This will make me sound like a bitch I know, I'm seriously not trying to be a hater, just stating my honest opinion here.
For me the drama is decent, the leads got a very nice chemistry and I love both the actor and actress playing the characters. Though not a huge fan of the plot nor the cringe cliché romance moments honestly. It feels too childish to me with it's type of humor, and if it wasn't for the drama having 4 episodes only and me liking the main cast, I probably wouldn't continue watching.
I know a plot about sick kids...etc will make most people become an instant fan and get all emotional, and yeah indeed it's sad and awful that some people go through such a thing in real life, but I'm not into stories that give too much focus to child characters cause in real life I can't stand kids so that shit doesn't work for me, just like when you're in work and some co-worker decides to bring her kid for whatever reason and expect everyone to go crazy over the kid, leaving everything to play with them and make these annoying sounds and made up words while interacting with them, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable instead so I either walk away or pretend to be blind and deaf to whatever is going on near me lmao
Obviously I knew that the kid actress will get a good amount of screen time judging by the cover and she is doing a good job for a child, I can tell she will have a great career if she is seriously considering to become a professional actress in future, but am just here for the leads and glad that they both got a leading role. Especially Yoon Park since I was upset over his awful role in Forecasting Love and Weather, he is more fitted for a sweet guy role instead of playing a dumb jerk.
me too......can't see another good drama getting ruined with this romance BS.
I don't watch western ones at all. They aren't my taste, I only became a fan of dramas/movies after getting into Asian stuff. I used to only watch anime before, and sometimes western animations if they were good enough.
me too......can't see another good drama getting ruined with this romance BS.
Ikr! it's hard to find people who dislike the typical romance tropes so am glad that we got a lot in common lol
Yeah I watch dramas from many Asian countries like Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Filipin (Though when it comes to Vietnam, Taiwan, Filipin, and Thailand I mostly watch BL stuff).
3 episodes in and honestly only reason I keep watching is D.O since he is a great actor, but the drama feels so freaking cartoonish and boring to me as if it was made for 12 years old kids, not actual adults to enjoy. Plot is so predictable and non unique, and the amount of unrealistic shit is baffling. I know dramas can't always be 100% realistic, but still this is way too much for my liking and ML is so freaking dumb like seriously...
You yell racist so much, that the word has lost its meaning. It's that filter because of the mood and atmosphere…
I get what you mean, but for the parts in Korea, they use filters for the past parts to give the old retro vibe I believe, I get that. They didn't use said filters in parts filmed in Korea in present yet used it in Turkey in present. If they are so into the mood thing then they should use said same filter they used in Turkey everywhere both past and present so that nonene would nag about it at all.
About the Mexico part I used to set an example and basically show where did this whole filter racist thing started to begin with, and why it's better to avoid using it since it could lead to lots of backlash. Just like how the N word was created and mostly used in USA and so it shouldn't be used anywhere in this day and age carelessly since it's not a good thing at all.
I get you're trying hard to get your point through, and I'm not trying to be offending to you but I still don't agree with your opinion. Though yes you're right, this discussion got so long it became exhausting for both of us since no one wants to accept the other's point of view.
To be honest, I won't drop the whole drama over this since I love Song Joong Ki and the plot is actually interesting, just like I still watched Sh**ing Stars till the end (Only to figure out it wasn't worth it even if we somehow manage to forget the first episode sadly, that drama was a total failure), but I still think it was a very annoying thing and it shouldn't be done in first place. It will still affect my rating and I really hope South Korea will learn more about these issues and topics instead of constantly using the ignorance card they love to use every time.
Honestly speaking, episode 1 was just bad. They went too over the top in trying to make her seem depressed and…
I highly agree, I know this will sound rude to some people but when I saw how the FL behaved and how she dressed I was like it's not surprising she gets bullied like that by everyone, like did they really need to make her that...unlikable in a way? Being utterly unstylish and awfully meek is like the greatest way to turn yourself into a bully magnet and make even the none bullies kinda look down on you even if they try hard to hide it to not be mean lol
Also yes as usual I end up falling hard for Im Si Wan, he is so flawless I can't handle it <3
The ML is so freaking adorable, love Siwan and can't help but watch everything he acts in, he is such a gorgeous man with a very chill, likeable, and peaceful vibe <3 not gonna lie first episode was boring as hell to me even though lots happened in it, but the second episode was pretty cute and funny.
Of course everyone in the town will judge and dislike the FL since she is a young loner woman living alone blah blah they love judging women, especially unmarried ones everywhere it seems and her meek ass personality gives them more of a reason to bully her. Even fellow women will say shit about her lmao
I'm worried about the ending of second episode though, hope the glasses dude won't turn out to be a creep who will bother her somehow, and I always wonder why they love having super rude and annoying teen girl characters with shit attitude in lots of Kdramas? Like why?! I seriously despise this type of characters to death.
me too......can't see another good drama getting ruined with this romance BS.
100% agree! I prefer mature and realistic romance than the overdone ones they keep torturing us with and make me feel extremely uncomfortable while watching. I believe only very young audience will find their cringe appealing honestly.
Even if it's a romance between two literal adults like office romance dramas the adults will act like 13 years old teenagers for some reason, and it just pisses me off greatly.
