What I have always remembered of GMP, is the Princess' final speech, which I felt was as impactful as Aragon's final speech in LOTR Return of the King. That was the apex of drama endings. The FL's scene performance was excellent. I haven't seen any endings of that caliber and scope.
I am numb from watching the final five episodes. MJH's grieving of Princess Heir (Mei Lin) took too long on screen. Was it three days only? It felt like a week. She had risen from the dead on the seventh day. After she changed her identity to Miss Hua, Governor pined away, almost stalking her. Snap out of it, Boy! She is alive!
The invasion of Qingzhou was draggy. I would not call it a war, but a fracas. I missed the scene, but did Xiyan General kill Xiyan Emperor? Lou Mei lead a midnight raid on Xiyan General's camp, but her assault team died and she lost an eye. I feel sorry for the conscripted soldiers whose lives are sacrificed in seconds in these wars, while the elite leaders survive. General Qingyan was my favorite, but they killed him off. The best part of the fracas was when Jing He lanced the Xiyan General. Why did it take so long?
I began to feel sorry for old Emperor Murong and his very young concubine. Their moments of happiness were brief. Writer could have let Zigu and her baby live. Their child could have grown up to become Emperor when Jing He abdicated. Jing He and Mei Lin's wedding was pretty. Writer and Director should have ended it there, and wrapped up with a voice over narration. This comment is reading like a review, but I don't recall the details of drama, to substantiate writing a review.
I loved watching Lui Xue Yi. He showed a wide acting range. The depression and crying could have been downplayed. I loved watching Wu Jing Yan in this drama. We might not see her for a few years due to family obligations.
Yue Qin's Mr-Steal-Your-Girl arc is very petty in comparison to the whole throne battle that just happened, so…
I think Yue Qin needs to get slapped around, but he took away Mei Lin's martial arts on purpose. That shows he wants to shackle her to him. I hope Jing He beats him up.
On Marcus tonight, Liu Xue Yi could not reveal whether there was a happy ending but he said, "Well, I was hoping…
I saw a clip of an interview. She asked him if it was a sad or happy ending. He looked to the side off screen, and made a gesture for the camera. Not very convincing!
Thankful for my Mandarin skills, no matter not advanced lolBasically he's blaming himself for causing her death:…
Yue Qin got a bit unhinged with the flower and the bloodletting. I thought he was going to kill Jia next. Now it is Jing He's turn, when he hears that Mei Lin died. Xuan Lie must be glad that he got out early. He was a trendsetter. 🤣🤣🤣
1 When Lou Mei slapped Xuan Lie four or five times.
2 When Jing He beat up Yue Qin.
3 When Jing He lanced (speared) Xiyan General.
