if you are seeking for romance drama, than this is not for you, this drama can be considered uncommon for nowadays…
π tag officer? that'd be something.
I mean I do understand the frustration and confusion. You want to watch feel good romance. When you see the tag "romance" you'd expect romance. It's natural. But then you don't see romance and you'd feel disappointed. It makes sense.
I think a lot use tag to search for their favorite genre. I do, too. I use tag to find wuxia dramas, because I often can't tell by the title alone. Since I'm not Chinese and can't read and speak Chinese, I depend on the tag to give me clues as to what I can expect. And more often than not, I feel disappointed and cheated. I get frustrated when they mix wuxia with romance or xianxia. Usually the wuxia element is given very little portion.
I wish they gave proper tags. It would save many from frustration and confusion. I also feel that giving a proper tag could affect the rating of a drama.

It's a wuxia. It's not a romance. There's a romance but it's not the focus so it's safe to say that this is not a romance drama. I have no idea why the tag is romance.
The rating here keeps dropping. It started at 8.5 then 8.0 and now 7.9 Yikes!
IMHO it's because of the tag. The drama's tags are romance and wuxia. People expect more romance like wrtw. But it's not. They should have just tagged it wuxia so people who just want romance would just skip it.
Remembering two laws.Law of Cartoon- As long as character doesn't look down, gravity won't work.Law of C-Drama…
I think it's not exclusive C-drama. In fantasy genre it seems a common thing where a hero falls from a cliff and doesn't die, instead he gains some sort of powerful magic or skill even in Western fantasy stories. Remember Gandalf who doesn't die after fighting Balrog and falls from cliff. Or Aragorn who also falls from cliff and doesn't die.
Is 6.9 considered good? I remember some shows were rated highly on MDL but in the 5s on Douban. ADOS is still…
I only watch wuxia dramas. The dramas that I like happen to be rated high on douban with the exception of few such as Handsome Siblings 2020 and Heroes 2020 (with Vincent Zhao).

The reason why WRTW and SSS got 5.8, I think, has to do with the marketing. Both were marketed as a wuxia drama. But both are not actually wuxia, which made hard core wuxia fan feel cheated. WRTW is actually romance and SSS is political. I happen to be one of those who dropped both WRTW and SSS. I dropped WRTW after 8 episodes and SSS after just 1 episode. I dropped WRTW because it focused too much on romance, and I dropped SSS because the fight scenes were horrible. I suppose the reason why Heroes' rating is higher than WRTW and SSS simply because wuxia fan feel that it is the REAL wuxia. The focus is not romance and the fight scenes (though not that good) are still better than WRTW and SSS. Just my two cents.
Wow ! Expect for boring Xiao Long Nu and kinda Mu NianCi, Jin Yong Female characters are very interesting
I do wish it, too. It takes her a long tome to realize that Yang Kang is just irreparable. Well, her heart is divided between her love for Yang Kang and her allegiance to her country. It's a conundrum. But in the end she makes a choice.
Does the ml get powerful? Strong ?planning to watch this but itβs good if the lead isnβt weak whole drama
IMHO most wuxia stories belong to plot driven type. Characters develop as the story progresses. It may look slow but they do develop. You can't expect perfect lead in wuxia. They don't treat leads in wuxia like superhero. The leads are imperfect because they're just human beings who make mistakes.

That's sarcastic tone ππ. I agree Xiao Long Nu and Mu NianCi are kind of boring. But there are other more interesting such as Huang Rong, Ren Ying Ying, and Mei Chaofeng. Jin Yong created diverse female characters. After all a writer must create characters who are opposed to each other in order to highlight each character. Foil characters are created to enhance the story. I don't think Huang Rong would be interesting if Mu NianCi was just interesting.
I have questions for all of us please try to answer in the context of Chinese culture.1) X and Y are in relationship…
Humans are after all emotional being who mostly make decisions based on emotions. Humans use logic to justify their actions. In this context, it's the jianghu context. LC believes this is what she's supposed to do.
I believe this is particularly true of this writer but Jin Yong wrote great female characters they are far more…
One wuxia drama that is not so old which coincidentally has the same title as this one has a very strong female character even though she doesn't know martial arts. The drama was released in 2020, so not that old π

As @PeachBlossomGoddess mentioned, Jin Yong wrote great wuxia so you can start with Legend of The Condor Heroes, Return of The Condor Heroes, Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, Smiling Proud Wanderer to name a few.
Oh they are much much better than that and less dependent on CGI but of course still not as good as some of the…
According to AveueX (I often watch her review on Youtube. I seem to have the same taste when it comes to wuxia), WRTW is a romance and not a real wuxia. And I agree with her.
Not bad but not stellar either. It's certainly better that recent wuxia dramas. But there's no specific styles,…
I still remember some of the OSTs of wuxia in the 80's even after 30 years. But I can't remember the recent OSTs. The only Mandarin OST I remember is "Laughing in The Wind".
