The historical is definitely a sad ending. They pretty much tell you that upfront.

I am also only planning to watch the historical part - I will only watch the modern if their chemistry exceeds all expectations. I don't mind sad endings and I don't watch modern romances.

They are Jin Yong's three most interesting characters IMHO but Duan Yi is the one I like the least. Although he grows a lot, he is somewhat more tropey or less unique and Jin Yong waffled over how to write his ending and ended up with two versions.

First episode looks pretty good but I will struggle to watch this in Mandarin. Gonna wait to see if they dub this in Cantonese - Qiao Feng just sounds so sissy relative to Kiu Fung I just can't...

I doubt. The problem is other than Zhao Ge, ZZH does not have a string of big, expensive productions that are waiting to air. There is no big commercial interest that may be motivated to pull strings behind the scenes to get the ban lifted so they don't have to write off their investment. And wrt Zhao Ge, allegedly Yu Zheng himself has been sitting on that ever since ZZH left him so he has probably pretty much written it off already anyway.

No I haven't; I rarely watch modern dramas unless its a suspense/crime thriller. But he is a hottie I got both eyes peeled for him going forward...

I dropped this after about 20 episodes. It started really well and then it got draggy and there were way way way too many unrequited love tropes and Qi Fan was so pathetic I couldn't stomach it anymore. I am not even curious enough to find out how it ended.

He does a decent job overall, a bit rough in the beginning. But the main couple is no longer in huge focus later on and the spotlight moves to the FL and how she helps the other couples, who IMHO are a lot more interesting so I just low key ignore him.

Without taking away from how careless, insensitive and stupid ZZH was with this, it is also OLD news, like its been out there for years. Why is it coming to bite him like this now?
