Sweet romance

This is a sweet high school to university to adult life romance. It is nice to watch and very easy to understand Mandarin with this series. Always feels good to watch a young couple discover who they are through young adulthood. I enjoyed all the characters in this story and their interactions. No drama, no jealousy, no bulling

Part 2 is even better than part 1

As someone who doesn't usually watch fantasy series I did binge watch both part 1 and part 2 of this series and thoroughly enjoyed them. All the cast are well known and exceptional in these roles. The music is memorable and overall this series surpassed my bias regarding fantasy series. If you have the time watch both part 1 and part 2 one after the other.

A Must Watch

I usually do not like fantasy series but this one is the exception. It is part 1 of 2 and both are a must watch series with such a complet cast, I truly enjoyed binge watching both series. If you choose a period drama series with loveable characters this is the one for you. Part 2 was even better than this part 1.

One of the best series

This is a series that I count as one of the best series ever made. The humour, the political intrigue, the cast. It is for sure one of the best entertaining Chinese series. Because of the great content it is always a pleasure to re-watch this series.
It is part 1 of two as of 2026, and soon to be a part 3.
I am awaiting part 3 with enthusiasm. and will probably watch part 2 again just before watching part 3.

Sweet historical series

How sweet how they created this 1970s historical political series. How difficult it would have been to be living in those times in China. A learning experience to watch this series and the creators were able to make this as sweet and realistic as possible with the hardships of those times. Watching the main leads together was a gem.

wonderful series

This series has intrigue, corporate espionage, female strength of character, everything you want to watch in a series. Great actors with perfect roles for them. There are 36 episodes and I always find that after 30 episodes any series could end, this is the same with this series. I like main male lead as he seems to chooses to work in series with dept of character.

Airforce story

If you like history and military series, this one is for you. I truly enjoyed the actors, some much older with great acting skills that made the story even more interesting. Lots of airplanes flying, and the main leads are great to watch. Some comedy, as expected from Zhu Ya Wen. He is always fun to watch. I didn't yet finish the series as I am taking a break from all the flying scenes.

Individual litigation stories

This series is a compilation of different litigation stories. Interesting that in a few episode we can see the development of each litigation case. The actors are well knows and wonderful to watch. I decided to take a break after episode 12 and to continue with another case series at a later date. If you enjoy lawyers stories this is very well done.

Drama with a sensitive topic

This is a dramatic story with sensitive topics like the feeling of abandonment for a girl that can make a girl search for love in the wrong places. The consequences and family turmoil in this 2007 Chinese society. I usually like comedies or some drama with a little comedy. This is a very good series if you can handle the drama as an audience. I left as I find the topic difficult to watch for my own entertainment. Everyone's tastes are different and this can be a good series for others.

Great political intrigue

My goal to watch C-dramas is for entertainment, learning Mandarin and to laugh. This is a great political drama, not so much any comedy mixed into it. I miss that. I found it interesting but at the same time after 16 episodes I just found I needed a change to another show, I pick it up at a later date.

Simply genius.

One of the best period series. Every episode is a gem. Genius comedy all around. It only takes a smile, or a facial expression to make us laugh out loud. Just simply extraordinary writing. Every episode is a must watch. Every character is special, and even all the male leads have their own strength and failures.

Amazing suspense

This is such an intriguing and suspensful series. The music makes it so intense. I had to take some breaks and also because of the intense fast pace stressful episodes, I sometimes put the mute on. It is a great series if you want fast pace, spy series.
Well worth watching. No romance, no humour, just great acting with these characters.

Suspense to it's maximum

This is a great series. There is lots of violence for vengeance so expect it. It's a good story and the music makes it so much more stressful to watch. I do find there is a lot of violence and the theme is vengeance. I enjoyed seeing new actors for me in this series. The suspense and political intrigue with twists and turns makes it a bing watching series.

So well done, crime story

This is a very well done criminal story. Somewhat too scary and gory for me, I kept muting the sound as the music is so well done to stress the audience. I am not one for stressful series but all the actors are super. It is certainly worth watching if you like crime series. This is only my choice as I prefer light series with not much stress.

Great Period Drama

This series has romance, political intrigue, sweet humour, and great acting from the cast. I usually like a series that can keep me watching for the next episode. This is one of these. I have my favorites, Love Like the Galaxy, Joy of Life 1 & 2, Lost You Forever, 1 & 2, Sword Snow Stride, Secret of Three Kindoms, Nirvana in Fire, and this is another one.
I do have to mention that after many episodes this series becomes a drama with inside women jealousy and outside male jealousy that rather dampens the fun of it.
