To my knowledge, I don’t think that I ever watched a Chinese sequel that was well made. The almost exception…
Indeed NIF2 was great but still not NIF. If they do S2 fast for this one I think it'd be pretty great but once too much time passes it'd be hard. But like you I mostlyt roll my eyes at S2 suggestions for pretty much everything bc I just think its too hard.

Its the best Chinese drama I have seen but it is a politcal heavy bromance, not much romance. Its the Chinese…
Mine too! If you like Dumas you can also consider Secret of the Three Kingdoms it is like something he would have written.

The language is very beautiful and if you understand mandarin your appreciation level is higher because some of the metaphors and double meanings are impossible to translate. If you don't I believe the best subtitles are on Dramacool.

Title Royal Nirvana Spoiler
Yes but the love story is not as important as the father-son relationship.
According to Wiki it was set in Northern Qi state but the Xiao ruling family was actually Liang dynasty which both existed in similar time of Chinese history (around 550). I always suspected that the writer of Royal Nirvana tried to tell Prince Qi's story from Nirvana in Fire (which was set in Liang) - the story of a deposed Crown Prince who had a powerful military backer (Gu Silin in Royal Nirvana and Lin Xie in Nirvana in Fire) so powerful the emperor felt threatened by his son. I think the writer just changed some facts around the setting around to avoid copyright violation. Kind of wish the original Nirvana in Fire writer had written it instead, it would have been a much better though no less sad story.

This drama was great but don't know when season 2 will arrive....the drama has a proper ending, every question…
I wouldn't mind a season 2 but I also kind of like that they left things as they are - ignorance is bliss. That said I can imagine all kinds of wicked twists they could do if there were a season 2 so that would be ok too...

I know right? I can't help looking away when I see those horses topple I really hope it's not all for real.
Apparently they are trained to fall very slowly and shot in very slow motion that gets speeded up... according to my cousin who does freelance camera work on production crews. Makes me feel a bit better.

Sigh! I don't dislike the Youning that much the way she is written and I was fine with at least half the way but now I am getting really annoyed at her. I guess she is hungry and just tries too hard - same in the Legends I went from liking her to FF her.

I felt the same but in the end I couldn't get enough of him so I kept on going. Its so rare to see Chen Kun in a drama and in such a delicious role.

I was interested in this due to the spy genre and Ren Jialun was a happy bonus but I find I am really really falling for Liu Huan.

Does anyone know what language Aha/Duo’erla/Dora/the Ourat people are speaking? I can’t recognize it, but…
I believe its one of the Mongolian tribes. I think their language is also called Oirat. Couldn't tell you they are really speaking Oirat or just gibberish. It should be around Xinjiang today.

Avenuex's review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWKBmb81lSc
As usual very long winded and it seems she really loved it and binged it but rates it based on the fact that she doesn't think it will be popular in China! OMG - what kind of a reviewer is she then? She really needs to work out the kinks of her rating system because if you are going to rate something, have an opinion that should be independent of what everyone else thinks! Shaking my head.

My understanding is Lurk was the last truly great spy drama coming out of China and there really hasn't been anything to compare since then. Its still on my PTW - has anyone watched it? Am tempted to watch it alongside Autumn Cicada but all that intrigue may be too confusing...

This was a very devastating time in history. Definitely sad and tragic times!!!! The first two episodes has already…
Yeah I suspect there are going to be quite a few flashbacks bc they killed off a few main characters at the beginning. Hope they handle it in a way that is not confusing. I guess one of the main plot threads is going to be around uncovering who is the traitor that leaked the Autumn Cicada identity to begin with.
