Err... it's already obvious he's the X - Enigma one. The op scene is where he's investigating everything about what Sheng likes in an Omega, and studying well to fit the parameters, LOL.

And TBH, the only GOOD scenes he's in are those where he's shifting from tearful white lotus being so opressed and heroically - with a tear in the corner of his eye always - standing up for himself in the cruel-cruel world (LOL OMG that made my skin crawl hahaha) to the shameless Enigma planning how to get his claws in the un-suspecting wolf-soon-to-become-prey. That's when I do get interested... but I wish he'd act like that all the time, the white lotus meekness gets really boring for me :D

But Gao Tu is the regular suffering from a one-sided love Omega - I... kind of like that kind of Omega. At least he's not even trying to seduce his boss, I want to see Shen FALL and hit the ground really hard, LOL. Obviously not before they have a fall-OUT. Because tropes. IF we're getting an ABO, we need tropes. I just hope they keep any dubcon or rape out of this, 'cause that would ban danmei even outside China, LOL. Keeping fingers crossed.

And hey, I hear this is going to be mpreg, too, with both of the shous getting ~preganannte~ before it ends :D

She's the third MC, actually considered a FL given her place in the main cast. I think it's pretty safe to assume she's the one, given this is a 6-ep drama and we're already a third in. There's no time to bring in anyone hidden. The detective lost the glasses, he didn't know about the red lines - he's not the one.

What, they're calling him a white ROSE? LOL, he should be a white LOTUS :D (I guess they didn't think people who don't read danmei would get the trope).

Gao Tu is my catch-on, too. I want to see his and Shen's story, I'm not all that into a conniving super-Alpha and another Alpha. I mean... if it's ABO, I expect Alpha & Omega, not two Alphas seducing each other LOL.

PS For a good (and A&O pairing) regular type of omegaverse, one could try "Accidental Mark" or "Indulging in Wine". Those are my favourite two ABO danmei :D (though I'll admit I haven't read all that many in the subgenre).

LOL, unless you've already read some ABO (danmei or not) :D then only the existence of the Enigma genre needs introduction.

That is indeed Gao Tu's sister. I think Hua Yong is doing it to entrap Sheng (he also researched him - it's the first scene in the first ep) but maybe he's aware that Gao Tu is an Omega and needs help to pay for his sister's surgery. He definitely wouldn't tell Shen about it, given his aversion to Omegas, but since it's an opportunity to use it against Sheng, he's killing two hares with one arrow.

At least I hope he's that compassionate (since he's probably Shen's boss, too, and would have already had the money to just give Gao Tu directly if he wanted to) and just manipulating the truth a bit.

If it's all just a calculation to get on Sheng's side and then "conquer & dominate" him... then meh.

Sheng Shaoyu also wasn't supposed to like new Omegas - he's changing them like socks, the most one of them lasted was six months. And he despised Hua Yong as long as he thought he's a kept Omega or something. Anyway, I haven't read this specific novel (and AFAIK it's still being translated) so I'm ready to be amazed, if it happens.

There are very few stories where there's such a thing as an Enigma. I guess this is one of them.

Usually, there are Alpha (top of the food chain), Omega (bottom of the list, they can get pregnant and often do, weaker than usual for a male, pretty as heck is the norm), and Beta (regular people, don't experience heat, can get in sexual relationships with the other genres but can't impregnate or get pregnant from those relationships.)

Stories can pair whoever they want - two Alphas or an Alpha and a Beta, etc, but usually there's an Alpha and an Omega dynamic. Sadly most stories also involve dubcon or even rape, particularly when it's about heat - natural cycle or drug-induced.

An Omega would enter a reproductive cycle - or heat - when they're controlled by their pheromones and need an Alpha to settle them down. When they're mates, the Alpha would mark the Omega (by biting a gland on their neck, usually) and those marks can be permanent (and then the Omega would be assumed to be the Alpha's permanent partner and can't get with another Alpha again) or temporary (this is mostly a plot device, because everyone wants a forever love story). Any Alpha around an Omega in heat would be tempted and some can't control but respond to it and try to mark the Omega (thus all the abusive relationships in omegaverse stories).

