She already mentioned she reincarnated so quickly because maybe she was murdered. If it turns out to be true, she wasn't the target - nobody cared about her - but maybe SeoHa. Since he was out of the country so much and now he's returned to make a mess of whatever his would-be killer wanted to do, it's probable they'll try again.

I haven't read the webtoon though, so no idea how close I'm getting.

Okay, that final scene made me feel a bit sad - I really did think the mother came over. So sad. But at least she and ChoWon can get to be friends.

You think HoWoo is VP's son, too - so SeungJo's brother? I think that maybe the VP did something evil, like arrange an accident or made the parents disappear somewhere they couldn't ever be found, with HoWoo the only survivor... Because he knew his own name and nothing else.

On the other hand, if HoWoo's family was only his mother, she COULD have been VP's mistress so that he would be an unwanted and bastard son, which could be the backstory.

When SeungJo said that VP used his own son I guess he was referring to himself - he went to give the bankruptcy or whatever it was called act to Mr. Jang because he believed it was the correct thing to do but then discovered it was all a ploy so that the company could be bought out on the cheap. At least that was my impression of that exchange...

Just a few days back I was thinking MAAAAN I REALLY NEED A GOOD MAKJANG JUST ABOUT NOW.

The last I completely watched was Ojakgyo Brothers, it's been FOREVER LOL.

Any good NEW(ish) makjang recs? ( And I mean the makjang is the soul of the drama, not just parts of it.)

SeungJo definitely remembers him, because he's a bit fixed on that adversary take-over of Haebit Constr.. He even remembers JiSoo coming at the site where her father fell that night, so it definitely marked him.

The villain - if it's only the VP - is the weakest part of the drama. Even if the editing could use some straightening up, the story actually makes a good amount of sense. BUT the villain isn't convincing. He was threatening someone and it should have been terrifying but it sounded like he was half-assing it, not really into the scene at all. I hope he improves. Or that there are more and better villains.

As for the rest of the charas - well, SeungJo seems surprised with whatever HoWoo is doing, and he shouldn't be, IMHO. What impressive new tricks could a green hand do in such an intricate world? If there's going to be any understanding between them (I won't hope for bromance) it'd better happen soon, cause it's not a long drama.

And I also hope they won't put any unneeded romance in it. There's not a lot of time for a 12 eps drama to even develop a convincing romance either.

Anyway, second ep was good - was sad to see the good guy leave, he was an honest person and that's a rara avis in dramas about corruption. I'll be waiting for next week's eps.

I bet it's something that went through the women. The initial shaman left it to some other girl/woman and it passed from one to another each time the host died. That grandmother of HaeSang is definitely suspect, and I BET it wasn't SanYung's father's idea to leave that hair thing to her. The grandmother did it - maybe unaware she was doing it by some spirit's compulsion... Or maybe the dad realised HE was under compulsion to leave that piece to his daughter, so he called in HaeSang.

Oooh, this is GOOD. I like it. I want more.

And the best is the slow burn horror, LOL. Never thought I'd say that, ever.

NGL, that decision doesn't make sense to me, even if he explained it. But then, it's about to hit the middle, and the usual slowdown isn't unexpected.

I'm seeing CJH and can't help it but think - this will be a superhero accountant drama :D

I don't know the other lead (he's an idol/singer?) but I'll keep watching for CJH.

What's with the mystery of his childhood years, and the amnesia, will there be a murder in the past or a secret rich kid lost backstory LOL? Is this an original script or is it based on something?

I think they're under the impression everybody in the Ye family died. They talked about Yun when YuRu found the fan she had worked on as a gift for her friend.

They will find out sometime, since Wang wants to make use of ShiAn.

He raped her. Now she's suicidal because of it BUT he wants her brother (who, might I say, was stupid enough to deliver himself in Wang's hands with NO backup instead of going directly to the capital to place a memorial to the king, as any scholar right in the mind would do) to show his support and let the people of the city see that even the survivors of the Ye family are in his power.

They're both hostages for the actions of the other. And in the meantime, I suppose Wang still has her in his power :(

A high-up official revolted against the king and Commissioner Wang (at LZS' prompt) joined the party with hope of getting more power and riches. That means he had to secure all noble families and all the wealth of merchants, so he killed them all off because it was the safest way.

