i really don't understand why Shin Hyunbin's character is needed, i mean she is the FL. if I met someone like…
Yeah honestly I agree 100%, but people just come at me acting like I insulted their sister lmao I mean such a dope drama, they could cast a way better and talented actress, so how come the FL is the least interesting and is the one of the most bland looking?! She is a freaking main role and she should fit it!

Also her character is just a pain in the ass, why they gotta ruin good plots with awful characters?! Same goes for Under The Queen's Umbrella when it comes to the girl they decided to make the wife of the queen's second eldest son/crown prince.

They made her very annoying personality wise, even though she is cute look wise. But they made her character awful and the romance added nothing at all to the story but pointless cringe moments, and the romance isn't even the focus of the drama to begin with so why?!

Although it seem the FL in Reborn Rich is supposed to have something to do with helping Do Jun do his revenge after she become a prosecutor, but they didn't need the romance thing and all those cringe ass scenes of her being annoying at all. She could become a good friend/alley and that's it.

I can't take your comment seriously because it sounds like you just dislike SHB in general not just her role
Dude I didn't even know she existed until I saw her in this drama, never seen her act before in anything I watched so no, it's not me being an actives hater or something of the sort.

All what I said is that I dislike her visuals which is my right, I don't need to lie and say I find her attractive just to please others. I have my own beauty standards like everyone else and if you disagree then cool, I don't mind it.

I also hate how her role is badly written so far which is isn't her fault, but I didn't even insult her acting skills which is also my right, cause obviously an actor should be good at acting, duh! She is a decent actress so far, nothing bad with her acting.

Also if someone decides to become a celebrity be it an actor, model, idol...etc then they should be ready for all types of criticism and they do need to try fit general beauty standards for their own good cause guess what? Entertainment industry highly relies on looks, like I said before million times. Most idol groups success and gain thousands/millions of fans mostly due to their looks than talent, same goes for actors.

If a drama got super hot and popular leads then it will get more views than a drama which has average looking or unattractive leads, that's business and why they love to cast hot leads even if they lack proper acting/singing skills. And it's why the position main visual exist in Kpop groups, to gain more attention and fans. They just want money and don't care about positivity crap sadly.

And in most case of kpop groups, the hotest member will have the most fans, even if they aren't the best in the group skill wise. Lets not try to pretend that what I said isn't a fact.

So to cut it short, I got no issue with the actress as a human being, but I will judge her with things that are related to her career, be it her skills or looks. If she decided to be a doctor or whatever something that isn't related to entertainment industry I wouldn't bother judging her looks at all, nor would I care to begin with.

If we are going to judge poeple based on skills let's do that and stick. Let's not mix it with character storyline…
Why am I not allowed to say I don't like her visuals? She is an actress/celebrity and entertainment industry heavily relies on and needs visuals. Many celebrities can be talented but if they aren't good looking enough that could lead them to fail while the pretty ones success easier even if they lack talent.

I'm not forcing anyone to hate on her looks with me, since I know everyone got their own taste and all, but if someone decides to become a model, actress, idol...etc then they gotta be ready to face criticism not only related to their skills and talent but also looks. Visuals help shows and brands become popular, they help gain people attention and keep it.

Lots of people won't bother watching a drama filled with average or super unattractive cast even if they do admit the cast are skilled art acting, at least one of actors/actresses must be good looking and that's why most lead roles are given to good looking actors, and it's why most idols are hot.

To tell you the truth I myself know that I may not fit everyone beauty standards, but I don't care cause it's their right and I won't force them to fall for me.

Yeah hopefully they will stop making her this dumb and her character will improve in future, I don't want her to become that robotic and depressed like she was in first episode, but just stop being naïve, preachy, and dense as hell.

