1. He could say whatever, fact is he disappeared while being under investigation. Anything he says is automatically considered false. The investigation was suspended, not closed. When he came back they took it up again and this time he went to jail (because no powerful relationships and no money, LOL).

2. TaeYun sent the pictures and message to SDJ as he was going on the boat. There's nobody there yet to find the body and let everyone know, and maybe SDJ went off grid. The pic and the message are pretty much confirmation that TaeYun wasn't intending to kill himself and who he was with at the time - so in any case it means there's circumstantial evidence of the murder and whodunit.

3. They were partners in crime - Sec. Gong knew all about DeokHui and commiserated. DeokHui wanted the kid gone because she thought it was her husband's. And Sec. Gong learned about the killing at the same time as DeokHui (YEN heard them talking about it).

4. She might not have managed to find him if he didn't want to be found.

That's precisely why SDJ was crying at the end - he got to be CEO, he got to claim revenge (his mother's killer is dead, his father's and his sister's killer is locked up in jail for who knows how long, since he's in for both crimes), but also he lost the love of his life (because she's stupid, but that's another topic) and basically everything he ever worked hard for is now made hollow. All that fight - and for nothing. So the ending fits perfectly to that.

It was the ring he wanted to give to her that night. She chose to be stupid instead and then everything else happened. She's wearing it now because she remained stupid and thinks there's any possible way to return to how things used to be - dream on, YEN.

Okay, then Honda from A Shop for Killers isn't dead either. I will it so :D

Yeom lost everything - his reputation, his marriage, his power and all his money and after being locked up in a cage for a year he just exchanged it for a bigger cage. Sure he could get out (since he knows lots of secrets) but where is the proof for whatever he chooses to say? And since he's down, everybody will come for his throat while he's powerless.

DongJoo barely escaped with his soul after all this - he almost killed Yeom and became his father. Even stupid YEN praised him, thinking he DID kill Yeom and that might've shaken him up the most, the way everybody not just expected, but were okay with him being a killer. I think he's powerful enough to escape depression since he's out of the Cha influence, and he still has all that money to do whatever with it - give it for welfare, start another business, just live off it forever. And there's nothing else keeping him affixed, not like when he was forcing himself to be Yeom's jailer.

It was a pretty good ending all things considered. He's out (the ending is letting you choose what you want for him - to live or die), the Cha family will tear themselves apart, they already started, DeokHui has her own punishment in TaeYun (she could've let him leave and that would've stopped it) and Chairman Cha has the heir he deserves (because SeonWoo won't allow YEN to be CEO and he's not all that able either.)

It was a fair ending. I mean, not all dramas have to be HEAs, and the romantic part didn't deserve a HEA anyway, so better leave it bittersweet. At least Yeom HuiCheol got to mend some bridges with SDJ and now they'd be at least friendly enemies.

That's why I think he won't kill himself. Nobody, SDJ included, can kill SDJ :D

The Dandelion files are SDJ's card to get-out-alive-with-the-money. He did give them to the reporter, but I think she's smart enough not to play with fire. Hopefully.

SeonWoo isn't pivoting out of character - he used to be a teen delinquent and the way he acted around the Cha family and particularly his father showed he either doesn't really care at all about family bonds, or he's fooling them with the goody-two-shoes act. On the one hand, what pushed him into bad deeds as a teen might've been precisely having to grow up fatherless, and all that anger just bottled up inside of him. He thinks the Cha money is due to him and won't admit competition. But on the other hand - I think he's just a psychopath. I mean, his father was having an attack and might as well been dying for all that they knew, but SeonWoo didn't even move, looking at him kind of bored until his mother called to him to help. (As a contrast, TaeYun immediately rushed to help, then OR when SDJ got the cinnamon biscuits, for example. TaeYun has a lot more empathy, SeonWoo doesn't care for any other human being. Maybe his mother... at most.)

But since we never saw the hand that pushed TaeYun, what are the chances that Ms Ji did it? I think it was SeonWoo, but who can tell...

As for why did TaeYun have to die - he's his mother's reason for everything she did and so he must be her punishment.

If they make a sequel it won't be another makjang but maybe a psychological drama or something, where he revisits all his problems and heals. With Dr. Kang's help :D

6/10 eps in, we've had more fillers than the main OTP scenes. Those who started it will probably continue but this is not what it should've been already.

It's too soon but I don't think there would be another season. This one ends as it should even if some people don't like it. After all not all dramas are for everyone, some like them, some do not.

Wait, what were you asking before - if they end up together, no they do not (YAY!!), if he still has the money (YES! :D), whose son he is and if they're siblings, you already learned that - HID's and no they're not.

Let's make a league to get SDJ in Dr. Kang's orbit. He has mental health issues by now for being close to the Chas for so many years.

And hey! He's now best frenemies with Yeom HuiCheol! I mean, they should make a club of YEN's ex-lovers/husbands.

He's really a psychopath, LOL, when his father was having his gastritis attack he did carry him but had to be told to do so, he kept playing on the phone looking on the scene totally uninterested until his mother made him play along.

And yes, he didn't intervene between his mother and DeokHui, but I think he started planning already, or maybe he was already planning by then, looking for the opportunity.

