Yeah so this is a fictional dynasty but it looks like it was modelled on Tang Dynasty. And Wu Zetian was the first and only female emperor of China - she basically seized the throne from her son. The only other powerful Chinese regent was Empress Liu of Song Dynasty but the costumes here don't look Song.

Lol... yes the emperor... its just so weird he stands while the Dowager sits and behaves like he is her subject so I keep thinking he has not yet come of age. I wonder if she is supposed to be Wu Zetian. I keep thinking maybe she wasn't wiping out the entire village, maybe she really just meant to kill either Zhang Ping and/or his mom or Minister Lan. The only reason to do that is if one of them is a threat to her. Can't be the Lan family bc Lan Jue would also be toast. So must be Zhang Ping... Only reason is if the previous emperor is his father. Maybe that is why he and the emperor seem to have a strange bond.

Technically the platforms can crackdown on all these sites. They just don't bc its costly to do so. And servers are expensive so these sites have limited server capacity anyway. People who can pay and want to watch without ads or buffering delays on high definition from their big screen TVs don't use those sites anyway. And if the non-paying users use other sites, its actually better for the platforms bc their own servers don't get over burdened by non-VIP subscribers. I am happy to pay for content bc I can but there was I time in my life when I couldn't and didn't. I think its all good so no need to over think it. Just watch where is most convenient and works best for you. Wherever you watch it, you are "paying" for it via the ads so it doesn't really matter.

SWL's line delivery needs a bit of work but he is perfectly understandable so if that is her beef with him, her Mandarin must not be that good. I don't read subtitles, not even the Chinese ones and I have zero problem understanding him. She is just trying to impress Western audiences how pefect her Mandarin is. But most people who interact with Mandarin speakers on a daily basis knows that very few people have a "clean" Standard Mandarin accent and we still have no problem understanding each other. Hers IS pretty good but its not perfect either no matter what she dares to claim.

You can go back and watch her August 2021 episode where she exposes the shrine incident, which is her most "balanced" post on the incident. She also posted on multiple Chinese sites saying terrible (much worse) things about him being a traitor etc. All the while she was still making WOH videos and making money off of him. Other Chinese speakers called her out on it - she got a rude shock that there are actually so many fluent Chinese speakers out there! She removed her Youtube video for awhile and when she re-posted it all those comments disappeared. A lot of users have screenshot her posts etc with translations on Twitter and other sites etc. There are also many posts clarifying everything even on this site under ZZH's profile. She never apologized or retracted her statements after the truth was revealed. I boycotted her after that in disgust but its an easy thing for me to do bc she only regurgitates Chinese bloggers views that I can read on my own so I don't need her.
