Be warned the drama doesn't end like the novel (in that they don't include the epilogue from the novel).
Main cast is Luo YunXi, Bai Lu, Deng Wei and Chen DuLing (so yeah, they're all amazing.) It's a (very) abusive xianxia love story (well, it's xianxia) where the FL undergoes the total destruction of her sect and basically the whole world because of the Devil God and she's sent to the past to stop him from becoming the Devil God. Obviously that includes killing him. But when she meets him in the past, he's just a human and they fall in love (despite him being unable to feel or recognise emotions). So now she has the dilemma of being guilty of destroying the man she loves - and who is still innocent - or allowing him to begin becoming the Devil God who will eventually bring on the catastrophe to destroy the world.
It has the most amazing colours you could ever see in a xianxia (no more pure white or pale blues only, the costumes are rife with colours), a great soundtrack, great acting, amazing special effects (for a xianxia, that's saying some). And LYX is the Elfish prince of xianxia, LOL.
Also be warned that there's a contest of blood-spitting that TTEOTM won over any other xianxia drama (Cheng Yi's Love & Redemption lost miserably, LOL), and while FoF was airing, we joked that they wouldn't spit (a lot of) blood because TTEOTM used up all the fake blood reserves hahaha~
what do you mean by her grandfather's actions? how is being in a forced marriage going to help her find out who…
She didn't even get the shares yet. If marrying who they told her to marry means getting the shares, how come she doesn't have them in her own name yet? 'Cause the grandpa offered her a divorce from her current husband if she wanted SDJ, but she wouldn't get the shares then.
Which means she doesn't haven't them now. When does she get them?! When he dies? When the inheritance is distributed? But then why should she need to marry if she's not going to get them now anyway?!
That cover story doesn't make sense. I hope it's just used to show us she's not really all that in love with him as he is with her (since he actually did give up the chance to cosy up to the DaeSan heiress - when he didn't know yet- and picked her over everything.) And he already had plans to infiltrate DaeSan as deeply as he could and take control - his secret identity definitely has a link to that plan.
And if she doesn't really love him... then 1. either she actually falls deeper and sacrifices enough for him to earn him back or 2. she dies for him somehow and frees him from his unequal love to find someone else better.
PS SDJ and HID had great erotic chemistry together, LOL. That move, that BGM, the way HID looks at SDJ at times, hahaha~ I had a theory that SDJ could be HID's actual bio son, and after ep6 I am not sure I want to keep it, since it would be at least sketchy LOL, the way these two move around each other...
She's Lady MacBeth. She can't help herself, just like the scorpion stinging the frog. But I didn't really expect…
Well, obviously it's the best way to cover up the murder (if Na Wei is alive, obviously Na Wei wasn't killed off by anyone, right? And nobody was going to miss the actor.) And then there's his actual wealth and business contacts, and then there's the drug-spreading network he already had in place. Easier to replace him than rebuild everything from scratch, risking to get caught.
The actor got the wealth, exposure and role of his life, so he was all in with it.
The ones who suffered were ZhiBai's family and Xia, but I guess MeiHua left that as a problem for another day, as long as it helped her then and there.
it was said that it had been months since Dongju disappeared since going to his trip, the possibility of her being…
Yeah well, I'll be very crass here... She was going to do to him the same thing next day that he was doing to her that night, only without the foreplay. And without the protection too, so to speak.
So yeah. She was "buying an indulgence" in advance.
Are you new? Koreans (and many international fans) love their makjang. And I don't think "cheesy" is right at…
So this is an old-fashioned thriller for old-fashioned people, let's watch it anyway :D
Who cares, everyone has their own taste and there's no accountability for that. I like makjang and I like thrillers, so I'll watch this unless it turns completely brain-dead. To each their own, let's all live and let live :D
Mr huh caring about dongju was a slight surprise. He actually felt remorse for killing him. It seems there is…
He doesn't feel remorse he tried to kill him, he's remorseful he didn't get the password before he did, and got the 2 trillion Won for himself, LOL. It's all about the money :D
... But it would be awesome if it turns out SDJ is HID's secret son (the chaebols already have plenty of those, they should leave some for the poors who married into the family). And THEN he'll have to have a hard think about it LOL.
Anyone ever wonder that DongJu MIGHT end up with Dr Kang?
Sadly, it's true love based on the first ep, he'll go stupid and return to the FL. But yeah, I'm projecting as hard as I can hoping that the producers grew a brain and made the switch.
Still. This IS a thriller makjang. Who's taking bets that the doctor too is going to go after the info in his head, and not in a romantic manner, LOL?
I just watched the 1st episode and ML and FL seemed quite closeBased on the tag revenge thriller and all, is it…
In the beginning it was pure, dumb, true love (on his part at least). He didn't even know her actual identity and she never shared. Her plans didn't seem to include him in any way (not even enough to let him know she's going to marry someone else).
Now though... he thinks she didn't even come to run away with him (she did), and he remembers the betrayal, the bullets and the torture. All bets are off.
If the story is set in the 60s and they're already young adults (around 20, say) then they were born at least at the beginning or middle of the 40s. Say they have their own children at around 25 or so, those children are about to turn 60 in our days. That's a whole another generation (loosely around 20-25 years in spread IIRC).
So if the charas were young adults in the 60s, that would be our grandparents' generation at most. I DID just see a pic of 6 generations in just one image on reddit, though, with the oldest woman being around 80+ and the latest member - her great-great-great-granddaughter - being around a week old. They were all having kids very very early, so it is possible, just (hopefully) not that common.
Anyway, someone said they put in the year in each ep (which I didn't know 'cause I'm not watching it, given I don't really like period dramas set in the 50-70s range) so that's moot already.
What made me wonder, though, was the synopsis that said it was about our parents' generation, and it's so far back I really had to take a guess which generation that was.
I got three quarters through the first ep, I can't go on, this is the Temu version of Reset. They're not even trying. Even the Pachelbel canon is playing (with very minor variations). How on Earth did this get through c/right checks? (I'm assuming they're enforcing it when it's their own works at least).
For those wondering if it's as good as Reset, no, it's not, it's just a pale copy by mid-first ep and I am not inclined to give it more time than I already did. Hard pass.

Try it on. I think you might like it.
Spare Me Your Mercy (Thai, modern, BL, good plot and acting, good ending.)
Guardians of the Dafeng (not BL, not a lot of bromance though there's bonding, good hype-up drama, great acting,)
Blossom (het, no bromance, but damned that's a good one).
Love for Love's Sake (actual SK BL, LOL) - modern, good acting, nice pace, good OST. If you want a HEA.
Oh No! Here Comes Trouble - not BL either, but great bromance, and you wanted something similar in feeling to FoF, so you picked pain anyway LOL.

Man, I was ROFLMAO along with all of them, gangsters included :D That's such an awesome throwback to Spaceballs :D
