That said, if she dies, I much prefer the book death. I think it's ok to kill off characters if their death was worthwhile. But if they die for no good reason I am just like - what - you are just trying to manipulate my emotions!!!

I love a good villain but LZS just is not it, as much as I like Liu Xueyi's acting. His enemies make such shit decisions they may as well roll over and kill themselves.
As for waltzing in and out of palaces, Unchained Love was like that too - the harem no less had non eunuchs walking in and out like it was a brothel. Geez. Well he was never raised with the expectation that he would one day be emperor. To suddenly have that put on him is kind of a tall order. But Fan Xuan himself is a dumb dumb - he knew LZS was a snake but he makes him Grand Tutor of all things. Give him some kind of BS official role and keep him the hell away from the CP. I blame him mostly for being such a terrible decision maker. Ye Shian or Gu Jiusi were the obvious choices for Grand Tutor. But what he really should have done was send him to work on the river with Gu Jiusi and gain merit alongside him. LZS doesn't even need to be a good villan when they play right into his hands like this.

I agree, it made no sense. I am willing to suspend disbelief up to a point but there has been just too much of this kind of stuff. The good guys in this drama seem to have great obstacles every step of the way but the villains have superpowers that let them walk trhough walls it seems. They never followed through with their threat to expose LZSfor his role in the Yangzhou revolt. With a snake like him you need to kill him dead. Its like these people never learn, they don't deserve to win.

Happened to me - I had the most uncomfortable lunch sitting next to a guy who I didn't remember at all but who obviouly remembered me. Turns out we were colleagues ten years ago. Oops.

That would be a good ironic twist that I am quite sure these writers will not think of.
