Dream of Splendor, the Immortal Ascension, Love and Destiny, Demon Hunter’s Romance, and the currently airing Mo Li are all some of my favorites in recent years from 2 women directors. Female writers? Liu Fang, Xiao Xiang Dong Er (formerly Zhao Na), and Tong Hua are some that I have enjoyed. Judging dramas/shows are inherently subjective - but your previous comment reeked of misogyny and plain disrespect.

My take just from the drama (never checked out the anime): she has always wanted to work in government. Marrying him was just as a means to an end at the time (she needed money for her school). I think she is fond of ML, but I can’t call it really love at this point. She has other goals she wants to pursue first.

Qi Zheng overheard Lord Jiang (doctor) talking to FY’s uncle. The doctor figured it was all part of the ML’s plan, so he decided to go along with it.

Since The Legend of Rosy Clouds is currently airing, I can't help but observe how much DW has improved over the years in his acting. It makes me really want to see this one soon.

It's the angst song for the drama!

Jokes and silly stuff aside, this is a story about people hiding behind all kinds of masks (Lord Jiang literally has tons of masks lol), hiding who they truly are - what they truly want and who they truly want to be. It's the classic coming of age story - and though I'm far older now and not the target audience for this type of story, it's still an enjoyable show.

Although, I can also see some angst on the way, which if done well I'm all for. I can see Qi Zheng growing up and realizing that loving Fan Yun is supporting her in what she wants to do. Zheng Shi, unfortunately, has all the trappings of a tragedy to come. His grandfather, although meaning well, has caged him to the point that he cannot open up to him. Even Qi Zheng has others around him that support him (even if Fan Yun is gone). ZS's only ray of light is Fan Yun, with whom he can be himself - but unfortunately there will always be Qi Zheng.

Lol the drunk scene. Some way to deal with the problem, boys.
