The backstory is the reason for what is going to happen in the present timeline. Watch it, because it tells you everything you need to know about the characters, their motivations, the relationships, the debts and feuds. Then it takes you back to the present fully aware of who these people are and why are they doing what they're doing.
Anyway, the present timeline is 1-2 and then 33-50 and the past timeline (obviously) is 3-33.
As soon as the red flags started going up, I knew a bloodbath was coming, LOL. Other than that, this was really enjoyable. I wish there was more time spent on the support charas (like bring Mr. Wei back for another season, let's!!), and on the brotherhood (not just the generals) and that the stupid charas weren't just that stupid, LOL...

Good cinematography, nice flow (though at some point the back and forth between some places really began to get boring), nice charas, I liked it. All's well.
Chinese BL. There are a few series ongoing that are as uncensored as Chinese series ever were, but they're not Chinese released, I think Revenged Love (based on Counter Attack by Chai JiDan, author of Addicted/Heroin and Advance Bravely) is now ongoing but airing internationally and not in China.

The hash symbol was used to denote separate IRC (or later, mIRC) channels. And (m)IRC channels and chatrooms were around since almost the first steps of the internet. Chatrooms eventually evolved into Yahoo! Messenger (or Y!M) and later on today's more modern messenger apps.
But you know, there's basically nothing that hasn't been around before, in some form. I mean, just take Nanni's letter of complaint about Ea-Nasir's bad copper LOL. We've always behaved the same, it's just the tech that kept changing :)
