I don't want to disappoint you, Maria, but he was not the only one who could protect Dafeng. There are many people there, people with a great history (Yunlu Academy), huge magical power (The Bureau), the need to defend the people (some of the ministers). Lord Wei did his part in initiating and protecting XQA more like a father would do and this will not be forgotten.

Lord Wei can also be brought back to life by the equivalent exchange with man in black or by the life pill with the Bureau. Who is the real good and who is the real evil between the man in black and the Supervisor, we'll find out next season. These are the 2 main players in the big game of power. And XQA is in the middle, the key to win it all.

lol. He is a super funny character but a complete immature one. He is under the Supervisor and part of the Astronomical Bureau. He is jealous and a meanie and very full of himself. That spinoff might just be for the viewers to finally see his face or for us to get some interesting new info. We'll see.

exactly. they all feel something/someone is missing. His presence was soooo strong that it actually left a big whole for them. Usually people forget, they go on. But here, they always stop to think, to try to make sense, to try to remember what is lost, what is missing. This is just amazing !

this will go to the next step of the game. Supervisor always kept XQA close. Now it's the man in black turn to get XQA close to him. XQA is the prize. The battle is between the Supervisor and the man in black. Who is the good one and who is the evil one ? That's where season 2 will take us. But man in black has an advantage. He is XQA's father and he just played this card. In the end it will be a battle like good vs evil but at a very very high level.

I don't think Lord Commander is a hater. She is just very upset it's over and this is the way she shows her sadness. Her reactions are different in the face of loss. I've read her comments. I bet she is super sad now, maybe even crying a bit.

I agree and disagree here. I understand having the satisfaction but the drama, although full of laugher at almost every step, actually touched so many sensitive subjects of life. A fairytale was not the good choice of such a work of cinematography, in my opinion. Satisfying yes, but not how things actually work in life. Life is a battlefield and we all play out our chips as well as we can. This is just a very advanced game of power. I wanted to see the king die in pain ? Heck yeah ! Does it matter ? Not even a bit. There are bigger things at stake which will be known in season 2.
