can someone explain the last part of ep3....where they talk abt jin woo
Basically he's so broken that he's cutting himself and has done it for a good while, years even. And maybe he even tried to kill himself at some point (you've seen those lines across his wrist.)
I know movies and dramas gloss over suicidal ideation (they're "easily" fixed in dramaland), but people so depressed they're considering and even trying to commit suicide aren't going to be 1. very energetic/aggressive enough to make it in their chosen field, usually and 2. well-motivated to do well (because depression is taking all their energy and whatever's left is just enough to struggle by). So that's their "problem" right now - their ticket to the success of the new agency will have to deal with the depression and cure it if they want to win the contest (and get the son's factory money that she's obsessing over).
Don't mind it though, I bet they'll "fix" him soon enough, most dramas don't even try to touch on actual treatment (not even psychiatric, not to mention a psychologist), because treatment with some actual results takes a whole lot of time... and some never work properly anyway.
Pure misery porn... And he'll never get any meaningful therapy (because where could it fit in 12 eps when he has…
The way she's letting off her guilt through something her son wanted when he was 10 - when I was a kid I wanted to be 7 different things throughout the week, only made a serious decision in highschool. But she's hanging it all on his half-formed idea of being ~like her~. That's so dysfunctional it's hurting me just to even try to look at it in a logical manner.
Then there's the instant friend clique - are you telling me her son NEVER ever made any friends of his own and needed the new JinWoo to come bring his (also-idol-in-making) female friend so that JinWoo the son can finally smile again?! And she's "so sweet", and oh, we are all seeing where in the love triangle all this is heading, right?
Then there's the way the new JinWoo is falling for creepy situations when he all but begged for a little chance of finally making it as a singer... Why would he risk it?! It makes no sense, if he's truly committed - and if he's not, why did he have to go through with the whole almost-begging part? (And it can't be just about the debt.)
This is seriously some deep, anger-triggering misery porn and that's all there's to it so far.
Pure misery porn... And he'll never get any meaningful therapy (because where could it fit in 12 eps when he has to go and win that audition contest?) but it will all be healed through the power of winning some obscure talent show that in no way, shape or form will mean he made it. And in the meantime he gets to be put in some career-cancelling situations before he even starts, because adults can't do adulting.
I must be crazy, coming back to this.
ETA Decided to try to make it through my second-ever hate-watch. After The Impossible Heir, what's one more?
Who the f cares about the doomers? This drama is fun and that's all there is to it. On the other hand... I've already grown accustomed to fabricated black water in c-ent, that's their vibe and everything.
Still - for all MDLers hesitating to start it - dive in. It's hilarious and fast-moving. Good entertainment for de-stressing. If you're in the mood for a more serious drama, this won't be it - but relax once in a while, the year's already been tensed as f anyway.
There's something a bit off with the editing/pacing (on ep3), but Hou MingHao is looking amazingly good (better than in FoF, I can't believe that), and I already liked the FL (because of WoH :D)
Every time he's quoting The Alchemy First Law of Equivalent Exchange, he's killing me LOL - I keep expecting them to slip and have him say "touka koukan". (Also that he tried to re-write Dragon Ball novels hahaha~) Ladies and gentlemen, we have an otaku here :D
...But then the 6th rank disciple tries to make a chimera and all I can think of is "Ed...ward....~" I was not expecting THAT...
That moment of meeting the princess is so ROFLMAO - fated meeting, a skip beat of the heart, a~ nah, let's just go on our merry way :D
I'm almost at the end and I can barely make it - the FL's voice and manner are SO atrocious I feel a visceral need to scratch her eyes out every time she opens her mouth or ~cutely~ pouts. HOW ON THE FREAKING WORLD could they not freaking give up the childish FL and the screechy voice and the FREAKING sugary acting already!!!
Otherwise, the "novel" plot is good enough I guess, but I hate the FL so much already I can't stay invested anymore. (And by FL I mean the role, not the actress, I have no beans with her... but the freaking role she's playing is exhausting to watch.)
I'll finish this because there's so little remaining but I wish I hadn't started (despite Ding YuXi and the rest of the cast doing a pretty good job).
