I also hope the FL's cringe ass friend So Ra stops bothering the boss dude, I can't bring myself to ship them, they feel like a child (I know the age gap between them isn't that huge, and she is a 25 years or so adult but she behaves like a dumb teenager so...) and an old man. They don't fit together at all. I would prefer if So Ra ends with police dude, and the 2nd FL either deciding to rely on her self at last which will be best in my opinion, or if she is soo obsessed with having a man in her life she can date that handsome doctor dude who seems to have a thing for her.

Exactly! The scene also with the FL's jerk ex appearing on that wedding...did they also need to include that? Really, the ML was in such a high need for some bastard to come out of nowhere insulting the FL for him to finally grow a backbone and decide to show his true feelings for her?! I love the ML, but his whole endless pity party thing, making himself and everyone around him depressed is just irritating.

2nd FL constant need for someone to rely on like a parasite, is not healthy at all. If she keeps that mentality her whole life she is gonna keep suffering, cause she can't easily expect someone to stay flawless and has nothing in life to focus on apart form her, just her and everything else can go to hell...it's freaking exhausting to be in a relationship with a person like her.

I agree! The 2nd FL is annoying and toxic as fuck, every time she appears I get pissed off! But in a way I can't blame her because imagine getting your ass abandoned after a very strong relationship for whole 10 years...still she is being a bit too crazy for my liking.

I never realized that but now that you said it, yes you're actually right! The amount of Chinese FL characters that I hated are far far less compared to Korean ones.

I noticed that Korean dramas tend to overuse toxic characters tropes and wouldn't bother drop them or at least improve them a bit. Most of FL characters are either the meek ass dumb as hell girl with no pride nor backbone, or the violent rude and stuck up bitch.

I highly hate how they make FL like that on purpose to make ML characters appear more badass and heroic. And in the case of dramas with love triangles, the second leads will be more interesting likeable and overall decent than lead ones. That's why the whole second lead syndrome exists.

I mean I get why they make them that way, to make watchers struggle to pick between the lead male characters (Or female characters if it's one guy two girls thing), if they make the second leads worse than the leads then adding them will just be pointless and add nothing to the plot. I get it , but it still bothers me.

And in the case of harem/reversed harem concept plots, the lead character will be the most bland ass, boring ass, irritating ass human being on earth and yet you will find at least 3 hot and cool people be obsessed with said shit character to death.

If the lead in these harem shows has a best friend then the best friend will be the one who is way more worthy of being the lead, and yet no one among the hot fans of the lead looks their way nor acknowledge their existence. It's so illogical to the point where it's baffling, and their excuse is that the lead is supposed to "present the watcher" the insert y/n fanfic type of crap, but it's fucking insulting to the watchers, because people in real life aren't that awful.

Now again about Kdramas, the writers just love to use the typical cringe safe writing methods, and won't bother be a bit daring and creative.

Like in some dramas I even seen FL who behave like literal toddlers while being adults, which forces the ML to babysit their asses, constantly protecting, worrying, and taking care of them. At that point they are more of an older brother/uncle/father figure than a lover.
Like in Dear.M the FL in that drama was that way and ML had to always worry about her being clumsy and dense while she was busy acting childish all the time even though they were both in college.

It feels like a gross fetish, that females are supposed to be youthful, pure, and childish all the time to get the attention of guys. Like the loli/shota characters in anime. Even if they in their 20's they should still act like 10 years old children to be likeable and cute.

And when the FL is supposed to be strong, then they make her violent, rude, and bossy like the FL character in Gaus Electronics, who would always threatens to hit, yell at, and disrespects the ML all the damn time. So in their eyes apparently being strong is equal to behaving like a criminal/sociopath. I guess that's their way of making fun of feminists in South Korea, since I know many males there don't appreciate feminists or any females whom don't act traditional and whole life isn't revolved around being into guys (And it shows in Kpop, Whenever a female idol wear or read something that supports feminism she gets hated on).

Oh, I would love to know your opinion later! The FL of this drama is also among the best written FL characters I ever come across in Asian dramas.