BTW, everyone - in the real world, you, I, everybody - has pheromones (though the type and extent and uses are still in talk). So do all animals. We aren't particularly sensitive to them, but they do work in our bodies and can influence our lives. In most animals, they're usually related to sex/reproduction, but they can also be related to fear response or even communication (in insects). You've probably known about them already even if not in the specifics if you've ever had a biology lesson related to animals marking their territory, LOL (like wolves, bears, big cats etc spraying their territory in order to warn off rivals and let members of the opposite sex know they're available for reproduction). Or if you have a non-neutered tomcat - they're spraying in order to mark their zones and it stinks, so neuter your pets, people!

PS In an omegaverse, there are six genders (and we could top that by including Enigma), which means men AND women can be ABO.

PPS An S-tier person is someone in the very best class of his/her genre (in this case) or profession. So there are Alpha, but they're also ranked, some are less powerful than others. The S-tier Alpha is the top boss. There can be S-Tier submissives though (I haven't seen one in an ABO story but it's also not my main danmei subgenre, but I've read a few stories with S-tier Sentinels or Guides, and they're pretty much always the underdogs, socially).

My favourites so far are the other pairing, LOL - Gao Tu and the clueless boss. I want to see THAT story now. I'm pretty sure Hua Yong will stop pretending he's a will-o'-the-wisp delicate omega soon enough, but I want to see how Gao Tu grows a spine and brings Shen to heel, 'cause so far he's only managed to slowly kill himself in order to stay around an Alpha who can only abuse him.

As for why I think the main love story isn't that strong - well, it kind of happened out of the blue didn't it? One moment Sheng Shaoyu hates everything about strange Omegas and has no interest in them, then he ups and pays medical notes for strangers (I know it's for Gao Tu's sister, but he doesn't know that), gets addicted to cookies he doesn't even like, moves in with an Omega working for another Alpha, etc... That's not how things work, even in a non-ABO 'verse.

But we'll skip over all that just for the courage to make a drama like this.

Well, as for the story, I've read better omegaverse novels. But this is finally an actual ABO drama, so I'll take it. It sure helps that all the main charas are stunning. I'm ready for the enigma to go to town LOL.

The story itself is kind of bland - so there are people who can see the line naturally and then someone made a special pair of glasses to make normal people see it too. And then they kept giving it away to people and watch the sh!tshow that ensues.

In this drama: EVERYBODY has sex with multiple partners. Some with dozens, LOL. Like - when did they even have the time?! It can't be that most of them are opportunistic lovers and/or engage prostitutes. I'll believe it in Det. Han's case - 'cause he's so freaking HOT - but most of the people on the street... not so much, LOL. Oh well. I guess we'll see where this goes, then.

The (female) teacher did / does it. It's not even debatable LOL.

Anyway, wow, NSFW OP, take warning. Don't watch this (OP) together with family / minors. Other than the OP though, nothing much in the actual episodes.

Also... oh wow, does Lee SooHyuk look like SeongHwa here, I like this haircut a lot. I keep looking at the eyecandy when he's on screen hahaha.

First impressions...?

Almost started reading the novel, but too many danmei got in the way LOL. So is this adaptation something like NF usually does, a long soup of 2-3-4-whatever seasons that get cancelled mid-way through the story or get a nonsensical ending slapped on to just get it done? :D

For the cast's sake I hope not... but I've been burned before and I stopped trusting them.

We're barely past the halfway point though, I guess things aren't going to go smoothly now anyway... But I like how he immediately caught on how things work based on her random hint, and then started his own behind-the-scenes work :) Nice ending to the 6th ep. This is going great. Can't wait to watch her see her turtle LOL.

PS This is a girls' game though, Shiraishi Sei is OWNING it so far. I'm fascinated by her :) And WOW did Misa look amazing in her gyaru outfit :D

He was successful and some of his enemies weren't. That's enough for some people. Also, his lover was cheating on him and would have a reason to get rid of him, too (and keep the money). Something happened between him and his old friend (with the mom keeping the water-side cart), too.

There are plenty of things that set people off. Some just need an opportunity and would just take it...
