So I'm waiting for this drama to be fully subbed first (whether from official platform or fan sub) before watching…
Youku, Tencent, iQiyi are all distribution companies very similar to Netflix, AppleTV and Disney. They face subscribers directly but have limited in-house production capability. This is especially true for Youku. All of them buy most of their content from production studios who make the dramas and own the IP in perpetuity. Studios license broadcast rights for 6-8 years to the distribution companies by geography and the distribution companies are the ones to promote it and make money from subscription fees, advertising etc. Those studios in China are Huace/Croton Media, Wanda Pictures, Shanghai Media etc etc etc. They are like Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers, Colombia Pictures etc.

The landscape in China has been changing. Since Chinese content is gaining popularity overseas, studios figured out they can get real money for the overseas rights. So in the past it cost Youku virtually nothing to buy both the overseas and China rights but now it costs money. Huace/Croton has become aggressive in wanting payment for overseas rights. Maybe they asked for more than Youku wanted to pay or maybe they chose to see if Netflix/Disney/AppleTV/Amazon would pay more. The studio for Anle is China Media or Shanghai Media and Immortal Samsara is by Wanda Pictures. They will all have different strategy for how they sell the rights. So don't worry yet. The gossip about TBW is the initial feedback was bad, esp the CGI and muscle suit. That is why Huace/Croton has not had much success selling the international rights. All they got are local TV stations who don't pay much. With the drama's success in China, they may have better luck with it later on.

Tencent and iQiyi are more willing to buy overseas rights, especially for Asia bc they are both trying to grow subscribers there. They also have more in-house production studios and make a bigger portion of the content in-house. It costs them nothing to air it on their overseas platforms. For example WRTW is made by Tencent Penguin Pictures so of course it is on Tencent Video. If Youku wanted to put TBW on its Youtube platform they had to buy the rights and Youku is less interested. With only 70mm subscribers they are far behind in China and probably losing the most money there. Their first priority to to make more money in China first. Their in-house studio is basically just Alibaba Pictures which is focused on movies and not dramas. I can't even think of a single drama Youku made in-house.

You can have your preference but I also don't think you have to compare one to the other. I am also watching WRTW…
Dilraba’s Changge in TLB cannot fight and is revenge driven. Lusi β€˜s in WRTW is a super competitive fighter who wanders the martial world. They seem pretty different to me.

Mi Chong:
Wow that was amazing. That "I knew it" look of satisfaction on his face even though he knew he was a dead man And the reluctant you are a worthy opponent you win. And Chen Gong's also unspoken answering words.... Such good acting.

I think the picture quality is nicer on Netflix but it is 6 episodes behind Tencent in my region. πŸ™
Indeed... I am at 18 already but if I get busy and end up falling behind I will watch on Netflix.

You need to put this under a discussion post so as not to get buried under the comments. This is a gold thread…
🀣🀣🀣 I am just being cheeky and goofing around with this. The discussion posts seem to be more useful things like book links and to explain background etc... But I will drop it to the bottom of my review at the end as suggested by @Enigma and @insideout91.

I think her plan was similar but stopped short of getting the girl killed. Maybe just discredit Lanxi and force him to marry the girl instead.
