Empress Yi Xiang could potentially go off the deep end like her father, and invade Jinxiu for revenge. I wonder what Sui Ge or Yi Xiao would do in that situation.

The dysfunctional families in the Susha and Jinxui imperial palaces stood out. Megalomania, paranoia, psychosis, amnesia, conspiracy, revenge, delulu, backstabbing, surviving falls of a cliff, voodoo medicine crammed into thirty-eight episodes.

Did you notice that the actresses playing Empress Zhuang and JIng are in the mid-30s? The actors playin Feng Cheng Yang and Xia Jing Ya are in the late 20s and early 30s. 🤣🤣🤣 The actresses were the right age for their empress roles but the actors were a lot older than their characters. Xia Jing Yan is 20, and Feng Cheng Yang should be 16ish. Nonetheless, they were convincing as mother and son.

I was thinking the same thing. Out of the blue, they decided they wanted their freedom. I see the need for secrecy because of fear that Susha Emperor would them out one day, but to be cooped up for a decade after the Empress' death was extreme. Elder Lei Lei was paranoid, and other two elders just went along with it.
