately what fiction is about. Bringing temporary comfort with the escape it provides.
Why is the whole idol industry in this drama haha...not even 5 episodes in and already spotted meng ziyi, chen duling and the cast list says even lu yuxiao and li yunrui r in this? Wow...cool to see how just a few years later, they're all big stars!
Pls someone cast her and Jing Boran in an angsty yearning-filled romance haha. Tired of seeing her be cast opposite younger actors when there r so many age adjacent castings that could be fire on screen
This was an unexpected find and a very enjoyable watch. It's been ages since I watched anything adventure related and I had so so much fun with every single episode. I watched the first 14 episodes and mostly fast forwarded through the rest coz I feel like the story concluded well enough for me, Mu Dai and Luo Ren that I'm happy to ciao out and move on to the next. All hail the Phoenix Squad π¦βπ π₯
The more I watch historical dramas, the more I realize li yunrui's vibe in historical dramas is unmatched...don't think anyone can compare. He shines the best in high aura/power roles too. Seeing him in small town stories like Dazzling felt pretty misfitting...
This was so much fun! Loved how they combined the slap stick, action, friendship, found family and romance themes all together in a cool 8 episode package. The cast had great chemistry with each other, and the worldbuilding and pacing was very convincing and engaging for the whole run.
Wow july 17?! Finally! Thankyouuu netflix! Been wanting to watch it since it was first announced and i was thinking it was scheduled for the second half of the year this whole time...they're really releasing everything in july huh π₯Ή
I'm usually not about ratings at all because of how biased they r but no way a show as well-made production and performance wise as this show has lower ratings than some of the most mediocre dramas out there with their 8.8+ ratings...y'all have me floored lmao π« π€£
I'm not sure why this show is getting so much criticism when so many of the criticisms for this show are usually compliments when it comes to other shows? Feels like forced hate atp...
I for one am genuinely enjoying how none of these characters r black or white simulator green flags but feel like real people with their own moments of flawed judgement, selfishness, self awareness and willingness to grow through adversity. I would gladly take this over 10 more leads with the same old golden retriever green flag template energy with the personality of wet diapers, no offense.
Don't think the FL is leading anyone on either. Her feelings r pretty clear towards the ML. Like the girl couldn't make it anymore obvious from at least ep 2. Smiling at the opposite gender and laughing with them does *not* constitute leading anyone on either. I wish in 2026 at least we can let women just be friendly without being labeled "flirts" and "hunters" for it π€¦ββοΈ
As someone who's also been pretty underwhelmed by lee jae wook's most recent works, Doctor on Edge definitely stands out as a good exception from cast to story to performances. I feel like people are being really unfair with stories like this where the romance isn't centered around one down bad, green flag ML who will move the world around for an FL who doesn't give him even 2% of the same effort. Y'all can go watch the 100s of other dramas with that exact dynamic if that's what you want to watch without raining down unoriginal negativity all over a drama that is trying to find its own ground. Coz fortunately, romance stories can be told in many different ways and I'm glad at least this year, there's been many more reciprocal romance stories with equally invested leads coming out.
Anyway thats it from me...thanks for coming to my ted talk ig lol
