I think its fairly obvious Yang Minghua means to rebel. He has been conscripting immigrants, runs an illegal mine and is making weapons all day. His plans were long in the making. They are just trying to control the timing of his rebellion so they can react promptly. The finger rock was to tell him they know his plans to see whether he backs down or moves forward.

From what I can tell, Zichuan is a world with many regions with different races/clans that are fighting each other. Looks like their main enemy is the barbarian North Clan. It is ruled by a Zichuan family chieftain. Yang Minghua is the chief commander of the Zichuan family and he guards the capital city. Zichuan Xiu's shifu Ge Yingxing guards Yuanzhou, which is a critical province of Zichuan where Zichuan Xiu was exiled to. I gather there were once three "sworn brothers" kind of like Zichuan Xiu, Yilin and Dilin in the past - Zichuan Yuanxing, Ge Yingxing and Yang Minghua that were loyal to each other. Yingxing and Minghua were protectors of the Zichuan family/Chief Yuanxing, their sworn brother. When Yuanxing died and Canxing took over, Yang Minghua decided he can rebel and seize power. Yang Minghua targets Zichuan Xiu bc he is allied with Ge Yingxing who remains loyal to the family and because he is a foster son. Possibly also bc he is the remaining heir of the last ruling Lin family. I guess Si Yilin is the chief's personal guard or something and thus lives with him. I think everyone long ago figured out Yang Minghua is planning to rebel and have moved their chess pieces around him, which is why Di Lin is just another spy that is ostensibly on his side.

I think there is no real FL in this show so you can just FF her or zone out her scenes. Its just there to pass censorship, this is really a bromance and you know how paranoid they are over anything close to a BL kind of genre.
