I know it's no consolation but you are one of many who decided to self-exclude from JOL places from this exact reason.

Everything you mentioned and more is a part of this ongoing set of attacks on him ever since JOL started airing. People can play dumb but I was here (and on Weibo) throughout this period and have literally seen it unfold in front of my eyes.

First he was attacked for taking credit for the show's success (even though he never did, as you say), they made damn sure to scream to high heaven he had nothing to do and didn't contribute at all to JOL popularity. He was a terrible YBY and his acting was awful, it's all other people's contribution that JOL was so hot, conveniently ignoring that from the start the crew used him and his popularity to drum up hype. All the data even today actually attributes half of the success just to him, which is of course, exactly the problem. The amount of black hs over this, I have lost count.

Then they started getting upset when it became obvious he wasn't going to return and they started cursing him out for that because it should be a privilege for him to play a minor role in JOL 2 (this was here on MDL too, it's still up in one of the two above threads). I always wanted to ask them why was it so important he returns when they shouted he was an awful actor, who did nothing for JOL? Their faves after all according to them made this show a hit so why was it such a problem XZ wasn't returning? Shouldn't they be happy? Then black hs started over this. Finally this phase ended some months ago and we are still in the XZ (and often LQ too these days) are at fault for no JOL 2.

I am so done with this bs. No more. Enough.

Neither he nor LQ are in this drama. They can find another scapegoat to blame to cover for their faves.

Tencent has been playing the same game since this summer. They have been using TLP as a way to promote their other dramas that don't have nearly as much interest. It is pretty simple. TLP is coming but until it comes, hey investors take a look at our other shows, see, have this first. It's the same with the audience, a bait and switch attempt.

They could play this game for a long time. Current melons mention December or winter holidays, so after New Year but in reality, even the better melon masters don't know. What they do say is that TLP has the license and it's Tencent's call when it will air. This part is the interesting one because earlier when it was revealed that one other show had the licence but was delayed due to a certain privileged person, it caused quite a few waves. If TLP is discovered to have been the same, it really will be a problem for them.

Overall, I hope XZ films more with others because Tencent is a piece of trash and the only thing that will turn them away from being users is a threat by a different platform, like iQiyi, that can definitely offer XZ way better conditions.

I watch many things, Korean, Western, Chinese. It all always boils down to one thing - is the plot good for however many episodes it has and is it rounded off well? If the answer is yes, then I don't care if it has 12 episodes or if it is in its seventh season 🤷

Don't worry about it. ML2 is actually ok and FL doesn't consider it. They stay good friends who have a long history together.
ML and FL get together in 17 and are rock solid, good communication and no break ups.

Don't throw the pot for this at Xiao Zhan or Li Qin. Neither one of them has anything to do with this drama being delayed and you have absolutely nothing to worry about as Xiao Zhan isn't touching this one. He isn't carrying sedan chairs these days.
