Didn't happen in the book. And its too little too late. Made zero difference. It just made him an even bigger…
There are just too many characters and too many subplots.

Its kind of hard to imagine new evidence emerging 8 years after the main perpetrator Prince Qing died. And the groundwork for his "continuing investigation" was never properly laid. It was just added as an afterthought and another piece of lazy writing. I don't blame Langya wang for for YDZ going nuts he had noting to do with that.

We just have to agree to disagree but for me this story destroyed Langya wang's character. He supported an unworthy monarch to the throne and I didn't buy his reason for why YWJ must marry Ruojin. A better person would have just walked away or looked the other way when YDZ tried to steal the bride the first time. Even if he failed anyway, it was not a good thing to do. And he coerced her and stopped her from killing herself by capturing YDZ and promising to get him to safety. This part is even more obvious in the book. Both the drama and the book ruined Langya wang's character for me. After this, I am 100pct ok with what happened to him in TBOY.

You don't have to read the book. Ruofeng sat on the evidence he had it all along he just said he would clear YDZ's family "when the time is right". So the right time is 8 years after Prince Qing and Tai;an emperor is long dead and the one person it mattered to the most is also dead. They should have just left it as in the book and not bring it up again.

You have to understand China has been trying to rebrand wuxias for years. The original classics are books like Outlaws of the Marshes. They are all the underworld rebels who live by their own code and constantly rebel against government authority. China hates it bc it glorifies rebelling against authority. So all the so called wuxias that get made into dramas nowadays have them working for the government, being of royal descent and respecting authority. Its why Jin Yong's wuxias get remade way too often (bc he just avoided writing about the government and wrote mostly jianghu stories) but the original ancient classics like Water Margin/Outlaws of the Marshes has not been remade in decades. So its a sensitive genre where they don't like depicting the wulin heroes beating up governments they distort them into being tools of governmental authority. Its total BS but it can't be helped it is the way it is.

Sad that only after YDZ’s death did Prince Langya clear his father’s name. Had it been done before the point…

The monk who betrayed YDZ is wang resun the who brings toys and tells about BDJ to YDZ (as per TBOY) but DY they…
It was sad but I thought it was a bit overly dramatized. I am not a fan of long drawn out death scenes and I don't think everyone needed to be there as spectators. And especially not the eunuchs. Its why the narrative didn't match how TBOY begins. The novel ends with YDZ's death and how he died and where he was buried being widely speculated but with no one really knowing. So Wuxin seeking answers in TBOY makes sense.

Nah, in the novel no one could see exactly what happened to YDZ except YWJ and LQY. BDJ wasn't even there.

Yeah I knew the beating part would never pass censorship but I had hoped he would at least scold him. But I guess even that is too sensitive.

Yes you are right. Tang Lian was escorting the coffin to TWT. His introduction was so cool its hard to forget.

I think after reflecting on the ending the biggest disappointment for me was that we didn't really see BDJ turn around and side with YDZ and tell off the asshole emperor. I knew they wouldn't show him beating the daylights out of him but I at least expected him to tell him off for being such a jerk.

Yeah he did betray their friendship but since he couldn't really hurt him either I think Wuxin was just misinformed and decided to let him off lightly as a result.

I wonder if BLDJ didnt say those words to Wenjun at the end "Yun ge didnt blame you but I do" I wonder if she…
BDJ says it in the novel as well and he is a bit harsher. He told her she should have trusted YDZ. And she is not blackmailed to return to the palace. She chooses to I think partly bc she is ashamed and partly bc she has nowhere else to go. But YDZ expected her to go off with Luo Qingyang he asked him to take care of her going forward. But that she could not marry him bc she can only have one husband YDZ in this life.

BOY was a superior series and far more interesting. The present series is more a xianxia and uses too much CGI…
Yeah this has definitely strayed too far into xianxia realm but it was always a bit of a stretch to call it a wuxia anyway. Too much palace politics and the heroes work for the government. Ridiculous. That would never happen. I think Dark River may be more of a wuxia but I have my doubts there too. I think this writer is just too obsessed with immortal like powers, emperors and princes to ever write a proper wuxia.

He is Wang Rensun, the guy who moved in next door and YDZ invited to dinner. But they don't show much betrayal from him other than he was part of the posse waiting for him at the grass hut.
