I’m loving the drama but only because of the leads. Some things that really bother me: - Director is freaking lazy: way too similar to Ashes of love. It’s almost copy/paste sometimes that it is ridiculous. - Yu Mo has way too much screen time. Sometimes more than the ML which sucks. They did the same in AOL except that the 2ML in AOL was incredibly attractive, compelling (in how broken and dark he became) and easily shippable with the FL. Yu Mo is just a waste of screen time. I skip all his scenes as he has 0 chemistry with the FL (no excuse as YZ is a good actress and has chemistry with most of her co actors). - The pace is WAY too slow. This is not a slice of life drama where slow burn works. AOL and TMOPB were great because the pace was fantastic, with barely any filler scenes.
Yandan is missing out so much on Yumo. How can you not fall in love with the guy
Because he is honestly not attractive. And they clearly made him look even less attractive to kill any potential 2nd lead syndrom and make sure the ML wouldn't be outshined (he definitely isn't). I hate talking about looks but these dramas are vain and play with the viewers' vanity. Yumo is not attractive at all.
I really don't get why the FL speaks with that accent and constant mumbling/pouting. She is a good actress but her diction is terrible and really distracting.
Because not every drama can be on Netflix? Just because it’s SKK doesn’t mean it will be a hit or make a lot…
I would normally agree (I'm not a SJK stan) but considering the type of dramas I see on Netflix (much less well known and high quality actors/production) it makes you wonder why they aren't. SKJ has rarely had flops apart from some of his movies. Most of his dramas are hits, he still has a huge fan following (Korea and abroad).
I wish SJK would try some radically different roles. This just reminds me of Vincenzo somewhat and I hated Vincenzo…
He has literally tried evey genre though - like everything: a wolf in a movie, revenge, idol/comedy, romantic, melodrama, action, fantasy, sci fi. etc. Not sure how much more diversity you'd want. I guess his choices are based on the scripts he receives.
Then it's better to binge watch after finished airing all episodes. or Netflix originals release all episodes…
Yes, I know this but their strategy is silly as this is how they miss out on better ratings and a bigger audience. I know many people think like me - I would be willing to get a Netflix subscription for a few months to support a great drama like this if I was getting more episodes per week. But if I'm having to wait and binge watch then I will do it via other platforms. Some people get disengaged and watch other dramas when the wait is too long. They should release at least 3 episodes throughout the week. But anyway, it is what it is. I just find it stupid.
Thai dramas actually release one episode per week. But anyways, you shouldn't have to stop watching amazing dramas…
I know I could but you don't get the same hype and energy than by watching with everyone else, discussing it, etc. C dramas are of much lesser quality (expect a few great historical ones) but they understand their audience and provide some great balance in their schedule to keep people want for more but still give them what they want. I just end up getting frustrated and not looking forward to episodes with K dramas.
I hate how slow paced the schedule for K dramas is...it is the reason why I switched to C dramas. You can't enjoy a drama that releases only twice a week. So annoying!!!!
The ML is exceptional, the drama is gripping/well written with top notch CGI and production. I like Jung So Min but the ML is carriyng this drama. I'm not feeling their chemistry - it feels a bit forced and for some reason, her accent/tone feels sloppy. When the real Naksu comes back I hope they switch back to the other actress as I'm really keen to get some kickass action and she was super charismatic.
How come she ends up with Yumo ? Is it satisfying ending that way? because I really don’t ship them from watching…
Come on, absolutely no way the FL would end up with a supporting actor when the Ml is so famous. Never happens in C dramas. They either end up together or someone dies/disappear.
Cheng Yi makes torture, sadness, heartbreak look so beautiful and ethearal. Wonder if he has a pain kink. He always looks like the most delicate damsel in distress who is the passionately desired by the FL. Haha
The emperor seems to be super dodgy, as if he is either hiding his relationship with the ML’s mum or some sort of birth secret. Is this the case in the book? Thx
Episode 10 is very beautiful. I even need to re-watch right after I am done to savor once again the beauty of…
And the best moment of this drama so far IMO: when she wrote her confession on the palm of his hand. How subtle, beautiful it was...really took my breath away how he suddenly felt so touched but hid it and how she was so pure and didn't overreact and just accepted it.

CY is so so good. His acting has so much depth and emotion but he knows how to be subtle without being dead in the eyes. I LOVE when actors go all in when kissing or in romantic scenes - that's why I loved Mark Chao in TMOPB but found Deng Lun weaker in AOL (he didn't showcase enough passion considering how much he loved Jin Mi). He is one of the few C actors, along with Wallace Chung and Mark Chao, that gives the feels in romantic dramas.
