Episode 30. We are finally here! Is this going to be fluffy cure the ML episode? 🥰I do love how they are keeping…

Episode 29. Penultimate episode! What will we see next? 🤫Well of course there is going to be an ambush. At…
And they would have used those crossbows too but sadly bamboo got in the way. And they were out-ridden and out-smarted by some undisciplined girl (with no crossbow) who teleported there for plot reasons.

I guess Storm Troopers don't really belong just in a galaxy far far away...

TBH I quite disliked the father, and it's not just the character. Or if it was, then that one's a great actor, but he gave me the ick through the whole series, including (and especially) when in a scene with YuShan. Like creepy-crawlers on my skin. That's not how a father, close or distant, acts or talks around his daughter, WTF.

Nah, this (the ending anyway) doesn't compare to Blossom. Just found the novel and skip-reading things that weren't in the drama, Song Mo is terribly cute BTW, I recommend the novel (or at least those chapters not really covered in the drama).

😂 I pretty much agree with everything you said! Yes, WTF with the horse? Just a coincidence?😂Yeah ML's mentor…
Not just the horse just happening to exist there right when she needed to escape, but she also from all roads available to flee, she picked precisely the one who led her to HanYan being in need of a rescue ('cause of course we couldn't have her be rescued by actual soldiers who freaking should know what they're doing) AND she suddenly decided now it's time to save her half-sis that she detested enough some two eps back to marry to a man she KNEW wasn't any good... And then take her order/command/request to go BACK into the city (where her husband is supposedly looking for her) and even to the palace, like...

... I really would like to know what the writer was smoking when he was writing the last 7-8 eps.

The MOST infuriating scene in the last part, TBH, is HanYan barely managing to get inside the prison to pry off some helpful info from YunXi to save his life, but instead they're busy declaring their love, him finally telling her he's dying by poison, also "pushing her away for her own good" and she trying to use reverse psychology on him like a middle-schooler ("if you don't want to live, I won't be there for your family" - girl, puhleeze.)

TBH this is kind of the first time ever I watched a not-BE epilogue of a cdrama in 2x speed. I really liked the…
So, I myself am a woman, but this got really cringey by the end.

Like... what the actual f!ck is all that emasculation of all male characters AND the girl-boss-power switch around ep 23 or so?! From mysterious, broody and secretive, FYX suddenly became passive, useless and always a step behind anything happening. In front of her mother's tomb in the epilogue he says "though I'm so dumb I'll try to protect her" - like WTAF?! He was always three steps ahead of her until the writer decided he wanted a girl-boss.

Then the genre switched from hatred-fueled revenge displaying intelligent kind of really hard/strong charas to basically costume melodrama.

All the women in the story got redemption arcs, people who were in it for two seconds in the first arcs suddenly get together and help the FL when she's down (AGAIN) because in patriarchal Confucianist ancient China suddenly men are irrelevant and women can do anything and declare it all out in the open. No but seriously WHY?? It was working very well before they decided to change it, and for what?!

All her plans were missing the final execution needed to succeed, her father always found a scapegoat - ALWAYS, she was befuddled and striking in all directions at once, and then suddenly things moved really really fast, we got expositions of what went down and not a single scene to show anything actually taking place, and instead of seeing the actual defeat of villains, we're "treated" to yet ANOTHER misunderstanding between FL and ML, yet ANOTHER plot-switch from the father, outside of focus, making anyone else the culprit, like... But in the end all's well that ends well, or something. Because they love each other and she - instead of skinning the bastard father alive, chooses to live and let live??! WHY the f!ck?! Like, did the writer forget who he was writing about, or did they actually change writers mid-filming?!

I'm a little frustrated TBH.

I was ready to say this is CDL's best role yet, but right now I'm disinclined to do so. The first 2/3rds of the story's HanYan - yes, that's great. The last part is a total mess.

Anyway, it was fun while it lasted. The soundtrack was good - the ending song reminded me of TTEOTM's OST, LOL, and the BGM reminded me - a lot - of The Embers' OST. Since there's no one credited with the OST writing in here, I guess I'll be looking for some info elsewhere. I wish Xin YunLai gets another chance at costume drama where's he's allowed to show anything else than a stern and unflinching face and at least SOME actual normal-human dialogue in the final parts of it, since he didn't get that chance here.

PS So, let's all just pretend Zhuang ShiYang really COULDN'T have taken that knife from his concubine, because he never spent his whole life in a kitchen around knives and he has zero idea how to use one. And oooooh, he's SO afraid of his wife because of reasons. Like, no... SERIOUSLY?!

SMDH

PPS What was that strange nothing-related Zhang KangLe and the other actress cameo in the middle of things? They got names and all, for just about one minute of story. Is Rebirth produced by this same team and/or company or something, LOL?

I really liked the first 2/3rds of the drama, then something happened and the latter 1/3 basically blew the landing. Still, the first 2/3rds of the drama are intense and tightly written, so I guess it deserves a good rating, if only for that.

Is he also poisoned in the novel? And if so, do they find an antidote in time or is it a BE?
Thank you! Let's hope they keep the spirit of the novel's ending even if not the actual ending, and it's a HEA :)

Have we seen the Emperor? Will he finally show up in the final five episodes? Zhuang Shi Yang's plot contrivance…
He got all the gold and other treasure from being the adopted son of the dead eunuch. Now all he wants is to drive away the ghosts and not get found out.

