You will need a China VPN. Youku only has the China rights to this it will not be on their international YouTube channel. Huace/Croton has the international rights.

I mostly watch Chinese period dramas. If you are new to it then you should at least check out Eternal Love/Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. Love and Redemption and the Wolf are also intense and passionate. Both Maiden Holmes and Autumn Ballad are good light romances. If you like Dilraba The Long Ballad is good and if you are a Ren Jialun fan then One and Only or Under the Power but all three of these are light on the kiss scenes. I rarely watch modern romances but Mysterious Love was quite hot and heavy. If none of these hit your fancy I keep drama ranking lists by the year that can be accessed from my profile page. Unfortunately there are no official subs yet. Apparently kissasian has machine subs and there were a few episodes that were fan subbed on YouTube but they just got removed. Maybe you can put in a PP request to see if she will fan sub it.

I think she was somewhat drawn to him from the start although her overriding agenda was selfish. Her conscience starts kicking in pretty early on and she abandons the idea of domesticating him very quickly and instead work on their aligned goal of leaving the valley. I find it a lot more interesting that she is manipulative and can be duplicitous. Chang Yi is very innocent and sincere but his ideals are rather rigid. It is definitely going to cause friction later on.

Search YouTube there are 4 episodes subbed. It looks like it’s fan subbed, not official. Best watch quickly in case it gets shut down. I spot checked a few bits it looks fairly good.

Lol - it may be better for the drama if Youku didn't play an active role in the production process but the fact is we won't know the full extent of their involvement. Their team is believe it or not quite small, I have met many of them. Everyone who puts money into a movie or drama is a "producer" that can be in the credits but industry insiders will only refer to the company or person that actively worked on it as the producer. My friends regularly invest in productions for fun - the last script I helped them look at was a movie that had 8 "producers" including a bunch of bankers who just wrote checks. For privacy, they usually decline to have their names in the credits but platforms like Youku will always want attribution. It doesn't mean anything one way or another in terms of how much work they did.

I am sure Youku put up quite a bit of the money for this production but it was produced by Huace Film (and yes Croton is their international arm). It is very common for the platforms to outsource productions to independent production companies and to invest in promising projects by other studios and broadcasting rights are typically divided by region. In this case, it looks like Croton is doing the international. All of the platforms also have in-house capacity but a lot of it is used for variety shows. I think iQiyi invested the most in in-house capacity and Youku the least. They also co-invest in productions with each other but in this case it looks like Youku has exclusive rights among the platforms.

Well hopefully they bring it forward - I suspect they are just waiting on ad placement, Translation shouldn't take that long. I am trying to watch it slowly so that my friend who is waiting for subs can catch up.

This is not a Youku in-house production. It was produced by Huace Film and Croton. Youku only bought the Chinese rights. Don’t know the ins and outs of that decision but looks like Croton’s date is April 22.

It’s a bit of a mess but the short answer is Youku didn’t acquire the subtitle rights so you will just have to wait for Croton to do it.

Princess Shunde will make whoever tames the merman the leader of Wanhua Valley, pitting Yunhe against Guzhu’s son. The third condition is that the merman must be loyal to her (Shunde) and stay by her side. You can see how this will be tricky…

Lol that's cool - I know I represent the minority view that this just good not great.

It is well made and I consider 8.0 a good rating but it is also true that I may have watched way too many of these.
