She is modelled on Wu Tzetian who was a concubine of Tang emperor Taizong and then married his son emperor Gaozong after he died. It was a huge scandal in history. Although the costumes in this drama look like Song dynasty, the pearls on the face was one of Wu Tzetian's signature styles.
