This is such a great drama with gorgeous looking leads. Such a pity the subs are total rubbish. How can a streaming service do that to it's VIP paying customers. So annoying

Hong li on the way to see the Empress who has an issue with her late age pregnancy. Rushing to her palace he hears a zither playing from one of his consorts palaces, His brain situated south of his belly button kicks in and he stops to listen needless to say that consort is pregnant five mins later. I cant stop watching this saga of nookie escapades without actually seeing any romance what so ever. The empires were ruled by the mothers of these lecherous males who started being "served" at an early age thus becoming addicted to the honey pot. The Dowagers kept the honey pots ever changing so their useless offspring only thought about the next pretty face and the bedding down of same. On ep 34 of 87 .........

Goodness Hong Li is such a lech undying love forget it. So far watched to ep 23, mind you if all the girls cant wait to be bedded and have a child I suppose who could blame him. Dont actually like the character and feel so bad for Ruyi. Gosh those girls can be so vicious. Have to watch a few eps and leave it for a day or so. Will stay with it to the end.

trivial silly boring FL annoying quite unattractive the usual trope vestal virgin. Why do they have brothels well if you were married to a boring little twit that's where you would be headed in a flash. UGH when are they going to stop with the dubbed cutsie chick who supposedly has a husband who will never take a concubine but hey he gets no hanky panky from his little chick a dee. Give me a real woman for goodness sake.

Lurches between super funny and super boring lots of FF. Its almost like the writer has a split personality. Just when you think I am dumping this show you come across a scene that leaves you spluttering with laughter. On ep 22 and will watch it to the end at double speed. Not my cup of tea. Probably could have been a great show had they reduced the episodes and kept it tight.

I could not help myself so FF and came across this little gem in ep 41. Princess and the twit are escaping to Liang. The prior night she was dressed as a man in an inn where she was perfectly safe, however whilst travelling through the woods over branches etc we see the princess dressed in her gown with a long train head dress in place........ the twit accompanying her has a wee tantrum and chucks a rock down causing sentries looking for Princess to be aware that someone is in the vicinity. Princess then performs some tricks to get away. Reckon the writer has been smoking something illicit to write such tripe. Any scenes with Princess and the twit need to be FF as hearing that silly voice together with the immaturity of twit is just painful. Hello Princess' hair and dress look like she stepped out of her home to attend a banquet after travelling rough. Oh laughable stuff. Think I may just FF to all the comedic parts where direction and writing have just gone off the rails.

I can see why viewers got fed up with this story. How dumb is the ML really how often does he have to be setup by the Noble Consort much less believing the Emperor, He gets into strife by his own stupidity. What the hell was he doing near the female harem . Ep 30 is the beginning of total crap. Going to jump to the end, I also cant stand the airhead character who is supposed to be a female doctor why oh why do we have to keep being fed these silly twits who speak like little children and act not much better...... stupid stupid boring writing at this stage, not to mention poor direction and character development. I was quite enjoying the drama up until this point. Give me Mr Queen or The Rebel Princess for some real acting/great storylines.

Wow that was quite the reply. So you saw it as well the total lack of chemistry between the leads. I finally finished the series and I have to say the drama was just too full of angst and too long. To top that off the angst was repetitive, boring, annoying . So much time spent of useless spiteful gossip. Compare that to The Rebel Princess where the chemistry between the leads is off the charts. Lets face it the best rated dramas have great chemistry between the leads. Currently Mr Queen and the Rebel Princess are enjoying high viewership. Also the writing and directing of those 2 dramas is superlative. We as consumers watch the dramas for the magic between the leads. More writers and directors should consider that aspect when matching up their leads. So often they flop in this regard. Have a great day

I am so impressed with this drama. Initially did not find the ML particularly attractive but holy smoke the guy just grows on you and what a great character so masculine sweet and yummy! The FL is a pleasure to watch, fearless clever and beautiful. 10 out of 10

hello have you discovered The Rebel Princess superb acting writing plot the works

Hi watched the final ep and enjoyed the main leads but the rest was a big pass

Yes LOVE MR Queen my absolute fav KDrama, also watching The Rebel Princess superb acting by FL in fact like Mr Queen writing /directing is first class

Becoming annoyed with the simpering smile on Ming Lan's face and the frigid silly relationship she has with her husband, frankly hoping he gets a concubine that gives him the affection he is seeking. Poor sod he got taken for a ride by the Mother of his children and ended up with "frosty" as a wife. Actually when you consider the ML and FL would have been in a relationship during the filming of the series the Ming lan character portrayal is quite clever. The leads married in real life in 2018. He came across very affectionate, she avoided his eyes in many of the scenes perhaps to kill any chemistry. At ep 56 wonder if she wakes up eventually.

The most annoying episode for a long time is number 35 could not wait for it to be over. Ep 36 not much better glad its over before I threw something at the tv.

The best Kdrama for a very long time. Also one to watch is CDrama the Rebel Princess plot and acting is on par with this drama.

Initially I was skeptical about the actors portraying characters many years younger than they were. Then this miraculously stopped I became immersed in the story and the wonderful acting. This drama is well written well directed and you cannot help but become engrossed in the storyline. Xiao Qi is wonderful and A'Wa will make a super partner. I cannot wait for the next episodes and hope the stellar acting and story continues through to the end. Do watch it it may take you a couple of episodes to "get into" the characters but once your are there you will love it. 10 out of 10 for me so far.

Loving this drama the ML was in Go Princess Go and he can camp it up with the best. Fun to see the role reversal currently on ep 25.

Well we have had a wedding they are already married....... The witless bride insists the groom write some clap trap on their wedding night oh so romantic....... No I am dropping this rubbish just too annoying I can see the idiot bride will cause the ML problems . What a lazy way to write a drama instead of some interesting plot the writer will no doubt create a story around our airhead bride. No thank you enoughs enough...
