Straight fior Phd and what a throughly interesting subject. I'm actually taking a similar route, itls just that my studies do not requiore a Ba, Iam going straifht for Ma and then PhD hopoefully. Sounds like you have good relationship with your supervisor- this is quite essential. And yes, no pain, no gain as they say, but it;s a labour of love and passion..but for me it;s also a matter of survival.

I did not like the Keira Kngithley version of pride and prejudice at all. It was lacking in all sorts of ways and the American ending, the extra one..urgh. What was that supposed to be? I mean Keira was pretty compelling but I just didn't feel that version, though I tried to like it and you're right, it was too much.

Yes, Jane Austen is written off as a purely romance writer- I do put half of the blame on thiose adaptations which mostly bring out the romance. But I did like Emma with Ramola Garai, I found her to be a very good Emma. I also liked Northanger Abbey with J.J Felid and Felicty Jones, since it did try to bring out some of the parody aspect; also I have a weakness for Alan Rickman so 1995 Sense and Sensibility. There was a bbc miniseries in 2008 with David Morrisey bit it was pure entertainment. Rickam is far better at conveying Col Brandon, though Morrisey is a compelling actor, whom I also like, but I have no doubts in my mind thatrt Rickman;s brandom (I love Col Brandon myself!) was well captured. Also, the 1995 version of persuasion with Ciaran Hinds, a bit ioverstudied but she was an excellent Ann. Hinds can be too artificial at times feel but then i don;t kbow persuasion so well.

Happy New Year! Well I didn't like Flower Boy Ramyun; it;s too cutesy and reminded me too much of My griflriend Gumiho or Muyn Wol in the very same way I found both of those unwatchable; it;s just not my game but I'm glad you liked it :-) hehe I'll give your Thai recommendation a try for sure. Agasi, have a wodnerful new year, filled with fantasticly pleasant things, surprises, discoveries...!

Happy new year. SAkemi, historical dramas are quite interesting. And princess man is a definite watch even if you're not into historical dramas (sorry I couldn;t help but notice your comment on dramajunkie;s profile). I loved Princess Man myself so I fully support what she's telling you; do go watch it - and hopefully enjpoy it (it;s also not so long for a period piece) and have a wonderful year, not only successful but also full of dramas! ^^ Wouldnlt say dramas aren;t popular, they are just in some circles- the circles that are particulary interested in Japan or Korea. They are quite niche, thoughm I'll admit.

I'm sorry to hear it. I don't particularly large gatherings myself especially when we go to my godmother's- I never feel comfortable there since we're not very close and she is not really a part of our family just a friend my parents picked. When we do go for the obligatory birthday it's so tedious and especially with their big and strange family :sigh: I hope your father's birthday went by okay. I hope you get to relax bit. You're qute right, hospital is no fun and doctors will just keep saying the same thing; after a whole it gets tedious to visit them. You seem to be working too much, if it's getting to this point. I hope you get a lot of peace and decent rest as soon as you can. Don't particularly like the Coffee prince actor you have in your avi but I was meaning to say the pic is lovely, so relaxed, looks a bit like a cat :-) Do take care, AS.

I am preparing to but we'll see how that goes. I hope you will be able to achieve what you;re after, opening a private practice is difficult (my sister in law tried it once) but I think rewarding. Yes, she was a brilliant writer and I am very appreciative of how she wrote not so much about the workings of relationshis but the society! Her books have now gone rusty a bit. I did like most of them a lot, emma, pride and prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Northanger Abbey, oh i so loved how she parodied the gothic genre! Do you have any favourite adaptations?
My thesis focuses on Joseph Conrad and his sea works, though it;s difficult to write about him, he's a bit difficult in the sense that his writing is not comfortable- probably because he was a Pole and he learned English very late in his life and tried to be very deliberate about phrasing