The complete lack of respect he showed Chairman Cha, keeping up with the "harabeoji" joking manner of calling him even when he was recognised and included in the registry was another tell. Only when he realised how much money he would get did he start talking to him respectfully.

Psychopaths are good at leading normal lives, people don't really recognise the traits until they do something really atrocious and get found. We'll see if there's enough steam for a sequel where he'd get some punishment, but I think not. The suggestion is there, that SDJ has some proof he did it, but we won't ever see it.

Anyway, beautiful makjang and the best of all, the love line died :D After what she pulled in the first ep, she never redeemed herself, and with the thumbs-up for thinking he killed Yeom, she never learned better,

I vote for SDJ with Dr. Kang.

No LOL. And they won't. He seems totally done with anything Cha and for good reason.

She was killing him herself anyway. He wanted to study music, she pushed him into business and he didn't really fit in. And when he cried out to her about escaping, she basically blackmailed him with her life's purpose to stay there and take it. So he was going to probably waste his life in a world not of his own choice and I seriously think him being on that rooftop so many times ON the ledge, not on the safe side, points to some suicidal ideations already. But SeonWoo did him the "favour" so maybe there might be a chance for some sequel - I don't think it will come though - who knows...

The rule of thumb for kdramas is no gunshot, no death.

You know what... you're right. The way he was struggling in business when he wanted to study music, the way his mother was strangling him and basically chained him to his pointless life, having to live it for her instead of his own... I guess SeonWoo did him a favour. But he did it the Cha way, unexpectedly with a stab in the back, as they all did from that family.

I think the idea was that he was the weakest Cha. Everybody else is A-OK with murder for any which reason (DeokHui got her own husband and SDJ's mom killed, Chairman Cha got HID killed and tried to have SDJ killed too, SeonWoo pushed TaeYun, the useless daughter tried a lot of things that didn't work, even YEN poisoned SDJ accidentally LOL). So when TaeYun was so friendly and innocent, it naturally led to him being eliminated by the snake nest of his family.

SeonWoo was a "reformed" delinquent. I guess the reform didn't take all that well.

I KNEW SeonWoo WASN'T joking when he pushed him the first time. But maybe it took a bit of time to get enough courage to actually do it - which makes it in cold blood, which makes HIM a cold-blooded killer, exactly like Chairman Cha deserves.

I won't say I care if he executes the rest of the family - good riddance to them too.

I'm just happy SDJ didn't take the last step. Even if it cost him his mental health, even if that last scene is left to interpretation, I don't think he'll kill himself. I think he has all that money and will probably go do some work in his sister's name or something. And best of all, even if he kissed her at the end - it was definitely a kiss goodbye, not a passion-inspired kiss. That closed the door on that romance and if YEN can't see it, she's just as stupid as we've always seen her.

And hey, if SDJ has depression and even got to have nightmares and hallucinations... We all also know a certain Dr. Kang who also happens to be a psychiatrist. He should give it a try. Just saying.

This was a great ride - as I've repeatedly said, I do love good makjang and this was perfect. I wish they'd have left HID a little bit more time to try and get forgiven, but at least he came back for a few minutes. And the way SDJ handled Yeom was also good - even if he's not dead, everything he had is gone and he went from one prison to another. I wonder how he managed not to go crazy in a tiny SECRET secret room, LOL, nothing to do all day but fold paper money into planes. Ugh. Then again, he managed to get a bit of revenge in poisoning SeonWoo's mind.

Though I don't think it took a great effort - in the very beginning, SeonWoo was presented as an ex-delinquent, so the criminal mindset was always there. Enough crumbs were planted for everyone to get their own preferred ending - like for example, I choose to believe when, if ever, SDJ comes back he has pretty good circumstantial evidence that SeonWoo and TaeYun were together at the time TaeYun "fell"/was pushed. So sooner or later, SeonWoo will also get his punishment.

Overall - good-looking leads, great emotional conflicts, enough action, AMAZING music, great entertainment. It had it all.

... Now I guess it'll be some time before another great makjang comes along... I'll be having withdrawal symptoms LOL.

ETA Oh wait I just remembered - the MAIN reason he did the go-away-looking-at-the-sunset-with-a-gun thing was probably YEN's complete and total approval for him having killed Yeom (he did not, she didn't know, but still). She was all over him, "good job!" - WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F!CK WOMAN!! At least PRETEND to be disappointed or say something like he didn't have another option, don't just go "great thing you're a heartless killer, that's what I love about you!!" THE HELL!!!

No seriously, every Cha family member has murder in their blood. Maybe it's a good thing TaeYun fell. At least we could think of him as being the normal one.

I liked the ending. It's perfect for the way it took toward the end. And TBH I liked SeonWoo the most in the last ep, LOL, a snake's son remains a snake. Chairman Cha got exactly what he deserved, even if he won't remember it the next second. Good riddance!

And hey, some charas even got HEAs - I mean, Yeom HuiCheol didn't remain married to YEN so he had a very lucky escape LOL.

Haven't had time to watch the last ep yet because work - but the BGM OST is out and it's still just as amazing as it was from the very beginning :) This goes on the replay list.
