I said twice in my comment that I love the leads. I think he is a great actor. He was excellent in Light for the Night recently, too. He doesn’t need exceptional visuals to slay his roles. Not even this role even though the author describes the character as the most breathtakingly beautiful man in the world.
I love the leads but I’m on ch134 of 254 of the source novel and cannot stop picturing Ren Min and Winwin as the main characters! But this part of the story is in their youth so far so this might be why I can’t picture Meng Zi Yi and Dylan Wang. Maybe as they age I will. I wonder how far astray the screen adaptation will be. A Splendid Match was basically a new story with some elements and scenarios kept and still done (mostly) well. The novel though was so much better. 🤞🤞🤞

Drama 8/10 Novel 9.5/10 Another adaptation (this one from the web novel "The Reborn Noble Girl Is Hard to Find") that only uses the names of characters but rewrites the entire story. (Like the recent Overdo.) I started this then found and started the novel. They’re nothing alike at all! I’m loving the novel so much but also liked this drama. Not sure why they had to rewrite everything. Sure, change the transmigration aspect like The Story of Minglan made her precocious, that would’ve worked here too and kept the rest of the story.
Loved it mostly (especially Choi Dae Hoon slaying his roll! ) due to the great acting. I think everyone gave it their all. My suspension of disbelief was strong while watching but one gripe I keep thinking about is how he was not given identity scrubbing with new details like in any other drama. I mean if he was such a high priority secret then why give it away with the DENIED ACCESS when they ran his prints.

Me, every time I see a lead I love (in this case both of them) in a new drama. I finally learned watching to support someone means nothing but a waste of time. I also learned to drop dramas that don’t absolutely make me happy. Life is too short.
I loved this when I watched it, only just a couple of years ago (I’m late to Cdramaworld.) But recently discovered the novel which has a transmigration theme! My genre! I came back a watched again as I was reading and can understand all the changes made and still love the drama but the novel is so richly written I can’t love it enough. What the other commenter said was very good but I just want to add Minglan is a transmigrator in the novel who is wary and watching and listening and learning how to survive in a 5yo body of a girl whose mother had just died in childbirth. Her wariness is so much understandable when you know that she only wants to survive in a world where women have no say. She plays dumb for fear of being singled out. Having attention brought on her would mean even more attacks. This adaptation is very good but the novel really delves into her mindset and also how she will watch a situation, let it escalate to trap the wrongdoers. It lets people underestimate her.