I could tell you were a bit new as an Asian drama fan, I watched hundreds of dramas and movies, so you can always ask for recommendation of any genre whenever you need it. I will give you great recommendations.

Ikr! I actually tried to watch more of that drama, but then she appeared and I was like "This is not worth ruining half of the nerves in my body over... I don't watch shows to get myself ill" and stopped again lmao

I watched all of IOTNBO honestly and overall enjoyed the drama and the nice mix of psychology and goth vibe, many characters were very interesting to me as well like the brother of the ML, I liked the leads chemistry, but damn both FL lead characters were utterly annoying most of the time. Especially the second FL lead. I still preferred FL since she at least had strong chemistry with ML.

FL was abusive and sometimes creepy when she tries to sexually harass ML, second FL was boring and clingy as hell. Like seriously what are those characters?! What's wrong with writers!

Then you might've just not watched that huge amount of them t begin with, or the ones you watched happened to be the way you described. Just give this drama a chance, it's among the best historical Korean dramas that came out till this day. I already finished 14 episodes of the 16 so I know lol

Actually though, I did get personally attacked few times here for not always hyping every drama I come across, but it's for sure not as toxic as other websites. Most people who disagree with you in MDL will do it in a polite way, just few can be very rude.

I will make sure to write my opinion about anything that bothers me or catches my interest after the release of every episode, glad to know that you want to read them, and I will like it if you also tell me what you think of them.

Yeah, but don't forget what the grandpa said about his son (One with glasses) who betrayed him to help Dooyoung company, he said what he did in a way made sense since he is supposed to be a business man, and a business man must always seek his profit, and even let him be without grand punishment after what he done. The grandpa himself is willing to throw his kids under the bus anytime if it will be for the sake of saving his company and wealth clearly, and biggest reason he likes Do Jun s because he kinda reminds him of himself and is obviously way smarter than all his other kids/grandkids.

About the love line, finally someone who agrees! Like for real, they indeed barley interact and she already be making assumptions that he is head over heel for her, and he always make fun of her and yet she still chases him around like a pet dog with no pride. Is she a masochist or something?!

Also only reason he interreacted with her was indeed because he knew her in future and that was it, why doesn't he deserve her? I don't get what's so great about her for him to say that, only reason might be the revenge thing yeah, but it's still felt so cringe and forced.

It feels they just added romance for the sake of it, cause "Every fucking Kdrama must have some romance in it no matter what, even if the romance is trash and leads got no chemistry and them being together doesn't make sense at all".

Instead of having romance to add something good to the plot and improve it. They could erase the whole romance crap and nothing about the drama will get affected, in fact the drama will get better and they can use that small screen time on more important and useful scenes. If want to show him taking advantage of her after she becomes a prosecutor then they could just be normal friends/allies, no need to be lovers.

I was a bit uncomfortable cause sometimes an actor/actress could be someone who acted in like 5 or 6 dramas before (Even if it's not lead role) and yet they still act as if they are a total newbie. Since it's her first acting role, then I guess I will wait till she act in other stuff in future then check if she will slowly improve from then to properly judge her skills.

There is a difference between a character straight up being badly written and them just being flawed for the sake of plot.

Sweetie, I'm almost 25 years old currently. Since I was a teen I was mature and there is no way I would do any of the crap the FL is doing. She is still an adult be it 20 or older. Who in their right mind would scream like that, saying all that nonsense in a public library in front of everyone? Even minors won't do it.

And not all Kdramas has their lead characters behave like a retard in the start...and the ones that do, they most of the time stay as retards or annoying characters even after supposedly maturing a bit.

Yeah it's true the drama still has 10 more episodes, but I'm allowed to judge every episode cause even if the ending happens to be good, if half the episodes are trash (Not saying this drama latest episode were trash, I'm just talking overall), then I can still judge them for being trash though, you know, and I can be upset about the characters being badly written in the beginning, even if they do happen to get better in the end.

If you want to defend the FL so badly then do it with logic.