Quite a harsh comment on (SHB) Shin Hye Bin's looks. Knowing how tough it is for women in general to meet high…
Dude, I literally said in my main comment that I highly dislike it when one of the leads isn't on bar with the other lead, so even if it was the ML who isn't on bar with the FL lead's looks, that will also piss me off, and my opinion may be harsh, but it's what I think and you don't need to agree, it's cool. Everyone's beauty standards may differ after all. But still like I said the entertainment industry heavily relies on and needs visuals.

Why?

Cause many people watch these shows to seek perfection, most don't want to see people who look like people you see on streets every day, they want to see someone who seem perfect and flawless to keep their attention. Same goes with other celebrities like idols. You think if idols looked average or non attractive they will get the amount of fans they get now? No, they won't no matter how talented they are.

Models also heavily need visuals to success.

Also yes, a huge issue in most Asian dramas that they always love to make FL characters awful and act horrible as if they want to make sure the watchers will hate their guts while ML characters get the good writing, interesting and cool moments. It's not surprising in Kdramas since South Korea is still more on the Misogynistic side.

There are few dramas with FL leads that got very great and well written lead roles like the FL in Under the Queen's Umbrella, I love her character to death. Another one is the actress playing the villainess role in The Devil Judge, her character was my favorite in the drama she was pretty and stylish too, and the FL in Revenge of Others is also cute look wise and likeable personality wise.

I also highly loved the FL lead in Hwang Jin Yi and Empress Ki (Both these dramas had same actress for lead role). Another decent FL characters is the FL in The First Responders who is also very realistic and sweet.

But sadly these are a very few ones and most FL leads of Asian dramas that came out till this day are pure trash. Though to be fair a good amount of ML characters are also trash and abusive as hell.

Song Joong Ki did act in different types of roles like his role in Arthdal Chronicals where he acted two characters (Twins) one is very naïve and loyal while the other was dark and traumatized if I remember well. It's a fantasy , supernatural, kinda historical drama but with a world and clans that didn't exist in real life. It's a great drama.

There is also his role in A Werewolf Boy, in which he acted as very innocent, childish, and pure boy.

Yes in Vincenzo my favorite character, the one who shined the most, and the one who made me bother finish the drama and handle the awful humor and pointless romance was Ok Taec Yeon. He nailed that role and he is among my top villain characters.

I did think Song Joong Ki did a very good job, but he kinda was unfitting with the whole mafia thing...I guess cause he looks too elegant and classy for that lol I don't know how to describe it but he didn't look tough enough for it I guess, especially in fighting scenes. I was just like he just looks like a hot, intelligent, rich lawyer but not a mafia boss material.

Yes the grandpa in this drama is great, many of his scenes gave me some goosebumps even, but I think him and Song Joong Ki complement each other, like they mix greatly together and create an amazing chemistry because you wanna know how each one of them will handle the different situation they are put in and they have some sweet moments even. I know grandpa is kinda evil, but I do feel glad when he seem so proud of Do Jun.

probably cause she is interested with ml and trying to attract his attention with that.
Yeah probably and it shows from the cringe ass assumption she made in the café place, where she acted all confident thinking he was hitting on her lmao that was painful to watch, but I was glad he embarrassed her then ditched their supposed date.

Worst way to gain the attention of someone you like.

I'm just sick of Min Young pretending to be the justice knight and talking shit to ML all the time even though she herself was born in a rich family, not a poor one yet she acts as if she was born in poverty and was struggling her whole life to reach what she reached while the ML is supposed to gain everything using money...like he managed to get in that damn law university and become a top student due to his hard work...etc and yet she just rush to talk shit to make herself seem superior somehow even though she doesn't know nor understand shit. She didn't even reach half of the accomplishments he made, yet she judges him.

I know compared to everyone in Do Jun's family she might be more pure and a better person, but Jesus Christ every time she opens her mouth to lecture the ML about how he is supposed to be living his life I feel like smacking her, like bitch if you don't like him shut up, leave him alone and mind your own business, wtf?! She is just making it so freaking clear how insecure and dumb she is being by following him to tell him how much of a saint she is supposed to be by refusing offers blah blah...I was waiting for him to be like "And what do you expect from me? A noble prize? Or are your great accomplishments gonna lead to the world peace? Just fuck off already!"