I mean, he basically destroyed his own city, even if he pretends the Gu family did everything, nobody will believe him... as long as there are any survivors to say otherwise. ShiAn and Yun being still alive will become huge problems BUT Wang is a leecher - that's where the son got it from - and can't help himself.

Like in Goblin, Tale of the Nine-Tailed, Highlander, any and all vampire/werewolves-themed stories and dramas? Where, to be mentioned, everyone was immortal and not a special person remembering past lives while NOT being immortal?

It was a risky dive with ALL their dives, they just got really lucky before this one. The glass pannel was certified for 1.3km deep (the Titanic is at 3.8km deep), the body of the sub is made from carbon fiber (which tends to get microstructural damages with repeated stress, and can - and does - completely fail when such a crack appears anywhere. There was some titanium alloy to give it more strength, but this (civil) sub should have never been allowed to operate at that depth, if at all.

What most probably happened was that it suddenly failed around the 3km depth mark, when the sub lost comm (it wasn't unexpected and did happen before, so they waited it out before starting to panic). Very probably the whole body of the sub imploded (the pressure there is about 30.2MPa; for comparison, at sea level, atmospheric pressure is just about 101kPa). The water rushing in at that pressure differential destroyed anything soft - like a human body - in miliseconds, faster than nerve endings sending alarm messages to the brain could have reached the cortex. That means, none of them knew what happened because there was no time for their brains to get the info and process it. At least there's that for their families.

There are debris found, from the sturdier parts of the vessel, so they already are sure it's the sub. There are no bodies that can be recovered. There will probably be some inquests on how this whole mess was allowed to happen, because it's indefensible (a few years back, while on the level with the Titanic, for example, they discovered one of their thrusters was mounted in reverse. That is unacceptable for any crew or team who takes themselves and the lives of their passengers seriously.)The oceans deeps are the true unknown regions we get to explore, because it's so dangerous. As interesting as adventurous as it may be, going to such depths is not like going into space. There have been more people ON the Moon than in the Mariana Trench bottom, for example. Those depths are no joke).

Just for info - there IS a safer way even for civilians to go explore, even in the Challenger Deep, if they want to. But it COSTS lots of money, much more than Rush was interested in spending.

The first successful manned-deep-water sub was the Trieste. It took two people on the bottom of the Challenger Deep, 11km (minus about 90m) under the surface, the deepest point on the Earth's crust accessible to us). It had a 12.5+cm thick metal alloy body, the pannel was made out of multi-layered plexiglas (one outer pannel even cracked and scared them halfway to death in the descent), and it had multiple, redundant safety measures in place for anything that could happen. The dive happened in 1960, so we knew how to do it for a LONG time (before the Moon landing). But again... it costs.

The Trieste's improved second version, Trieste II, went to explore other deep sea places, including the Titanic wreck. And now there are newer class DSVs that are used, but mostly they're for the army (so they cost very, very much), and are used at around 6km depths at most. There aren't many of them (Alvin class).

So to sum up the rant, it CAN and WAS done safely before, but it costs money. The owner of the OceanGate was in it for the money he could get, not spend, so he took risks and now 5 people, including him, are dead. And lots of resources that could and SHOULD have been used in other places - like looking for survivors of the Greece and Spain refugee boats disasters - were used up to look for them instead.

Argh. Anyway, RIP to them and RIP to all the hundreds of souls lost in the two boat sinking disasters THIS WEEK. :(

I don't even like the idea of CPs, LOL (real-life people, even if actors, have their own personal lives that need no wild delusional input from fans). What I mean is that IF they have acted together before, they tend to be more relaxed around each other and that always improves their acting (particularly when there's supposed to be romance in it). Chinese fandoms though seem to hate the recurring pairings of their favorites and would even go to war over some of them.

If BL and LYX are friends, that's great and I'm happy for them. If they're a couple - or not - is not my business and I don't really care, TBH (the same as with BJT and SY). For me, again, this all is related to how comfortable they get to be with each other and nothing else.

I am one who always falls for the characters and never for the actors LOL.