Nobody saw that gold, LOL, not even FYX.

After the Pei partisans were removed from the court, I guess it's now just the two adopted sons - the real one and the undercover lost spy.

I think he'll get dead somehow, I haven't read the novel so I've no idea on that...

But the grandma didn't know the skeleton had been dug up. And they presented Yuwen's findings in the courtroom, he might think it was all Yuwen, FYX and HanYan.

They're not even legally step-siblings, since SDJ isn't recognised legally as HID's son. Calm down about it LOL.
This is not a freaking threesome, what the hell are you smoking?! They're not getting it on with FAMILY in between in the bed when they're doing "it".

I think you're confusing laws with your own view of what should be "morally accepted". Say they were married already, then their parents divorced or became widowed of their former partners, married and maybe had another child with each other. Does that invalidate their own marriage?!

You keep bringing up that their PARENTS are married to each other - the first children (not TaeYun) are NOT blood or legally related. And that is all.

Where are those laws that parents and unrelated children from former relationships cannot be married at the same time?

It would have been a bit gray morally IF they had been raised together as siblings even if not bio or step-siblings (but with the same expectations as real siblings). But they were NOT. They're unrelated, started a relationship while they were originally strangers to each other, all these later revelations do not impact their own relationship at all.

And LOL, yeah, let's bring up how she's the "daughter" (still unclear if he adopted her or not) of the man who killed her biological father, whom she loved and wants to revenge, and it's morally wrong to what - betray this mystical link between them? Ha.

TaeYun is DeokHui's son (mother of EunNam but through Yeo SunHo) and his father is HID (also father of SDJ but with Madam Chu).

HOW does that make the both of them biologically related?! There is no blood link between them, no matter who their parents decided to marry afterwards or how many other children they had together.

SDJ is NOT legally recognised as HID's son (and I highly doubt he would be in the future), so there is NOT EVEN a legal relationship of any kind between them. Also, just the sake of the argument, it doesn't say ANYWHERE so far that HID actually adopted EunNam, too, so that means she's not legally his daughter either.

How is their relationship forbidden by law anywhere?! Closely blood-related people are legally stopped from marrying, but again, they are not either blood step-siblings OR legally step-siblings in any which way.

The fact you're getting hanged up on this issue might be a "you" problem.

the level of unfazed that his ex was potentially his sister had me rolling 😭
POTENTIAL is the word. Why freak out before anything is clear?! He didn't even know the man in the picture, why would he be so certain suddenly that's his father, too?

And in the end, it took a day or so to discover who his real father actually is, so the drama wasn't necessary anyway.

At this point though, I guess he's numb already. Everything and anything happening to him isn't even important - what's important is getting revenge and making fools out of all his would-be killers.

Their respective parents have no biological relationship (unless we count Adam and Eve). The fact they might share a half-brother through each parent does not, in any way, connect their own DNA, LOL.

And SDJ is NOT legally HID's son, so they're not related even tenuously through their parents' marriage.

So nope, it's not a problem. Let's chill.

She's the dumbest pretty carrot hanging in front of a smart (but blindly in love) ML.

Expect tropes. Expect makjang. Kopiko PPL too.

But don't hold your breath on the FL becoming smarter. She is what she is.

Among all the options of who was dont ju’s father I didn’t think of that one. So now, iWebLove need to know…
I think it's safe to assume she's her father's daughter LOL. Since her father didn't have anything to do with SDJ's mother (according to Dr. Kang's father who was their friend), and they definitely don't share a mother, it remains that they're not related by blood (not that there's any scriptwriter in SK that would dare introduce incest in a drama LOL).

The sweetest lady Mrs. Yeom is living in terror, didn't you notice her reactions to her husband's merest word? She's trembling every time she gets the impression she overstepped - that's not being sweet, that's being forced into her own lalaland so she doesn't have to witness what he did or does.

HID tried to kill SDJ four times already, and while Yeom JangSeon may have provided the weapons or means from time to time, each time it was his OWN suggestion - YSJ tells him that, it's always been HID who's the decisive one when he was backed against a wall.

(Come to think of it, that's something SDJ also has, wow. Every time they back him into a corner, he comes out swinging. Not to kill, but to escape and get even. I hope they don't push him way too far, I don't want him to be a killer in the end, too).

Okay..the female psychologist..she was so unprofessional when she left the video open let her dad use her computer…
Dr. Kang's father is the most adapted and calm person in this series, if anyone should/could have watched that recording and have a normal reaction to it, it was him.

The first thing after seeing it was to calmly explain there's no way in hell SDJ is YSH's son or that there was anything going on about SDJ's mom and YSH or himself. He's wrong about HID, but then the relationship sure looked very well kept secret.

And the second thing he did after watching it was trying to tell HID about it, so that all misunderstandings get clarified and there's an explanation for his past deeds, too.

Mr. Kang is really normal. He should just gather everyone and have a end-of-mystery-novel type of talk about whodunnit and why, LOL.

I mean... nobody in this comment section likes her, who best to get the Kopiko curse?! At least it wasn't SDJ again, he didn't deserve that LOL.
