What's the drama that isn't a political drama?

Damn. If that is true, that is some shady shit and is unfair to the entire cast and creative team. Let's hope this is all speculation because I can see why they call this shit in entertainment circles as "black marketing."

Thank you for the pointers! I prefer dramas that aren't romance heavy but slightly laced with it. Complex political dramas are useful to mentally exercise the mind.

Wow, the way y'all riding for NIF has me bloody curious to watch. I started a few minutes into episode 1 two years but I got sidetracked from work as I needed travelled out of town. But now I have something to do on the weekends.!!JOL was amazing. What is sleep at this point?

I binged the entire series in 2 days and I haven't recovered from JOL's awesomeness. I love the protagonist and the way he goes about things. And the supporting characters are equally as intriguing with grey areas. I have to find something in the meantime which is why I ask. Looks like another few sleepless nights if I watch NOF.

Thank you. I know what you mean for dramas to not only be character driven but also be written with a strong, narrative pace. There are only two dramas that I have seen carry this for me and that is The Story of Yanxi Palace and Joy of Life. Everything else has been subpar.

Completely agree. I always read comments saying they prefer so and so because Dilraba doesn't look pure Chinese. Which is bullshit bcos those are some rich undertones of racism. Actors from minority backgrounds have to work twice as hard just to get a fraction of the success their peers enjoy. This is one of the reasons why i stan so hard for Dilraba.

But this comes as a double standard because they target only actresses.
And has long term effects on actors professionally and on their mental health. These companies need to do better and build up a better framework to
promote their shows. Hopefully, these actors have people keeping them sound and safe.

Go Go Squad and Ashes of Love were big hits true but just like Eternal love, lacked a viable script and relied heavily on its leads to carry the series.

Dilraba did model prior but she wasn't modeling for big brands like she is now. Regardless whether or not her dramas are hits, brands will continue to swamp to her because she has a unique look and has built a large fanbase in such a short time. This equals dollar signs. Yang zi has always talked about her acting from a young age but only gathering her fanbase now and is constantly being criticized for taking on roles that refer to her "as the beautiful fairy" which have netizens ridiculing her looks. I find that shit cruel and i am happy she's finding success now. But Dilraba really is the one to watch. It'll be interesting to see when covid finally dies down, just how management will run any international appearances and contracts etc

Ranking, endorsements, roles, appearances all add to an actors visibility and longevity

Not necessarily speaking of ranking but more in line of long term endorsements with luxury businesses like YSL, Clarins, Loreal Paris, Mikimoto etc who all support Dilraba and internationally and locally renowned. Last year, Prada was Zheng Shuang's first luxury brand deal. Which is weird considering she has been in the game much longer - which only last 9 days! Brands need to tap into Yang zi a bit more as she certainly has pull. Dilraba probably appeals more to these brands long term marketing strategy

If its true, terminating her contract will be a big mistake on their part. Aside from Zhao Liying and Yang Mi, no one is really doing it like Dilraba right now. It makes sense to keep both contracts going.

Why has it taken this long for companies to realise that actresses can coexist in an industry and not always be in competition with each other?

Thats the best part, we aren't just here to worship our faves, we are actively responding to the content, characters, storyline, narrative etc
