Time restrains maybe? It's the only thing I can think of. Weird cut, since SY sentence later on doesn't make sense without this deleted scene (you either have to have read the book or seen this deleted scene to fully understand it). I think the editors made a mistake here.

Probably because with this particular scene another later scene makes much more sense. The part where SY tells MYC about XQ laughter "just now". In the episode that aired, XQ didn't laugh in this part. I checked that part several times. I knew it was in the book, but it's really not in the episode. If they hadn't cut this particular scene, that later sentence would have been logical. Now it came pretty much out of the blue.

In essence they didn't change the reason, but they created a worse incident instead. XQ is angry because SY lied to her about not going to a scene, which he did. As long as he hadn't fully recovered yet, he wouldn't go to dangerous scenes. In the book he also went to a dangerous scene, but his injuries were far less severe.

I guess it's a cultural thing. Here in Europe in the monarchies it was pretty common a few centuries ago to marry cousins, etc. Nowadays marrying your blood family is... unusual to say at the least, if not frowned upon or negatively seen.
Adopted brothers/sisters marrying each other is something I don't see harm in. They're adopted, they don't have a biological relationship (unless of course it's kids from the same family being adopted, but that would be a whole different ball game).
This has nothing to do with incest or improper relationships. But.... I live in a Western culture, which in a lot of aspects is quite different to the Chinese culture.

I think it is because the FL's mother think XQ should have a certain lifestyle, a lifestyle which apparently she can't afford even with her own current salary, let alone a firefighter.
But what a mother thinks a daughter should have for a lifestyle for the mothers image (because that is what's going on, I think), is not necessarily the same as what the daughter thinks and feels. Like you said, the FL isn't a high maintenance person at all.
I feel it's all because the mother wants to keep up appearance, sorta speak.

If they do it like in the book, she won't read that letter. Instead his old army comrade will be the one to spill the story, IIRC. THEN she will confront her parents.

I am looking forward to seeing that part. I can imagine it will be a powerful scene.
