Vegas and Pete share a love that is once in a lifetime. It is so strong, passionate, intense, comforting, healing,…
This is them to the T... Their hunger for each other is vast and insatiable and full of knives and THEY MATCH EACH OTHER IN EVERY WAY... You explained so them perfectly!
I am replying to this so I can read it later , I really wanna see your thoughts on the VP scenes.
VP are so perfect for each other, and I don't know, I just kind of feel the director put extra love in all the VP scenes!! They are all so meaningful and beautiful, like they wrote spent hours discussing the details.
"And don't you turn your back on me like this! Because..... because I'm hungry."
"Are you very hungry? Can someone else take you to eat?"
I see a lot of viewers thinking this was only about food, so I am just gonna write what I got out of this because while it partially does allude to food, in its entirety these two lines are a masterpiece even before the "Pet" part comes up.
This exchange is right at the moment Vegas is at his lowest, he has lost his sense of belonging, of having anything of value to him, he feels he literally has NOTHING left, and Pete is distraught at trying to pull Vegas out of the dark abyss Vegas is falling into...
Pete is begging, calling out, telling Vegas, letting him know that 'I'm as anchorless, as empty as you are, when you are not with me. Only you can fill me, you still have me, you make me belong, come home to me. Stay with me, don't leave me, because I HUNGER for you, I desire you, everything that you are.'
And Vegas in his inferiority complex replies disbelieving, 'You sure, you desire only me, because I am absolutely worthless, I have nothing to offer, that another person can't give you.' I feel Vegas thinks Pete wants only sex and/or love from him because in his brain he believes that Pete is so much more worthy of obtaining both love &/or sex from a less broken man than him.
What Vegas doesn't realize is that Pete's 'hunger' for him is on every level. Because yes, while Pete is physically hungry, because food without Vegas isn't the same, doesn't taste the same and he's spiritually starved too. Because Vegas gave him everything that Pete didn't even know he wanted. He's emotionally hungry too because Vegas showed him so much more and Pete's starved for affection and love and care and he's hungry for the Dom that Vegas showed him, and he's hungry for the euphoria that the physicality of Vegas taught him.
And none of this Pete can get from someone or somewhere else. Pete knows this on a molecular, subatomic level, at the core of his being. No one but Vegas can make him alive, truly alive.
But Vegas doesn't understand any of that. He's never been needed. He's never been wanted. He's always been thrown away and ripped apart and beaten and the only person that he ever looked up to was just lying dead in front of him. Vegas just lost his sense of self. He is so lost in his grieving, that he thinks Pete can get his hunger fulfilled from anyone, because he isn't worthy of Pete, without understanding that Pete CAN'T get, like Pete physically, emotionally, JUST CAN'T get his hunger satiated by anyone but Vegas!!
(This moment is such a masterpiece, I love it so much😭😭😭💕💕)
And right at the moment, Vegas suggests someone else will better satisfy Pete, Pete loses his mind and shouts, "You dare push me away now? Then why the hell did you say you wanted me?" The rejection stings to Pete, how dare this man think, 'that anyone else but him can satisfy, can be worthy of me, after everything we went through together. Everything you showed me...'
But even then Pete feels Vegas is moving further and further away from him, and Pete panics, breaks into tears, and cries and appeals to what he thinks Vegas wants the most from him, the last thing they talked about before he escaped, the last fight they had. Pete tells Vegas in no uncertain terms the boldest declaration of love in any BL/ Straight drama I've seen!!!! Pete is a total badass in love!!!
'I will forever be your pet, only if you never leave me. So come back to me, take care of me, love me, fill my hunger for you' (my shriveled romantic heart died, here again, cause of the Dom/Sub undertones y'all💕😭)
And if nothing, no other words pierced Vegas' completely broken psyche till now, it's these final words that get through to him because Pete essentially just declared with all his might that 'I love you, in whatever way you want me. That, I want you, I want ALL of you, your darkest desires, your broken pieces, Everything, I just want you.' And so,
"Vegas, will you turn and look at me?" (My fucking heart😭💕💕)
And at last, Vegas knows, he can't abandon this man, he can't run away from this man, his soulmate, whom he loves so much and thus he turns, to look at his Pete.....
(Ugh! This entire exchange was soooo beautiful to watch. The aesthetics, of the shimmering blue water and the dark shadows and streaming lights!!)
(Every VP scene has been a favorite of mine, but this scene easily takes the cake and the crown! Bible and Build I love you guys for giving me this.)
