Title Hidden Edge
No wonder this guy is broke - he spends too much time doing anything but driving a cab.
The broad outline is a bit like Day Breaker - taxi driver with memory loss, a hidden identity and a kid... deja vu...

Out of curiosity. ..what drama got the highest douban rating?is it even possible that you get a 9 plus score in…
Well NIF is what made Wu Lei famous but it true that it is a sad story. I find the best reviews on Douban. I find there’s is more of that behavior on MDL than on Douban.

Don't know what the highest is but I think Nirvana in Fire (9.4) must be close to the top. Other 9+ that I know of are Awakening Age (9.3) and Minning Town (9.2).
I think 7.4 is very good for this genre - Minglan is only ~7.8, The Untamed 7.7 and Joy of Life is 7.9.

Yeah I believe its true that LLTG has not attracted the big bucks from advertisers. Unemployment among age 16-24…
That is true but that is why half their dramas are bought from studios and not done in-house and they bring in co-investors to reduce that risk. But unless they can at least break even on production costs they usually wait bc there are also significant promotion costs once they go ahead.

If LLTG does very well and Tencent can prove that the viewing demographic includes audience with spending power, they can still attract ads as it goes along. It is airing for a long time (until August), there is time for it to improve from here.

It is a story about a teenage (15 year old) girl, her conflict with her mother and how she chooses a husband. The themes are very adolescent/young adult ones. Nothing wrong with that but advertisers are not going to over analyse it - they would just expect the target audience to be primarily young adults and that is how Tencent has positioned it anyway. Even if you look at the viewing age group in MDL stats, it is obvious that this is a young adult themed drama. ADOS was a huge hit with advertisers bc it attracted a much broader and older viewing base who have the spending power advertisers are looking for in this kind of economy. It has no reflection on which is a better drama or has bigger stars. Even certain very hot idols with huge fan bases who are considered "bigger stars" than Lusi and Wu Lei have coming dramas that are having a very very difficult time attracting ads in this environment. This is summer holidays already. Normally all 3 platforms will have multiple dramas airing at the same time bc it is high season for young adult dramas. But there is really very little to watch at the moment - both Youku and iQiyi keep delaying their launches. The Japanese costume thing is just an excuse, they are dropping xianxias, there is no such thing as historically authentic xianxia costumes.

Its just bad timing but I think they will get good views and publicity from this. Its just not gonna be a huge money maker for Tencent the way ADOS was. But they already got paid anyway and I don't think it will stop them getting good projects in the future.

Just found this on twitterhttps://mobile.twitter.com/nosalt0000/status/1548116199489167362
Yeah I believe its true that LLTG has not attracted the big bucks from advertisers. Unemployment among age 16-24 in China is currently at 20pct! Yes there are 10mm graduates this year that can't get jobs. They have no spending power so advertisers are not keen to invest in titles targeting this age group. It is not just Wu Lei and Lusi, all the idol actors with large and young fan bases will have this issue this year. That is why drama launches have been slow and some big and highly anticipated summer titles will probably be pushed to next year unless things recover quickly.

My sentiments exactly. YS and his masters’ heads have been knocked silly by books.
He is trying to turn CSS into Yang2. Bc he is superficial like his master and he likes the way CSS looks but she is not erudite enough for him.

watching them being petty and sardonic is so hilarious, yuan shen smile was litterally evil 😂 the way they…
I actually think LBY should just stay away and let those two show her what idiots they are. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and familiarity breeds contempt.

Ok I thought it was impossible to top LBY's "You have already seen me nekkid" terrible courtship strategy but this Yuan Shen really takes it to another level with his "hatefully ever after" love stories. This dude is definitely never getting married.
