Okay, what was up with the leaf in the water? Can someone help me out? 😅
Very old-fashioned (historical kdrama-level) elegance. Like keeping your little finger up when drinking from a cup or something.
That's why everybody's staring LOL, they can't believe he's behaving like he's from Joseon (he's freaking 31, LOL, the writer's playing with the watchers on this one, LOL) :D
Did ML lost his memories three times? One from the boat incident, one from a car incident and one in his childhood?…
My theory is that he was probably half-asleep in that car, as kids do, and half-listening to the adults speaking in it. He believed he was driving, then it was his father, then he was the passenger, then he was in the back next to a girl he almost remembered.
Given he was small enough to eventually forget his own name, I think his memories of the accident got mixed-up. And he was already having a second trauma-related amnesia episode anyway. Hypnosis isn't a 100% proven psychiatric tool to use for amnesia (except in movies or dramas), people who can get influenced can get influenced to imagine things that never happened, too, or twist things that did happen but not like that.
I think it's her character regardless of the actor. That's the case for me. Just wish she communicated more with…
The point isn't that there's a reason she chose the shares (twice, I might add). The point is that the shares are more important than him. And worth making him go through hell - he has to see her get wed with no warning whatsoever, on the day he wanted to propose to her. She got up from his bed in the morning, all loved-up, then went and dressed in white and married another guy. In front of the "love of her life".
That's the whole thing. Her grandfather even tested her later, offering her a way out of the marriage, if she wanted DongJoo, and she still picks the shares.
What good are those shares though? It's not even a controlling pack for DaeSan. What are they going to prove? Her stepfather most probably killed her bio father, or maybe just had a hand in it... how are a few shares in a huge conglomerate that is listed (otherwise the shares don't matter at all) and barely the same amount as all other family members... going to help her point the blame of her father's death to her stepfather? A few private detectives would have done a thousand times better than that.
She does a lot of very stupid things. She might not be a very bright character and so far, her only merit is that he's in love with her, blindly. That's about all there is to her.
I have hope there will be more, since we're not even halfway through the drama. But so far... the character does not impress.
... My mom was a kid at that time, and I am not a spring chicken myself either, LOL. Maybe it's addressed to the director or writer's respective parents' generation, then.
Next episode we will know that they are related in some way or not as donju regains his memories so if they are…
They were sleeping together for a year before the story starts, they're not siblings (not even step), because SK drama producers aren't that brave, LOL.
When is Tangerines supposed to take place (in time)? The synopsis says it's a tribute to our parents' youths, to which generation is this addressed to?! Because they look like they were dress shopping in the 50s or 60s, at most the beginning of the 70s, and that generation would be probably great-great-great grandpas and grandmas to today's youths.
I'm not going to argue here, since it already happened... but why would it make it more significant not to know that the cliche appears in this ep? It wasn't clear who got hit, if anyone, and what the resolution of its appearence would be.
We don't even know why Sister Agnes is actually someone important, she was in - total - maybe 10 minutes in the whole drama, her real relationship to the ML isn't explained (yet), why would her demise be of more significance than shocking him into remembering his past by witnessing the accident (because he doesn't remember her anyway to care more than a living person getting smashed by a truck in front of him)? So far she's just a plot vehicle so her death doesn't impress much (except for the ML, for yet unrevealed reasons).
So yeah. It happened. If the scene - plot - characters - are engaging enough, I largely stay focused on the screen, though, not browse while watching, TBH, and I expect most other people do the same. So maybe getting a (not so unexpected) spoiler is not that important in the grand scheme of things, just sayin'.
Sorry for the long rant, LOL. These things (rants) also happen.
It's a drama so rich in cliches you know it would have come up. I was expecting it to be in his childhood, since he first lost his memory in a car accident, but here it came.
I guess we still might get the WToDTM in the childhood accident anyway because who's to stop them? *shrug*
I literally knew right when she got out of that taxi she was gonna get hit. So unoriginal.
I'm at about the tenth pervasive cliche so far and I surely missed a lot of the minor ones. I don't mind - this is what makjang always is, and I'm all in for it.
first few eps were great but its going downhill just finished ep 7 and its going down hill firstly that cleaner…
Ep7 isn't even out though. And everybody does hate on the FL for good reason. We're not halfway through yet anyway, there's time to do even more stupid things, LOL.
Sidenote: paragraphs work wonders into making text legible.
This is AMAZING. I was so in need of a good makjang :D This delivers on every front. The WhiteTruckofDoomTM included…
What WAS that feet-lock though??? It definitely looked like SDJ suddenly turned it into some erotic game with HID, hahaha~ HID was so flustered, he didn't know what to do with himself then - predictably - decided enough is enough and picked up the weights to smash them on SDJ's head, hahaha~
ETA The scene started with a slow sexy theme too - kind of like something by The Weeknd, all ready for 50 Shades of Prey. Like SDJ is ready to start playing with all of them and he's a nice good-looking not-so-stray tomcat.
I am in LOVE with this drama. So much out-of-this-world makjang!!!
And now comes the thriller. I liked how they made the switch - the WToDTM drop-kicked Sister Agnes into another universe, and the both of them stood there frozen as time passed by. I almost thought he was imagining.
But it did work, so Director Yeom gets another bazillion demerits for killing one of his childhood friends, so now he won't EVER get his trillions back, LOL. He just doesn't know it yet. I hope SDJ plays them all like the fools they are.
And I also hope he still ditches EunNam and picks the doctor. I hope the doctor isn't someone who will betray him, too. He needs someone to count on.