ETA DONE! Last few eps felt like a chore, good thing Ding YuXi is so good-looking. Anyways, my conclusion is that they were both trippin' on shrooms and that's all I have to say about this.
Eh. Buckets of blood as per usual, some cool moments and that's about it. I don't think I'll be watching a 2nd season even if they make it. In short, it looks like a knock-off Moving or something...
LOL, I wanted to slap him straight through the screen, he almost gave me a heart attack, I thought he was having…
I guess it's because he was distracting the killer from finishing up the student. But the way he did it... Gah, maybe Du Cheng is getting so fed-up with the existential dread Shen Yi is causing him to feel, he can't even react too much anymore LOL.
(Ep24) I feel I've missed way too many chemistry labs to be on the level with the experiment LOL. But...
So An LuRan is an organ trafficker who also dabs in genetic research and testing AND she couldn't have a kid so far because she's old - in an assisted reproduction lab though... - and what, does nobody go to jail or something for the Thalium poisoning?! The chemistry student who stole the salt doesn't get booted out of school, the clarvoyant lover who gave him the poison doesn't get jailed, the woman who plied him with aphrodisiacs also doesn't get punished in any way...
And in the middle of it all - she missed him having a massive cardiac event because she was off harvesting organs?! And somehow the mysteriously evil Dr. Fang does NOT know about THAT?!
Because why?...
And why is Shen Yi suddenly his watchdog while he's away?
Shen Yi's been doing way too many shady things lately, baby, get on your bike, ride home, drink your milk quietly and go to sleep, the big boys will handle this.
DU CHENG YOU IDIOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHILE ALL THIS IS GOING ON
Gosh i got goosebumps from Shen Yi in ep 20. Tan Jian Ci can really bring out Shen Yi complexity perfectly, i…
LOL, I wanted to slap him straight through the screen, he almost gave me a heart attack, I thought he was having a fugue and descending into madness!!! :D
how does the book ends can someone please tell me?
Kan gets out of prison a few years later with a suspended sentence because of good behaviour and Tew is there to pick him up and they continue right from where they left off. It's actually a HEA.
Hopefully they filmed a special ep - though it makes a lot of impact like this, too.
Where did you read the novel, because from your comment I got intrigued 😀
They're a publishing house that's been doing a LOT of danmei TL and now they're picking up Thai and Japanese works too. They did all MXTX novels and are working through Meatbun's LOL, and just licensed lots of amazing danmei (they're not extremely cheap, but I can attest they look amazing on paper - I think they do e-books too, but I just bought the paper books because I'm that kind of reader LOL). This is them (if you're interested in their danmei prints, there's a list):
They have a request form on their main page that anyone can fill (I requested about three danmei novels that I love and they licensed them!! I am pretty sure I wasn't the only one requesting though LOL).

Search Anna's Archive for "Euthanasia 2 Sammon" (in those words). And for the first volume (there are two), you can search for "Spare Me Your Mercy Euthanasia". I don't think it's an official TL (maybe someone picks it up, but I don't know about it so far.)
For anyone interested... SevenSeas DOES this - if people request the TL of danmei or Asian BL, they pick them up to license, from time to time. They already picked KinnPorsche for an official EN TL (I think the first volume is already out). So you can try :D
ETA... You know what. I think I'll go request it. Maybe they'll decide it's worth TLing :D
I wonder if they'll do the aftermath as a special episode (because that's not where it ends in the novels). This…
The novel ending goes like this: 8 years later Kan is conditionally released from prison (with a suspended sentence of about 10 more years to go if he reoffends in some way) and Tew is there to take him home. Given how they left off, Kan is pretty certain there won't be any relationship between them but Tew pretty quickly lets him know he also grew to understand why Kan did what he did and he forgave him for his mother - or rather, he too accepts his mother's dying wishes.
Then, even if Kan can never do anything medically-related ever again, he still has a support network made by Tew's friends and colleagues that he (Tew) makes accept Kan, too. And then they have a HEA.
I seriously think that warrants a short special (or even a full special) episode.

Sooooo... becoming a Guardian basically means he gets to sort even MORE files. I bet he felt just... thrilled :D
