Rather than the usual heat trope, having the knot occur as an act of devotion is quite thoughtful. The narrative progression made sense too, for once.

Ive only just watched the trailer on iQIYI 😂 It does seem like it's going to ship in that direction, with alot of egos being the big obstacles, but, at least from the trailer, it seems like it will try to maintain the general light heartedness we seen in ep 1.

A TV or film adaptation is a visual translation of written work, often acting as a standalone piece. It's not a reading assignment.
And even then, knowing a plot point exists in the novel does not prepare you when the visual storytellers handle it in such a shit manner. Novel readers are saying this is not even how it unfolds in the original idea. 🤷♀️
The frustration I feel isn't so much "ahh crap, amnesia trope." It's the impending anxiety of "ahh crap, amnesia trope with a meddling plot ghost, with still an unclear motive, who has been brought back specifically to make us speed run through all the problems we've already seen, and we have 2 episodes left"
It doesn't exactly fill me with much excitement for the finale. All enthusiasm gutted.

Dont Be Too Emotional is a bait and switch tactic, that always feels like a betrayal to me when I see it.
It earned my attention and trust, for 6 weeks. I was fully invested. They laid out the foundation, the nuances of the characters, dangled the pyschology like a carrot and then hit us right in the face with a baseball bat.
According to the above reply, the original source has complicated, human material to work from, and for some reason, they've thrown it all away to meet some bizarre trope quota. Watching a show youve genuinely been excited about lobotomize it's self is sad