Did anyone else have a Spaceballs flashback though when SDJ started telling them the code? "1... 2... 3... 4..." then everybody started laughing (I know it's part of the plot, but they were really into it, LOL. So was I :D) I was almost expecting Director Yeom to say that's his luggage password... and then realise he's surrounded by assholes hahaha~ I was even thinking that huge black helmet would definitely fit LOL.
Okay now we're in for the revenge part. Let it come!!!!
ep 6 slightly confused me. I’ve thought haesong & yujeong are cousins this whole time. is that incorrect?
HaeSong's original name is SiHyun (you hear it in the childhood flashbacks). He's the son of the agent who disappeared 22 years back and was YuJeong's father's best friend. So he - Agent An - took HaeSong in. They're not related in any way, except through adoption (though they're not mentioning anything legal, maybe he became the kid's guardian while the search went on for the missing father.)
I don't know how long it takes in SK to declare someone dead if missing, in my country it's a period of at least 7 years with no contact whatsover (and it has to go to a judge). 22 years is long enough to presume him dead, even if by old age, LOL.
At least now she knows he's older and won't be perving over a 17-year old as she believed he was. There's that…
She's still useless as a FL character, all she does is screech like a teenager and that's about it. I had some hope she'd have more poise, given she's their teacher and involved in solving the bullying cases and whatnot, but I guess the writer just wants her to be the comic relief and love interest and that's her point in the story.
Though it WAS funny he promised to protect her and her reaction was "how can he say that with that face of his" LOL. She's no better than the teens in her class gaggling over his good looks.
And yeah, so the father is very probably alive and behind all shenanigans at the school. He probably found the gold, if there was any, and now he can't come out of hiding because he'd have to justify it.
Q1: how come they're basically rich though? Because that house is expensive, what with the vast basement and the skywatching setup too. (And those came before he presumably found the gold, if he ever did.)
Q2: how come YuJeong is at that school though? Since it's very expensive. And coincidentally her father is the best friend of missing agent who was looking for large amounts of gold at the time of his disappearence, and also coincidentally there was nobody else around to take in SiHyun/HaeSong.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Though I'll be honest... this drama's main point of attraction is still the eyecandy and not much else.
After ep13: DAMMIT, NOOOOOOOO!PS Also, Yue Yang playing a dad is always awesome. I loved him as Daddy Xu in GotD,…
I hope he was rescued anyway, and I hope it wasn't the NanWu tribe that did it. I really want him to have a happy life with ChuChu and becoming a spy won't help that.
That's why everybody's staring LOL, they can't believe he's behaving like he's from Joseon (he's freaking 31, LOL, the writer's playing with the watchers on this one, LOL) :D

That's respecting safety when running a red light :D

Though by now I am all invested into HID's story, too. He might still surprise us all.