50 episodes will make it too draggy and I know since I went as far as watching many 60-100+ episodes historical…
Your comment made me laugh due to how accurate it is, yes the amount of characters that I highly loved but ended up dying out of the blue, or bad non suitable endings for both main characters and villains is apparently a thing in Chinese dramas. They love to make everything so tragic, unfair, and depressing for some reason. Also they basically use the same character tropes and romance clichés over and over and over again.
And for some reason most of the time my favorite character isn't the main character and they end up dying for the sake of main character or something of the sort.
Especially if it's a romance focused drama and if their happen to be bromance moments the ML will have more chemistry and romantic moments with this best friend/second male lead/rival than the FL lmao great examples for this lack of enough chemistry between the two leads but great bromance/friendship are Ancient Detective, Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain, The Taoism Grandmaster, Fighter of the Destiney, and My Roommate is a Detective.
For some reason in all these dramas cases the ML has some seriously romantic and sweet moments with a fellow dude than he has with the supposedly FL (Though to be honest I prefer BL/bromance over straight romance so I guess it doesn't bother me that much, it's just ironic lol).
I find South korean very racist, they never show respect to any country in their dramas or in their comments when…
Exactly! Just cause they like the culture of some country, it doesn't mean they should mindlessly glorify it and it's people, and you don't need to watch that drama, not only is the first episode painful to watch, but the drama overall was garbage with a very bland and bad-written plot and characters.
You yell racist so much, that the word has lost its meaning. It's that filter because of the mood and atmosphere…
Yeah about the idol going to Africa, that was Sh**ing Stars, I mentioned it in one of comments in this same discussion about how racist it was.
And I still don't understand what is the relation with the murder thing and the filter...how come they didn't use said filter before in like the 10000 other dramas where they murdered people?
Especially when filmed in Korea they never do it. It's known why some countries like USA use this damn filters and so I think it's better to not do such a thing that could lead to getting backlash that could easily be avoided even if they wanna use the "to fit the mood" excuse because what is the point? The drama's ratings aren't gonna tank if they show a country the way it really looks like and the whole mood thing really doesn't make sense at all no matter how I think about it and be open minded... Let me ask you again do you also believe the same thing about American movies that are filmed in Europe or USA itself compared to ones filmed lets say...in Mexico since it's a very well known example? How come they tend to use yellow filter in the Mexico ones but not the ones in their own country? Why the "MOOD" thing only applies to Mexico in this example?!
In this day and age it's easy to know what's wrong and what's right and what can be considered offending so shouldn't they bother learn about it at least instead of using lame excuses or fake ignorance they keep using over and over again.
Also do you see me saying all their dramas are racist? No I talked about this drama and that other drama and why is that? Because they didn't do this filter or overall racist crap in many other dramas.
Besides when the people who are offended by said racism due to it giving negative reputation to their own countries and making them uncomfortable, I find it quite displeasing when people who aren't affected at all by it/from other countries to say that they just wanna apply racism in everything since it's basically victim blaming in a way.
You yell racist so much, that the word has lost its meaning. It's that filter because of the mood and atmosphere…
Then why they don't use these non colorful sad backgrounds while filming in Korea itself? Most of their shows are filmed in their country and many of these shows are thrillers/action/crime...etc filled with sad and dangerous shit, how come they don't use said yellow gross filters to fit the mood then, but use them when it comes to other countries?
They should show things/places the way they really are cause they represent them in their dramas to the whole world and their own country to see, and so they should make a decent, realistic, and respectful representation, and just cause a country looks pretty it doesn't mean it's not proper for filming action/dramatic stuff.
With all respect to you here, but what kind of an excuse is that? Don't forget that South Korea is indeed filled with racism and xenophobia to the core especially from the older generations who rule the country and it's overall mindset. Even many of the younger generations like Kpop idols do and say lots of offending racist stuff and get called out for it daily, we can't pretend to not see it when someone does wrong thing no matter what country they are from even if we love Kpop/dramas or like Korean culture overall.
If there were 0 stars, I would give it. İstanbul is not yellow. İSTANBUL IS NOT YELLOW!!! First, learn to respect…
Yeah I also felt uncomfortable while watching that part, I hate these freaking filters. Just like in Western shows when they show Mexico/Latino, third world countries, and Arabian/middle eastern countries they use this gross looking shit making them look dusty, retarded, and depressing.
I find South korean very racist, they never show respect to any country in their dramas or in their comments when…
That reminds me of first episode of Sh**ting Stars, that episode pissed me off so much due to how awfully racist and rude it was to all Africans, but there were some people who would just tell you to get over it as if it's not an actual issue all because they themselves weren't Africans, yet they tell the Africans who felt offended to shut up.
Just cause some people are obsessed with Kpop/Kdrama or Korean culture overall they would go as far as trying to defend their clear flaws, insulting and wrong behavior and mindset sadly when South Korea is filled with awful issues that shouldn't exist in this day and age to begin with. I also love Kpop/Kdramas...etc but I won't pretend to be blind about all problems related to the country or their entertainment industry as a whole.
For me the drama is decent, the leads got a very nice chemistry and I love both the actor and actress playing the characters.