I don't even get what's the problem of relying a bit on your parents money, I mean many poor people will kill to have such a life, and yet Min Young who was raised by her father's money and hard work, got her school fees paid with it, the food she fucking ate all her life was bought with it, and everything related to her life obviously relies on her parents, she make it seem as her parents hard work and wealth is a sin lmao That's exactly why parents work their asses off, to give their kids a better easier life filled with more opportunities. No decent parent would want their kids to go through the misery they themselves went through in their youth, like DUH!

She is able to focus on her studies, get in such a great college, and even work decent part time jobs easily thanks to her being wealthy, cause unlike poor people who find themselves in total chaos rushing between education and working, or just dropping out of school to work cause they can't afford education, and she is here talking without accomplishing anything first, all her scenes make me itch...

Though to be fair, she did help when she told him about the camera thing in the flowers, so I guess in future her existence might be a bit useful every now and then to the ML, especially after she become a prosecutor. I still don't support the dumb romance, but maybe a chill friendship is okay?

Also I know so far I have been talking about the FL character and personality. I know what am gonna say next may sound rude but it's my opinion anyway, and no one is forced to agree. I don't like this actress visuals.

Yeah acting should rely more on abilities than looks if we want to be fair, but looks is still very important (Or the most important since it gains attraction and profit way faster than talent and most of these shows are made to gain money not spread positivity) in entertainment industry and no one can deny that (And Asians are the most obsessed with looks and being perfect, you know). Most shows and even music groups popularity rely heavily on their cast/members looks even if they lack talent and skills. The hotest one will be the most popular in most cases.

Why? Cause that is why lots of fan bother supporting them and get interested in them. The fans want the perfect, flawless fantasy, not a person who looks average or like someone you could meet daily in street. Someone who fits their ideal prince/princess image (Yeah I know this sounds cringe). They want to escape reality and the misery and harshness of it so they turn to the glittery and colorful entertainment to get what they want.

I'm pretty sure many of Song Joong Ki's fans love him mostly due to his good looks, or noticed his talent after falling for his pretty face (Including me. I first decided to watch a drama of his cause I thought he was hella handsome and then I realized he wasn't just a pretty face, but also an amazing actor and so watched more of his dramas/movies then became a fan), so don't bother nagging at me about how I shouldn't talk this way..etc like I said it's my opinion and I ain't forcing anyone to agree.

Looks is a huge part of entertainment industry and I do have the right to judge visuals along with skills, and the celebrities (Be it an actor, model, idol...etc) should expect to receive such criticism the moment they decide to become a part of it, and still try to fit general beauty standards if they can and want to cause it will help them become more successful and liked. If someone can't handle it then they shouldn't become a celebrity at all, just find a job unrelated to the harsh industry.

Now about the actress I don't know her that well, never seen her acting before, and as human being I don't have issues with her, but she is among the least attractive Korean actresses I have seen to this day, especially ones who play lead roles, and she kinda looks older than him and overall old to be playing a role of a college student (Which is ironic since Song Joong Ki is also way old to be a guy in his 20's in reality, but it somehow doesn't appear and he fits the role look wise. They just changed his hairstyle and the dude now could really pass for a young man).

Anyway I can't stand it when one of the leads isn't on bar with the other lead visually be it the ML or FL, and it feels more odd when the ML is way more good looking the FL. Especially in romance focused shows/romance genre/romance plots added to other genres. They usually pick a very attractive leads to help improve the chemistry and popularity of the couple and show.

