Yups, I watched AGLM. He did look really good but his role was dominated by the FL and his acting was ok but obviously newbie. He seems to improve with each drama. BFTB was not a good role for him bc its a dark character which he didn't bring out well enough. the book fans especially panned it. I didn't think he did great either but I didn't read the book so I was fine with it. If you didn't read the book, its ok to watch.

She is supposed to look exactly like her sister except they have different eyes. The two actresses are both very pretty but they look nothing alike!🤱🏻

I honestly think they did it to make YWJ not look like the worst female character in the story.

Edit: She shows up mostly towards the end of the book. She is radical and misguided but not super annoying. She isn't the real villain or anyone near that.

Maybe just watch the Cheng Yi version when it comes out.

I have about 60 chapters left and she barely shows up. I think she is just a very pretty actress they want to show off so they gave her unnecessary screen time and that makes her annoying. I just ignore her I think she is being used by the schemers but isn’t ultimately that important.

Well this one is super sad. That’s why my friends say it’s unforgettable. It accurately depicts the extreme hardship China went through at the time and it resonated with people who lived through it. I think it’s on YouTube but idk if it’s subbed. I haven’t been in the mood for something like that so I just have it on my rainy day watch list .

I have to agree with @Baek... I found HMH's acting in BFTB to be better than in A Girl Like Me but it is not as good as it is in DY.

I decided to read the rest of the book bc its actually quite short - the bride snatching was already past the midpoint! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Quite sure I am gonna be done by tomorrow. There is nothing much left to happen, idk why we have so many episodes left in the drama.😅

Its an ensemble cast and story. Everyone is super critical to the team dynamic and brings their own strengths and weaknesses to the table. Xijun annoyed me in S1 and I thought the acting was also not great. But it is clear the actor has really grown into the role and the character has similarly grown to be a critical member of the team as you point out.

My mainland Chinese friends all talk about it whenever you mention spy thrillers. I mean to watch it at some point. I hear Cheng Yi signed up to shoot a remake.
