Review Faithful
Is the plot logic still solid, despite not necessarily delivering a satisfying treatment of the topic?
It mostly holds together. Would have been better to skip the villain origin story.

Title Tiger and Crane Spoiler
Yes I suspect that he is. I suspect the Qi tribe somehow absorbed part of the demon emperor's primordial spirit…
Yeah I think the Qi family know their own secret but maybe QXX doesn't.

That's what she threatened grandma with revealing if she was exposed so I think they are definitely part demon.

Couldn't agree more.

Lost in the Stars Ni Ni's latest movie is now on Netflix. And she is in at least 1-2 movies a year pretty much every year outside of the time she took to shoot the 70 episode Rise of Phoenixes.

What hurts the drama most I think is the terrible airing schedule. Many of us don’t watch just one drama and…
Yeah I had the same problem. I am really curious to see what people who watch it after airing think of it.

Look at me now. I dropped this drama at ep 11 and yet I watched episode 14 to see evil ZLH. He is so freaking…
I also like Yan/evil ZLH a lot better than Qian/ice cube,

Yes it seems better in later episodes and I actually like Yan a lot more than Qian. I actually hope he is the one that survives.

These are all of course opinions and our own impressions so I am not sure why you take it as a general statement. Your point that friendships have been established more quickly in many other dramas is definitely the case.. So why in this drama are people commenting it’s too fast???. Maybe there is a chemistry issue which is my impression. That’s all. Is that called a general statement? Don’t think so.

Lucky you - I would enjoy this a lot more if I did too but 14 episodes in I still see nothing.

So when Yan takes over, does that mean Qian is now imprisoned or just away somewhere? Explain how that worked?…
Qian's spirit is locked in the mirror realm.

Is QXX a part demon or something guys? Why is he the "Crane" ? Does he have a relation to the demon emperor?
Yes I suspect that he is. I suspect the Qi tribe somehow absorbed part of the demon emperor's primordial spirit in the war 500 years ago and tried to use it to enhance their own power.

No worries. I just think when you watch this genre you have to bear in mind that Chinese mythology is based on polytheism. So just like the gods or deities are flawed or do bad things, the spirits/demons/ghosts are not all bad either. Just think of them as two races or species that oppose one another. Among both sides there are good beings and bad beings. Yao/demons that are misunderstood as evil is a common theme in this genre.

The simple answer is the Chinese supernatural universe is a lot bigger and more complex than the Western one so in translation they get dumbed down into demons, spirits or ghosts. If you look up spirits in a Chinese English dictionary you get 鬼神/Guǐshén or 灵魂 / Línghún. No proper translator will use spirit as a first choice to translate 妖/yáo bc in the context of this drama they would have to use evil spirit. Don't forget that the humans in this drama presume all yao are evil and the original Chinese word itself definitely carries with it a connotation of evil. Demon may not be the perfect choice but it is the best among all other options.

I think you have seen the best parts. And yeah they did nothing much with her medical skills other than to keep him alive, which I guess is pretty important.

If you scroll down you will see that someone explained that in chinese mythology demons are not only bad. That’s…
Those Western dictionaries just have to expand the definition of the English word to be inclusive of non Western Christian traditions. If English is to stay relevant as a language that has to happen over time and it is a language that has adopted concepts from Latin, Greek etc over the centuries. Some radical Westerners talk about making written Chinese characters obsolete without understanding that due to its poverty and closed mindedness English can’t handle it.

this should be translated into angels or Fairies😺it'd be more intelligible😇🧚angels can be good or bad…
It is only in monotheistic (ie Christianity and most Western religion) that demons are considered evil. In many Eastern polytheistic religions that pre-date Christianity they can be good or bad. It is just most people’s understanding of the word is limited to the Western world view. Readers of Eastern mythology and religion understand that in the context of Chinese (and Hindu) texts it doesn’t imply they are evil. The translation is fine the word just has to be viewed in context. As someone else has pointed out even in official translations of classics like Journey to the West that is how it is translated. If you think about it in the context this drama world the Yao are considered evil by the Yao shi or demon hunters whose job is to eliminate them.
