Well, it's time to look for some red lights or some red-lighted scenes instead 😉
There were some questionable editing and audio choices, and the pacing was all over the place. However, the story itself was pretty good and the visuals were gorgeous.

Yeah I understand what you mean and its true too that their careers will be gone if this got aired. But I love both the actors so much and have been waiting for years since I got into bl and got to know about this. I have not even read the novel yet in the hope this will air and then I will read the novel.
About the produced my some other country with some other actors, I can't even imagine it since they both are already set in our minds as the leads. Just why are they so famous 😭 ik I am being silly but still..

The Korean version does not use candlesticks, so your comment is completely invalid as the one who wrote this Chinese version, not the Korean one, is who came up with “something so outlandish” as what you call ordinary department store candlesticks though the ML makes them himself with some message on them and his wish to be with her for all time. It’s a common theme globally, that one’s heartfelt (especially love-fueled) wish will be heard by the gods and they will find a way to give you more chances to fulfill it. 3. As for your suggestion of “GYPSY MAGIC,” uhhh, I don’t know why you think it would be less “outlandish” for Chinese OR Korean dramas to feature Romani people or their culture at all, but take a brief look at a map of where they’ve lived over time. You’ll easily see that China and Korea and East Asia in general are NOT places their vast travels have taken them.
The Korean original ties into their own spiritual beliefs, not those of people they’ve never encountered. This remake I can’t speak for, but even though candles aren’t the mechanism for the Korean version, the spark of light from candles makes more sense in Mainland China than magic from Romani people who would be complete strangers to them and whose relics just would not exist in many places across China (unless you want to count things made in Chinese factories to sell as if they are mystical and magical, not manufactured for money). Anything can serve as a “carrier” of magical or miraculous phenomena in stories. You just have to tell it well. It seems this one did not, but don’t blame a show you never saw for the changes made by one you did. That is just smacking ignoramus on your own head and loudly screaming for people to pay attention to your misguided commentary and the insult to a whole nation when they had nothing to do with your gripe.
Keep on hating for no sensible reason, though, and blaming people for others’ shortcomings. I’m sure you are good at playing victim day to day for your own convenience, too, if you can get this ridiculous about something you never watched as an example for why you never watch things from a given nation. Racist much? Then again, even ‘Gypsy’ is often considered a slur, so… you’ve used a pejorative word for the ones whose culture you wish would be stupidly put in East Asian works and you’ve insulted Koreans all while acknowledging you haven’t even watched what you falsely believe to be the source of these candles. Are we watching the same show? Nobody deduced it was suicide. They was sure it was homicide until when the people's last wish video was released on television. Until than the police never said it was suicide lol. Only Yi Jen was able to find it was suicide with evidence. It was called the Last Wish serial murder case, not Last Wish Suicide case. Until the last wishes of the victim's were televised, the police were searching for a serial killer. Even then they didn't just rule it as suicide, they wanted to dig deeper to find everybody behind this.
For me Joseph Chang's portrayal of a high functioning ASD individual was pretty good. One of the best IMO. I also liked Tiffany Hsu's reporter who actually turned out to be his contrast.
This is what I call MASTERPIECE. A1 cinematography, writing, acting, score; it just can't get better than this for both for a viewer, and a filmmaker. Just brilliant on every level. This wasn't just a movie, it was an experience. Also, I've never said this, but this is probably the first black & white film I've seen where the lack of colour did not take anything away from the film.

SY sees article -> keeps quiet and doesnt say a thing to YS abt getting arrested cuz YS had no idea she'd get arrested-> in some months YS gets arrested and goes to jail -> SY lives happily ever after.
instead she called YS to tell her she'd get arrested in the future -> YS freaks out and threatens SY to tell her abt the clues that'll get her caught -> SY's life becomes a living hell.
Joseph Chang.........hubba, hubba! Became a big fan after "Drunken to Love You." Nobody wears a black leather jacket, black pants and white t-shirt like he does. Also a big fan of his films, some of which are missing here like "Sky on Fire" with Daniel Wu.
Why is no one talking about the music here. If there is one thing I always like about the Netflix series, it's always the songs and pieces they choose. Does anyone know all the songs used here or maybe a playlist? Since many of them were old, I have a hard time finding them all.

Great drama.... If you are watching the full version on youtube, it is missing the epilogue so don't forget to watch the post credit scene of ep.22!
