This started months ago, when Zanghai news was leaked and certainly months before Fox Spirit was announced. They were very keen on attacking XZ and explaining how CY was a way better option and one of their favorite angles was to say XZ isn't doing this drama and how about this way better option because XZ sucks anyway, add all the reasons why.

Now that Fox Spirit is announced, it is just the part about XZ not doing it that is left. Same old song and dance for months. It's not just about this drama either. Ever since Da Han Fu leak happened the same started over it.

I don't care whether you just don't know what is happening in China or you are playing dumb, it's not my problem. What is my problem is constant attacks on XZ and various ways of blackening him and undermining him. It's not 2019 any longer and we don't have to just keep quiet about all this. As I already said, CY fans can stay in their lane and there is no problem. You certainly don't see us coming to his dramas and talking smack. You come over here to cause trouble? Expect to be called out.

The production bought the copyright because they wanted the character and this has nothing to do with the characters that you are talking about.

It is going to be an original script. It's a big male lead drama with the second male lead being the villain of the story. The FL has even less of a focus. It's best not to think about this drama in the context of the novels because you are most likely going to be disappointed. Most of the Chinese fans of the novels are ignoring it for this reason.

That whole thing would probably work on me if I hadn't spent the last few months watching Cheng Yi fans do this exact song and dance on a daily basis. Tough luck I guess.

I didn't expect this to spill over from China but now that it has might as well mention it. Zheng Xiaolong is a big name. Ever since it leaked that this was happening, the number of people licking this drama has been huge.

One of the most used angles was to say this wasn't XZ, then to start pushing their favorites and it has been going on for months. You can read this pretty much on a daily basis on Douban and Weibo and it's always the same fan groups. So just let them, I suppose everyone finds their own way of coping with things.

It's a Cheng Yi fan, ignore it. They have been licking this drama and crying about it for months in China, trying to force the narrative that this isn't Xiao Zhan's drama 🤦

He is absolutely doing this drama.

The director and his wife visited him on the set of LOCH and he is the only person Zheng Xiaolong wanted for this project.

Shipping? Xiao Zhan is an actor who has had quite a few dramas by now plus the movie that include romance, so I have no idea what you are even talking about. There is only one thing his fans are consistent on - no real people shipping. He is becoming a very well known name that is recognisable for real in China and he can carry his own dramas as seen with his TV ratings/CVB. He has no need to sell anything by promoting CP of this kind and he does not. This drama will also be a TV drama.

This drama is an original script. They bought the copyright for the character primarily. Actually the novel fandom in China doesn't care much about this drama precisely for that reason. The books author also has nothing to do with it. Second male lead is an older actor and the FL is a much smaller part.

Anyway, yes, this is Xiao Zhan's drama that will start filming somewhere around December, depending on when LOCH wraps up.

Probably after LOCH wraps up, in order not to take away the hype. There was a melon yesterday that actually they ended up extending the stay in Mongolia after all for a few days because they needed some extra scenes to be shot. I think we won't know until probably late November earliest.

This drama picked up two awards at the Beijing TV drama festival - 2023 Beijing Radio Audiovisual High Quality Drama and Development Fund Broadcast Award Project.

It's inevitable, there are lots of group fighting scenes that will take time to film. We can only hope that all will turn out well, it's a really big project. I have faith in Tsui Hark and XZ both!

Latest melons differ on the start of the next one, from mid - December to early January. It's possible they don't have a firm date because this isn't wrapped up yet. Once it is, there should be an official announcement and we shall know.

It's actually irrelevant. All the info we have says they simply bought the copyright to get rights for the character and some inspiration but the script itself is essentially an original script. The author of the original work is also not involved with this drama. We don't know for sure yet who is the screenwriter.

It will, Tsui Hark is a huge name, it will show internationally. His movies always do. I don't know how big the distribution will be in the USA but that depends on many things we can't predict now.

This unfortunately deletes ZLY as an option right away. Bai Lu is traffic, so out and he acted too many times with LQ. If it is not Sun Yi it's possible it's going to be someone completely unexpected, who has good acting skills but may not be that famous.

She is very ok but who knows. There are melons that say it's not her either 😂
