Yeah ZZH really stepped in a pile of mud. Yu Zheng is powerful and vindictive so when ZZH ditched YZ's agency and signed with Zhao Wei, YZ decided not to air the drama bc it would benefit Zhao Wei if it were a hit. It wouldn't have been easy to pass censorship either bc the whole story is about toppling of a regime so YZ probably decided its not worth it to use up his influence that way. But as you know the first of the three Creation of Gods movies has aired so censorship is not an issue that can't be overcome since Investiture of Gods is a Chinese folk literature classic that everyone knows and loves.
Then the nonsensical whole Japanese shrine scandal was clearly someone trying to do ZZH in permanently but I don't think he is exactly officially banned either. The real issue IMO is Zhao Wei and her husband are in deep shit for corruption scandal with the Zhejiang local government and Alibaba. They will never be able to come back and ZZH now has no agency and no one will back him again bc they are not sure whether his dramas will ever pass censorship. I think after the success of The Double, if Yu Zheng wants to he can still push Zhao Ge out and arguably he won't be benefitting Zhao Wei or ZZH bc at this point they are done. But who knows whether he will want to do it. It ultimately boils down to how much he backs WJY. In recent years he has clearly supported Bai Lu over WJY and at 33 she is kind of on her way to aging out anyway so I don't put high hopes on it.
