Just rewatched with decent subs (magpie bridge brigade thank you!), and oh god this is always the best! The costumes, the plot, the acting, I love every inch of this drama!

episode 66 and I cannot help but be creeped out by the emperor. I like this drama but this particular plot of him being interested in Fl's sister is very cringe. I know things used to work like that in historical times but still it's so difficult to watch that!

Of course she bloody is. That was 10+ years ago when you met. She has lost her bio sister, her BFF, had 2 miscarriages, got banished, had to kill the man she loves, her family got punished and almost killed, has been constantly schemed against since she entered the palace and more. What do you expect her to be like after going through all that?

zhen huan just lost her child and is super sad about it (how a normal person would be?) and everyone treats her like she's crazy and the emperor, who "loves her dearly", is treating her like that...and on top of that he doesn't even try to reason and talk to her about her grieves...he just sleeps with consort an everyday...this is so terrible 😔 poor zhen huan

Oh, I didn't read the novel. I just watched the donghua which is available on YouTube. But yes, I feel the same about their relationship - exactly like "The Untamed" not as obvious as "Heaven's Official Blessing".

About your second question (whether BeiLu remembers BiZhi): I have to say the donghua is very different from the drama. No one forgot anyone in the first place. But you're right about the drama - BiZhi remembers BeiLu.

I would say it is a bromance! Perhaps more subtle than some, but they're basically soulmates and their bond is really touching.

viki synopsis makes it clearly sound like BL or close to it - and the way they glance at each other its definitely not just bromance

I'm surprised this drama doesn't have a bromance tag!

I have to admit I didn’t really enjoy the first episodes since I kept comparing it to the donghua. But it got much more exciting after the “chess game” episode.
Episode 25 is my favorite by far — sweet, soft, and heartwarming.
Looking forward to Season 2!

One of the many subtle, yet truly beautiful things I loved about Ya She was Bi Zhi and Bei Lu’s last meeting before Bei Lu’s memory was wiped clean. Come to think of it, it was Bei Lu’s friendliness and sincerity when he portrayed Qing Zi Yi that made Bi Zhi cherish his friendship with Zi Yi and Zi Yi himself more. It’s a lovely parallel, which becomes visible only when you think about it a bit more: in the first episodes, Bi Zhi was drawn to Bei Lu only because he reminded him of an untimely lost friend; but, in fact, his special attitude to Qing Zi Yi was partly due to the fact that Zi Yi reminded him of Bei Lu. Love it, when they do things like this in stories about travelling in time.

their bond really are something.. not even a hug for the whole 30 eps, yet you can really feel the yearning in their eyes