In Vincenzo the FL actress was really pretty and stylish, even though I didn't like her character, but the actress was gorgeous and look wise was fitting with Joong Ki. Meanwhile Hyun Bin just looks bland and old, at least to me she does. They are trying to create a romance subplot between her and Song Joong Ki's character, yet didn't make sure to make them fitting look wise so the chemistry, and overall vibe be perfect and help the watchers enjoy and accept the romance.

To make it worse, they made her character annoying, they could at least make her loveable lol

About episode 4, I loved the heartwarming moments between grandpa and Do Jun when they were in that car big garage, and I love how everyday the old man realized more and more that Do Jun is more worthy than all of his old annoying sons and daughter. His daughter is that old yet she act like a spoiled teen girl especially around her father and husband, it was kinda funny how both of them tolerate her bullshit.

I would love to see her accomplishing more than her brothers though, mostly cause I hate the whole logic that just cause she is a girl, she is supposed to be more of a decoration supporting her brothers image crap. It's not that surprising in that time since feminism only started blowing up nowadays and the drama events are in 90's currently, but it will still be nice to have her prove them wrong even though she is also greedy and selfish like all of them.

Dooyoung's CEO speech about how his five sons are united and better was actually painful since indeed Sooyoung's hires are all useless, spoiled, and greedy as hell. It was cute when the grandpa introduced Do Jun to him proudly and ignored his sons which shows how much of a low trust he has in them lmao

Surprisingly the drama keeps getting better and better and episode 4 was amazing!

Of course they helped me a lot with learning English, along with listening to English songs too, but now I also mostly listen to Asian music lmao and trying to learn some Chinese, Korean, and Japanese whenever I can.

To be honest I think it was the 90's 2000s and maybe 2010's that had the best western shows during them. Nowadays all western shows that I happen to hear people talking about don't seem that interesting at all and the movies are just remakes of older movies. Either that or they milk the shit out of successful older movies by making them have about 3000 parts. Creativity at it's finest!

And when it comes to romance, western romance is just awful to me with the rush and very gross tropes, at least in Asian ones it feels more romantic, relaxing, and pure since they mostly kiss and hold hands after dating for like 3 years lol

OMGG I agree so much with you. I thought I was just messed up for getting annoyed at the child. I adore kids and…
Same, I hate how unrealistic everything is all because there are kids and their desires must be put above anything else. They basically be messing with Kang Hee's career with their kids crap.

Also at this type of dramas, the kids always end up creating unnecessary mess and drama between the leads, when all what we watch the drama for is the romance, not the childish chaos and the kid's selfish desires and extreme obsession with getting all the attention, leading their parent to be miserable and stressed.

At least you like kids, while people be treating me like a psychopath for not hyping them nor wanting to deal with them at all so you're not really a bitch lmao

Nope lol I watched a good amount of western movies back when I was very young mostly to improve my English language, I wasn't a fan or obsessed with them like Asian shows though, but now I stopped watching them completely. About western drama, I watched Supernatural, that is the only drama that I watched a good amount of whenever it was airing on TV and I had nothing better to do, due to my love for horror dark plots and the bromance, but at some point I lost interest and stopped in like the last season or so, and I skipped many episodes actually while watching. Another dramas that I watched about 5-10 episodes of only are How To Get Away with Murder and Gossip Girl.

Oh, and I watched friends, The Big Bang Theory, How I met Your Mother, Two and Half Man back when I was a kid since my mom loved them so she basically forced me to watch them with her while eating lunch, they were good though to be fair.

Back then I still used to watch TV with my mother so when I couldn't go online to watch anime or whatever I actually liked, I would just watch some of whatever was airing at the time. Now I never watch TV and only watch stuff on my lap top so I don't bother with anything that isn't actually interesting to me.

Nowadays I do hear about new western movies and dramas online to keep up with whatever is happening around the world, but don't check them out and Marvel movies are just not my taste anymore. I did watch the basic ones (Captain America, Iron Man, The first trilogy of Spiderman, X-Men, Wolverine, The Hulk, Batman, Superman, The Avengers two or three first movies, Thor first movie...etc), but now just hearing about them make me feel bored since there are too much of them now and I got tired of the super hero crap. I guess last time I watched anything western was before like 5 years? Or so.

