This is my favorite of the 3 Musketeer stories. Chakrit makes the age gap love story sizzle and doesn't dance around it like the leads in Maya Tawan. Margie's character is a bit over the top, but she did better a good job in acting with someone 10+ years older than her (better than Yaya - altho her acting has gotten so much better since the lakorn was produced).
I didn't feel like the gambling issue was swept under the rug like another post felt. One of the themes thru the Musketeer series is "You get what you hate." Waree hates gambling, Zama sees gambling & a high end casino as his dream. After Waree becomes emotionally entangled she understood Zama is targeting the rich, not the poor like her father aaaaand "You get what you hate." even if you never like it at least you can understand it. Classic opposites attract theme.
I suppose I'm rather partial to the theme b/c my hubs and I are total opposites ;-)
This lakorn is in my top 10 favorites. I would recommend to anyone who likes period drama to give this one a go.
Andy who usually plays funny mischievous natural characters plays a cold and socially awkward doctor. I loved seeing his way of portraying Ruj. The way he stiltedly walks, holds himself and even eats - it's amazing how Andy truly becomes/created the awkward stiff mannered Ruj. I also like Mint, the N'ek, her character was more subtle than some of the other reviewers are giving her credit for. N'ek is 10-12 years younger than P'ek, and she has a soft voice, but this doesn't make her a doormat. She doesn't talk to Ruj for days because she's angry at him. She completely walks away from him and the servants that call to her to not leave. Another big moment of autonomy is when she decides to leave the only home she's ever known to be a nursemaid to one of the other supporting characters. Doormat she is not.
To address another comment, this isn't a Rawr or Slap Kiss kind of Lakorn. This is a red lip lady (gotta love the red lip ladies!), nuanced naive N'ek and cold P'ek kind of period drama. It's not as full on slap/kiss dramatics as some of the more recent period pieces (such as the remake of Massaya-which is great too - much more melodrama though - go check it out if you haven't watched it). This one takes it's time, develops the characters and really focuses on what the characters days were like.
I feel like I was more immersed into the period of the day, the focus on the home etc than many other period dramas. Every time I watch it I want to go sew something afterwards, LOL! But hey, I may be biased since this IS one of my all time fav lakorns. ;-) Happy Watching!
That picture looks old. DL should get a photo from Because This is My First Life since it's more recent. His style in BTiMFL reminds me of Park Bo Gum.
Any other dramas of them acting alongside other than The Handsome Cowboy? I refuse to watch THC because out of…
That's too bad about the negative comments. It was a little cheesy at times, but I thought they had great chemistry and was worth the watch. When you have some time on your hands give THC a try if for nothing else the chemistry.
It was cute. Binged the first 8 episodes, and a few days later finished the dorama. I'm not saying I loved the main characters, they were silly and flawed, but they were cute. I honestly loved the Aunt's character and her own romantic sub story best ;-)
This is in my top ten favorite lakors. It's not for people new to the Lakorn genre. It's intense, emotional and moves the soul for people who are hurt for no fault of their own. Both leads had the uppermost in character development. Wee became a broken man, no pride whatsoever as a consequence of is actions. Rin who started out as sympathetic and virginal grew into such a strong, hard woman and put him through hell after he raped her. Hell is different depending on who you are. The hell she chose for him hurt him just as intensely as how he hurt her. When she left him with their baby he was alone. He had such hang ups about not being loved by his father and mother (then they died) then the woman he had strong emotions towards cut all ties with him. Now completely utterly alone with no hope of living on. He lost his fire and his will. Even he never made her lose fire and will. She got revenge and the balance between the two's personalities were complete by the end. She became strong and firm, Wee became supple understanding of love and his wrong doings. The man that Wee became due to Rin is a man that can say he's sorry and not make the drastic mistakes he'd made prior in his life ever again. No body and I mean no body in this lakorn keeps their nose clean, but it's one of the best drama's I've ever seen. It packs a punch, shows you beautiful, ugly, desire, passion, twisted love, true love and redemption.
I watched this mv and man it looks so cute! But I watched the Taiwanese version this year and I can't get…
I'll be honest, I skipped through the emotional crazy and went to the last few episodes for both the Taiwanese and K-version because I just couldn't handle it. (I just read recaps). Although since this is a Thai version I'm going to hold out hope the writers won't do anything to the kiddo! *keeps fingers crossed*
Thank you for Lovefia's description! It beats sharerice's description by far! Looking forward to watching this one - with subs or not - pantomime goes a long ways when watching shows in languages you don't know well! ^_^
