I actually liked the story and ordered the book. I just can't watch dramas where they have a pre-pubescent sounding girl in an adult romance. It just bothered me too much I had to drop it.

Even in the writer's original work, the women in the prequel are not in the sequel. The movie sequel has some different/new characters and has changed the original story quite a bit but it is still about the flying fox. I won't say more bc I don't want to spoil you. If you don't know the original story then maybe you should watch a different version of the sequel first, one that doesn't change it so much.

Agree completely that it lost the heart of Jin Yong's original but I still found it innovative and interesting. After all, there is only so many times I can watch another faithful to the original remake of the story.

Yups - Tencent Video has around 500mm subscribers but only 120mm are VIP (paying). The rest watch ads and wait to watch, Tencent makes money from the ads. So the promotions, variety shows etc can keep going for a long time more.
