iQiyi's user base tends to be older, working people that are willing to pay more for their subscription. They tend to get more annoyed by this kind of stuff and usually don't mind waiting anyway bc they are busy with work etc. Tencent has lots of teenaged subscribers who have more time and want instant gratification.

iQiyi just released The Lost 11th Floor. Its a suspense thriller based on an excellent novel. First two episodes look amazing. Otherwise, we are just in xianxia hell with the two currently airing ones getting terrible reviews and another Mr Heavenly Fox dropping today.

Yeah this was the biggest plot hole for me. I would have thought the empress quid pro quo for supporting Fang Xian would have been in order to secure her daughter’s marriage to either Fan Xian or Fan Yu and that their issue should succeed him as emperor. How stupid does she have to be to not demand this obvious thing????

No NLB is a parody about women in feudal society, with some romance thrown in but it's not the main focus. This starts out a bit like a romantic comedy but the tone gets darker and the story becomes more political as it goes along. The two leads are the main focus throughout. To me, they are quite different.

He can send her and her daughter to the cold palace and order her to stay there. Her old supporters will have a much harder time accessing her there and the mother and daughter can't run around causing trouble at every turn.

I believe it Jiang He and LZS's mom was a Romeo and Juliet trope. He discovered that LZS's family killed his brother so he couldn't marry her/ditched her.

Beyond their pettiness and sloppiness, their actions make no sense and would not lead to the outcomes they are after. Yes there is what I call the argument from stupid - i.e., they are stupid people. Which they are. But we the audience do not need to watch dramas about stupid people plotting when we can watch dramas about smart people plotting.

I don't disagree with that and there are still ministers loyal to her husband's reign. Nonetheless there should be limits to what the new emperor is willing to compromise/tolerate from her. She practically walked all over him. I just think all those interactions were just ridiculous. There is one very bad script writer on this team and I recognise that idiots fingerprints all over this arc.

I don’t think the empress is that powerful anymore. She has no living sons. Fang Xuan is just trying to live up to his promise to her. It’s honorable of him but that should not come at the cost of her interference in the court and it should not be a license to kill either. I find it completely ridiculous even the idea the princess can interfere like that in judicial proceedings. The writing has gone off the rails.