If I'm gonna be honest, there are only three western movies that I truly loved and watched more than 1 time back when I was young which are Troy, Alexander, and Interview with the vampire. Since I was into Greek, Roman stuff, besides Alexander and Interview with the vampires had some gay elements which was very rare back then lol

It has been a hbit of cable and satelite television of Korea by using LGBTQ storylines and then turn them into…
Makes total sense, especially since Won Seok adoptive parents are hardcore Christians, so yeah he totally would be worried about them knowing him being gay lol I sure hope that be the case and they make it clear by the end of the drama and don't end it as "just bromance" bullshit. Though it seems they will be clear since they already mentioned that that cafe dude's parents are gay men, and it could be the reason why Won Seok protected him cause he was upset over the rapist brick being a homophobic.

This will make me sound like a bitch I know, I'm seriously not trying to be a hater, just stating my honest opinion here.

For me the drama is decent, the leads got a very nice chemistry and I love both the actor and actress playing the characters. Though not a huge fan of the plot nor the cringe cliché romance moments honestly. It feels too childish to me with it's type of humor, and if it wasn't for the drama having 4 episodes only and me liking the main cast, I probably wouldn't continue watching.

I know a plot about sick kids...etc will make most people become an instant fan and get all emotional, and yeah indeed it's sad and awful that some people go through such a thing in real life, but I'm not into stories that give too much focus to child characters cause in real life I can't stand kids so that shit doesn't work for me, just like when you're in work and some co-worker decides to bring her kid for whatever reason and expect everyone to go crazy over the kid, leaving everything to play with them and make these annoying sounds and made up words while interacting with them, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable instead so I either walk away or pretend to be blind and deaf to whatever is going on near me lmao

Obviously I knew that the kid actress will get a good amount of screen time judging by the cover and she is doing a good job for a child, I can tell she will have a great career if she is seriously considering to become a professional actress in future, but am just here for the leads and glad that they both got a leading role. Especially Yoon Park since I was upset over his awful role in Forecasting Love and Weather, he is more fitted for a sweet guy role instead of playing a dumb jerk.

3 episodes in and honestly only reason I keep watching is D.O since he is a great actor, but the drama feels so freaking cartoonish and boring to me as if it was made for 12 years old kids, not actual adults to enjoy. Plot is so predictable and non unique, and the amount of unrealistic shit is baffling. You yell racist so much, that the word has lost its meaning. It's that filter because of the mood and atmosphere…
I get what you mean, but for the parts in Korea, they use filters for the past parts to give the old retro vibe I believe, I get that. They didn't use said filters in parts filmed in Korea in present yet used it in Turkey in present. If they are so into the mood thing then they should use said same filter they used in Turkey everywhere both past and present so that nonene would nag about it at all.

About the Mexico part I used to set an example and basically show where did this whole filter racist thing started to begin with, and why it's better to avoid using it since it could lead to lots of backlash. Just like how the N word was created and mostly used in USA and so it shouldn't be used anywhere in this day and age carelessly since it's not a good thing at all.

I get you're trying hard to get your point through, and I'm not trying to be offending to you but I still don't agree with your opinion. Though yes you're right, this discussion got so long it became exhausting for both of us since no one wants to accept the other's point of view.

To be honest, I won't drop the whole drama over this since I love Song Joong Ki and the plot is actually interesting, just like I still watched Sh**ing Stars till the end (Only to figure out it wasn't worth it even if we somehow manage to forget the first episode sadly, that drama was a total failure), but I still think it was a very annoying thing and it shouldn't be done in first place. It will still affect my rating and I really hope South Korea will learn more about these issues and topics instead of constantly using the ignorance card they love to use every time.

Anyway have a nice day!
